Vibration Analysis of Steel Strip in Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanizing Process  [PDF]

In hot-dip galvanizing lines, undesirable vibration of the moving steel strip occurs due to the impingement of the high-speed turbulence jet, which leads to non-uniformity of zinc thickness, as well as splash of the liquid zinc. In this paper, the turbulent jet flow field is firstly numerically obtained using the CFD method. Then, the influence of the turbulent jet flow on the steel strip is simplified as a harmonic force at the impingement line, and the response of the steel strip is obtained by means of finite element analysis for different strip lengths, thickness and pretension forces. Influences of impingement distance, air knife slot gap and jet pressure, on vibration of the steel strip are also analyzed. The results will provide theoretical basis for the reduction of steel strip vibration in continuous hot-dip galvanizing process.

Numerical Investigation of Traveling Wave Electroosmotic Flows in A Microchannel  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, a coordinate transformation method (CTM) is employed to numerically solve the Poisson–Nernst–Planck (PNP) equation and Navier–Stokes (NS) equations for studying the traveling-wave electroosmotic flow (TWEF) in a two-dimensional microchannel. Numerical solutions indicate that the numerical solutions of TWEF with and without the coordinate transformation are in good agreement, while CTM effectively improves stability and convergence rate of the numerical solution, and saves computational cost. It is found that the averaged flow velocity of TWEF in a micro-channel strongly depends on frequency of the electric field. Flow rate achieves a maximum around the charge frequency of the electric double layer. The approximate solutions of TWEF with slip boundary conditions are also presented for comparison. It is shown that the NS solution with slip boundary conditions agree well with those of complete PNP-NS equations in the cases of small ratios of Electric double layer(EDL) thickness to channel depth(λD/H). The NS solution with slip boundary conditions over-estimates the electroosmotic flow velocity as this ratio(λD/H) is large.

Through the analysis of the company’s human resource management system, the study has found that Cisco has chosen soft HR model, built seven-step recruitment process, raised 11 performance factors and formed special employment philosophy. Based on the findings, the study has summarized some suggestions of human resource management for Internet companies.

Objective: The authors report a rare case of uterine adenocarcinoma metastasis to both the skull base and cervical spine presenting with pathological fracture and myelopathy. Methods: We report the case of a 43-year-old Asian female with widely metastatic uterine adenocarcinoma who over the course of 3 years was diagnosed with a large clival mass and more recently a cervical spine pathological fracture presenting with myelopathy. Results: This patient underwent multiple procedures over a three-year period, including total hysterectomy with tumor debulking, endonasal biopsy of clival mass and most recently cervical corpectomy and fusion. She has received chemotherapy and radiation therapy for treatment of the unresectable clival mass and has done quite well despite having this pathology. Conclusion: This is the first documented case of clival involvement of endometrial adenocarcinoma. Additionally, this is a unique case of spinal metastatic endometrial adenocarcinoma presenting with pathological fracture and myelopathy.

Giant Serpentine Aneurysm Treated with Double EC-IC Bypass with Thrombectomy and Excision of Aneurysm: A Case Review and Technical Note  [PDF]

Objective and Importance: The authors report a case of a symptomatic giant serpentine MCA aneurysm treated with double STA-MCA bypass with thrombectomy and excision of aneurysm. This is the first reported case of a double bypass with concomitant thrombectomy and excision of aneurysmal segment. Clinical Presentation/Methods: We report the case of a 27-year-old Hispanic male with severe acute decline in mental status with a giant serpentine MCA aneurysm with significant mass effect and midline shift trapping the lateral ventricular system. Intervention/Results: Patient presented initially to an outside hospital for altered mental status and confusion. Patient was diagnosed with a giant serpiginous aneurysm and hydrocephalus. A left ventriculoperitoneal shunt was placed at the outside hospital and patient was transferred to University of New Mexico. At this time, his mental status declined rather abruptly. He was treated with a double STA-MCA bypass procedure with aneurysm resection.

The Effects of He-Ne Laser and Enhanced Ultraviolet-B Radiation on Proliferating-Cell Nuclear Antigen in Wheat Seedlings  [PDF]

Abstract: The level of ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation on the Earth’s surface has increased due to depletion of the ozone layer. Here, we explored the effects of continuous wave He-Ne laser irradiation (632 nm, 5 mW·mm-2, 2 min·d-1) on proliferating-cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) damage repair function of wheat seedlings exposed to enhanced UV-B radiation (10.08 kJ·m-2·d-1) at the early growth stages. Wheat seedlings were irradiated with enhanced UV-B, He-Ne laser treatment or a combination of the two. We explored the transcripts of PCNA in each treatment group using RT-PCR. In addition, total proteins were extracted from the 7-day-old wheat leaves, analyzed by SDS-PAGE and identified by western blot. The results showed that the transcription of PCNA was weakened following UV-B radiation compared to the control. However, when seedlings were subjected to elevated UV-B-damaging radiation followed by He-Ne laser irradiation, the expression of PCNA was signifi-cantly higher than UV-B radiation alone. These results suggest that He-Ne laser has an active role in repairing the UV-B damaging effects. In order to further investigate the function of PCNA, dynamic arrangements of PCNA in wheat root-tip cells were observed with confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). The PCNA was marked fluorescent dimming and strength weakened in en-hanced UV-B radiation (UV-B) compared with the control group (CK) during processing. It shows that PCNA may be involved in the separation of chromosomes.
Different Doses of the Enhanced UV-B Radiation Effects on Wheat Somatic Cell Division  [PDF]

