Journal of theoretical and applied electronic commerce research , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-18762010000100003
Abstract: increased attention to the economic impact of information and communication technologies (ict) underscores the impact of ict on the social side of the ?digital divide.? ict and individual and organizational changes are often closely related. this paper examines the main characteristics of the relationship between ict and human resources in spanish firms, in the context of a developed country with an incidence-rate of ict slightly below the average of its area. the data on 1,269 spanish manufacturing firms has been taken from the survey of business strategies (sbs) of the fundación empresa pública (spanish foundation) of spain. our results suggest that ict are related to higher levels of qualification, higher levels of r&d workers, and higher levels of training per worker. moreover, firms that invest in ict offer higher levels of average wages. these results confirm the relationship between technological innovation, and organizational and human changes. managers and public administrators should take into account such mutual interrelations in order to optimize their decisions concerning investment in human and technological resources.

Los resultados evidencian las diferencias en la determinación de la satisfacción laboral de ambos grupos y permite establecer recomendaciones para favorecer mayores niveles de satisfacción de sus integrantes./Nowadays there is an increasing interest in the area of the firm’s management for the development of the social corporate responsibility (SCR) and the need to develop a suitable management of the human resources.
/Recent studies suggest that information and communication technologies (ICT) and the electronic commerce can offer wide opportunities to organizations, such as facilitating the expansion of the range of products, the improvement of the service to the client, the best response to the demand, the improvement of the relations with suppliers and clients, etc. Firms of the social economy or the third sector are not exempt from these technologies. However, papers in the field of organizations of the social economy are scanty. The main aim of this article is to analyse the state of the art for the Spanish case, presenting information about the own characteristics of the firms of social economy, related to their efficiency and their use of these technologies. Results offer information about the aspects to be taken into account so that the companies of the social economy also take advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies. The main conclusions of the article turn out to be useful both for the managers of these organizations and for the people in charge of public policies related to the promotion of the social economy.

Gargallo-Castel,Ana; Esteban-Salvador,Luisa; Pérez-Sanz,Javier;
Journal of technology management & innovation , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-27242010000300009
Abstract: the main objective of this paper is to analyse the impact of gender in adopting and using new information and communication technologies (icts) in spain. it is widely accepted that men tend to be the first to use new technologies and to gain significant benefits from doing so, both at home and work. however, further research on gender and new technologies, such as icts, is still needed in order to better understand differences between men and women. on the one hand we show that percentage of icts users is higher among men. on the other hand, our results confirm that women also present lower frequency of icts use. we examine how the differences in adoption and use of icts are moderated by cultural and socioeconomic aspects. differences appear mainly in the lower levels of education and in the rural area. therefore, it highlights the necessity of taking into account those aspects to remove the gender digital divide totally. we also underline the importance of changes in gender roles and the increase of the participation of women in the spanish labour force.

The Turkish Online Journal of Distance Education , 2010,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) within tertiary education in a Spanish University. We analyze the results of a new initiative developed by the University of Zaragoza through an innovative project for a virtual campus called ‘Anillo Digital Docente’. Data relating to the degree of WebCT’s use is analyzed, as well as the academic results achieved by the students using it. These results are compared with the results achieved by other students studying in a traditional teaching setting. Several conclusions are drawn from this comparison: firstly, on how effective these technologies are within regulated university education; and secondly, on how beneficial the extension of its application would be to other educational areas.

In the last years, the number of works that analyse the situation of women on boars of directors in the profit and not for profit organizations has increased. Although the literature is scary and more extended out of Spain the number of studies in our country is increasing. According to Mateos, Escot and Gimeno (2006) in the called democratic participation companies the direct implication of women in management is bigger than in others organizations. However, some studies show an unequal participation of women in the management of these entities (Berenguer, Cerver, de la Torre y Torcal, 2004). A bigger number of women on boards of cooperatives can help to improve the employ conditions and to get an economic, social and cultural balance in this type of organizations (Fregidou-Malama, 2004). In this paper we analyze the presence of women on the boards of these entities and we compare with the types of cooperatives managed by women with the aim of check if there are associations among them. At the same time, we connect the time of starting the cooperative with the female participation to seek the evo
Gargallo,Francesca;
Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer , 2009,
Abstract: feminism and intermarriage are instruments of liberation from a dominant culture, as they are elements of disclosure to oppression. in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were leading and caciques women who wrote their wills or left a testimony of the teachings for women of their old nations without making any claim to its own condition. only when emancipatory feminism of anarchists, liberals and socialists of the late nineteenth century was reborn, women in latin america became aware of their history of discrimination and that this condition could not be ignored if they wanted to deal with a women?s liberation. however, it was just in the 1970s and 1980s when latin american feminists propelled his release from the roles assigned by the ?patriarchal culture?, this being a conflict that has since driven the homogenization of feminism in the institutions and thereby ratification of the imposition of a hegemonic female americanness.
Feminismo Latinoamericano
Gargallo,Francesca;
Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer , 2007,
Abstract: women recognise themselves through their history, but the hardest obstacle for building such history of latin america is to ignore the death of ninety per cent or aboriginal populations at the outset of the westernization of their history. latin american feminist theory doesn't start out from indian's knowledge, and only a few half-breed women are recognized along this history, rather perceiving themselves as westerns than indians, white and no coloured people, generically oppressed rather than a member pertaining to a culture of resistance. the way to decolonization made by the theory ?tself and promoted by autonomous feminist groups ?s particularly important for latín american feminist thinking because ?t points out to the cross, not only discursivo, about those very varied elements of economy, body, politics, liberation, and difference. thus, the indian-uprooted feminism, the lesbian feminism and feminism of popular struggles is opening up a new voice to the latin american feminism
Gargallo,Francesca;
Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer , 2008,
Abstract: in order to approach the relationship between feminist theory and education, we?ll state a reflection on how the formal education won?t be anymore an instrument used for imposing a repetition, assimilation and naturalisation of sexist patterns, on condition that those subjects receiving them be conceived as no neuter, and without hiding a naturalized prescription of generic roles, but they must be viewed as sexual persons, endowed with rights, interests, individual and collective histories, and own contributions for the whole society.
