Chaves,Mariana;
Ultima década , 2005, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22362005000200002
Abstract: this article delivers an analysis and description of the current representations and speeches regarding the contemporary young people of argentina. this representation was built based on the field job carried out with several actors (young people, old people, communications media) during years 1998 and 2004 in the city of la plata (province of buenos aires) as a part of the doctoral investigation of the authoress (chaves, 2005). the analysis of the speeches allowed the identification of several representations over the young as well as the acknowledgement of discursive formations in which such representations were included. the note includes as well a systematization of characterizations for the young people of argentina and/or latin america, carried out by other authors. as well, equivalencies are established with the offered proposal. finally, it is interpreted that the hegemonic visions towards the young people of latin america are due to the legislature juridic and restrictive model. it is said that the young people is known by the ?great no?, it is unfit (according to the juridic model) or negative (according to the restrictive model); the young are not allowed to exist as a total entity (in transition, uncomplete, nor infant nor grown up) or their practices are condemned (they are problematic youths, uncommitted, rebels or delinquents and offenders).
O trágico, o c?mico e a "distancia artística": arte e conhecimento n'A Gaia Ciência, de Nietzsche
Chaves, Ernani;
Kriterion: Revista de Filosofia , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-512X2005000200011
Abstract: this reading of the gay science intends to show some important elements which, in this book, gravitate around the theme of "distance". analysing particularly three aphorisms of the book, our goal is to clarify the movement, in the text and in nietzsche's thought as well, from distance as ferne, with its romantic source, to distance as distanz. however, in the end, we intend to show that nietzsche dislocates the romantic theme of the ferne, taking it as an "artistic distance", which becomes the distinctive trace between the perspectives of art and knowledge.
Dissec??o da artéria carótida
Chaves, Claudia;
Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S2179-83972008000300018
Abstract: carotid artery dissections usually have a good prognosis and should be thought as a potential etiology of stroke and transient ischemic attacks (tias) in young patients. noninvasive imaging techniques, in particular magnetic resonance imaging (mri) (t1- and t2-weighted, fat-suppressed t1) and magnetic resonance angiography (mra) of head and neck with and/or without gadolinium, should be used routinely for screening of patients with internal carotid artery (ica) dissection. computed tomographic angiography (cta) can be an alternative or adjunctive diagnostic technique used for evaluation of dissection. conventional angiography should be reserved for selected cases where the diagnosis remains indeterminate after initial studies have been performed. further studies are necessary to evaluate the best therapeutic options for patients with arterial dissection.
Chaves, Ernani;
Trans/Form/A??o , 1994, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31731994000100002
Abstract: the concept of myth is one of the keys to understand the thought of walter benjamin. the aim of this paper is to follow its genesis from the first formulations of the concept of "destiny", as presented in destiny and character, written in 1919. the present paper is divided in two parts. the first reconstructs benjamin's arguments, showing them tobe within the domain of the theory of rights and their necessary insertion in a "temporality" mode, defined by "repetition"; the second part attempts to demonstrate that benjamin's positions were closely linked to a political stand: their aim was, in name of an avowed anarchism, to fight against all nationalist "myths" (that brought germany to war) and the need of "leaders" (führer) for the people. examples of this political bias, based on benjamin's confrontation with zionism, are presented.
Chaves, Ernani;
Trans/Form/A??o , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31732007000100005
Abstract: together with the project of revaluation of all values, the schema of a "physiology of art" gains a central role in nietzsche's last writings. that's a perspective that supposes a defeat both of the "artist's metaphysics" of the initial period and of the critique of romanticism that characterizes a second moment. taking as a starting point the discussion about the pertinence of utilization of the term physiology in nietzsche's work, this article intends to present, in general terms, the reaching of this project to the discussion of the relations between art and truth, art and illusion. in conclusion, the intention here is to show the importance of this idea of a physiology of art taking as a reference the figure of the actor.
STOCHASTIC MODELLING OF MONTHLY SUN BRIGHT IN COFFEE GROWING AREAS STOCHASTIC MODELLING OF MONTHLY SUN BRIGHT IN COFFEE GROWING AREAS
Chaves Bernardo
Revista Colombiana de Estadística , 2002,
Abstract: Autorregressive integrated moving average models ARIMA, were adjusted to series of monthly sun bright for 32 meteorological stations of The National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia. The structure of the adjusted models was ARIMA(0; 1; 1) * (0; 1; 1)12 this is a moving average with a seasonality component each 12 month, the estimated parameters were sufficient to describe the behavior of the series, they were statistically different from zero and non correlated. The estimated forecasts were found very approximated to observed values, they are actualized monthly, this characteristic allow to readjust the model when the pattern series change and to plan activities related with absorption of solar energy. The greatest forecast error was 23% and it is considered acceptable.
Reconciliation or Bust?
Elisabeth Chaves
Journal of Critical Globalisation Studies (JCGS) , 2012,
Abstract: Mainstream economics posits the economy as a disembedded sphere generally governed by its own rules and principles. In reality, the economy is comprised of social relations, and conflicting interests configure those relationships. As a result, our political economy is the outcome of that conflict, a reconciliation between democracy and capitalism, variously termed democratic capitalism, embedded liberalism, or the welfare state...