Abstract: Being sessile, plants are continuously exposed to DNA-damaging agents presenting in the environment such as ultraviolet (UV). Sunlight acts as an energy source for photosynthetic plants; hence, avoidance of UV radiations (namely, UV-A, 315 - 400 nm; UV-B, 280 - 315 nm; and UV-C, <280 nm) is unpreventable. DNA in particular strongly absorbs UV-B; therefore, it is the most important target for UV-B induced damages. This paper mainly used different doses of the enhanced UV-B radiation (B1 group: 4.05 kJ•m-2•d-1, B2 group: 10.08 kJ•m-2•d-1, B3 group: 7.05 kJ•m-2•d-1, B4 group: 23.02 kJ•m-2•d-1) treatment wheat, then, explored on the growth of wheat root and wheat root tip cell of chromosome aberration effect. In wheat, root-tip cells were observed with confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), the results showed that low doses of B1 group (4.05 kJ•m-2•d-1) promoted the growth of wheat root and cell mitosis frequency. But high dose of B2 group (10.08 kJ•m-2•d-1), B3 group (17.05 kJ•m-2•d-1), B4 group (23.02 kJ•m-2•d-1) inhibited the growth of wheat root tip, and made crooked growth of wheat root, and inhibited the wheat root tip cell mitotic frequency and processed that induce root tip cells of wheat produce all kinds of aberration of chromosome in the interphase containing “multiple nucleoli nuclei”, “incomplete nuclei”, “long round nuclei”, “bean sprouts nucleus”. In mitosis M period contains “dissociative chromosome”, “chromosome bridge”, “adhesion chromosome”, “multi-bundle divide”, “nuclear anomalies”. After, high doses of enhanced UV-B radiation treatment, most of the cell cycle anomaly concentrated in mitosis interphase. In mitosis M period, with UV-B radiation dose enhanced chromosome aberration rate was on the rise and the aberration types also increasing.

Objective: To explore the selection of the best incision for operative treatment of benign breast tumor. Methods: The clinical data of 1000 cases of benign breast tumor operated by cosmetology incision were retrospectively analyzed. Results: All patients underwent tumor resection and were satisfied with the incision. Conclusions: Benign breast tumor can be excised through cosmetology incision, and no obvious scar leaves behind, so it can satisfy the cosmetic requirement of many patients.

Abstract: the output behavior of a nonlinear control system depends not only on its input but also on its initial conditions. these two factors have to be considered simultaneously in nonlinear systems design. this paper presents a new definition, called dynamic right factorization, for nonlinear dynamic control systems. this factorization takes the initial conditions as well as the system input into account. coprimeness and fundamental properties of dynamic right coprime factorization are investigated. its relations to the system observability and the observer design problem are discussed. an example is given to illustrate the procedure of obtaining the dynamic right factorization and designing an observer for a given nonlinear dynamic system.

The critical role of vascular endothelial growth factor in the pathogenesis of CNV is well understood. Ranibizumab plays an inhibitory role with CNV and reduces vascular permeability by binding to vascular endothelial growth factor. Intravitreal ranibizumab reduces the risk of visual acuity (VA) loss and increases the chance of VA gain compared with no treatment or photodynamic therapy for CNV in AMD. Some high-quality research has shown that the optimal timing for ranibizumab treating wet AMD is the first 3 months. It is recommended that ranibizumab is intravitreally injected monthly in the initiation for at least 3 months. Subsequent managing of regimens should be made dependent on the VA change, fundus examination, and image of optical coherence topography. An individualized strategy or combined method with photodynamic therapy is beneficial to the active lesion in the consecutive treatment of ranibizumab for CNV, and may be a good choice in order to decrease injection times. Regarding the safety profile, ranibizumab has been well tolerated in clinical trials. The principal ocular adverse event detected in clinical trials is a low frequency of ocular inflammation. Key serious ocular adverse events occurred in <5% of ranibizumab-treated patients in large-scale clinical trials. It appears unlikely that treatment with ranibizumab increases the risk of vascular events significantly. Less frequent injections on an as-needed schedule, based on monthly monitoring may have the most optimal risk:benefit ratio.
