Abstract: Lightning is one of the main causes of damage on electric power systems. The modeling in ATPDraw(Electromagnetic transient program) allows to know the effect of different lightning and the transmission lineparameters, on the magnitude of the electric current that penetrates into the structures when it receives adirect stroke on the top of the structure, on the shielding cable or on the phase conductors.

Abstract: During the historical development of electrical engineering, have developed many methods for calculatingthe contact resistance grounding electrodes of different configurations, from approximate methods, semiexact methods up methods which guarantee good levels of exactness. The development achieved by thecomputer has enabled the rescue of relatively old algorithms, such as those based on the theory ofMaxwell’s images, until the development of methods based on the theory of finite elements. In this paperwe describe the features and benefits of a program for the design and analysis of grounding systems forany electrical installation, using the theory of Maxwell’s images.

Physics , 2011, DOI: 10.1088/0264-9381/28/17/175015
Abstract: In this work we study the theory of linearized gravity via the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism. We make a brief review of this theory and its Lagrangian description, as well as a review of the Hamilton-Jacobi approach for singular systems. Then we apply this formalism to analyze the constraint structure of the linearized gravity in instant and front-form dynamics.

Genome Biology , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/gb-2009-10-1-r11
Abstract: Alternative splicing changes induced by insulin affect more than 150 genes and more than 50 genes are regulated by wingless activation. About 40% of the genes showing changes in alternative splicing also show regulation of mRNA levels, suggesting distinct but also significantly overlapping programs of transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation. Distinct functional sets of genes are regulated by each pathway and, remarkably, a significant overlap is observed between functional categories of genes regulated transcriptionally and at the level of alternative splicing. Functions related to carbohydrate metabolism and cellular signaling are enriched among genes regulated by insulin and wingless, respectively. Computational searches identify pathway-specific sequence motifs enriched near regulated 5' splice sites.Taken together, our data indicate that signaling cascades trigger pathway-specific and biologically coherent regulatory programs of alternative splicing regulation. They also reveal that alternative splicing can provide a novel molecular mechanism for crosstalk between different signaling pathways.Signaling pathways present a major mechanism by which cells communicate during development and as part of the normal physiology of organisms. A relatively small number of signaling pathways have been shown to regulate a large repertoire of developmental and cellular processes ranging from axis formation in the early embryo to complex immune responses. The major signaling pathways have been shown to be remarkably conserved in their components and general biological role from insects and worms to mammals [1-3]. To exert their diverse functions, these pathways are used reiteratively, mainly by regulating different transcriptional programs depending on the cellular context. The mechanisms underlying signal-regulated transcription often involve the modification of signal-transducing molecules and downstream components, ultimately affecting the potency of transcriptio

Se hace una revisión de la técnica quirúrgica utilizada y de la literatura médica pertinente Among the congenital malformations of the craniospinal junction, those produced by anomalies of the odontoid apophysis of the axis, which may cause neurological manifestations as a result of compression of the bulbomedullary junction, are described. A case of anterior bulbomedullary compression provoked by an exhuberant congenital odontoid apophysis that becomes symptomatic because of a trauma is presented in this paper. A review of the surgical technique used as well as of the relevant medical literature is made
Direct olive oil analysis
Valcárcel, M.,Gallego, M.,Cárdenas, S.,Pe?a, F.
Grasas y Aceites , 2002,
Abstract: The practical impact of a direct analysisa is undeniable as it strong contributes to enhance the so-called productive analytical features such as expeditiousness, reduction of costs and minimisation of risks for the analysts and environment. The main objective is to establish a reliable bypass to the conventional preliminary operations of the analytical process. This paper offers a systematic approach in this context and emphasises the great field of action of direct methodologies in the routine analysis of olive oil. Two main types of methodologies are considered. On the one hand, the direct determination of volatile components is systematically considered. On the other hand, simple procedures to automatically implement the preliminary operations of the oil analysis using simple devices in which the sample is directly introduced with/without a simple dilution are present and discussed.

A review of the antimicrobial groups and drugs vhich are more successafully used to treat bacterial infections caused by the most resistant and preoccupying microorganisms was mode. Those that according to the results obtained in the first stages of research are more likely to be introduced in the clinical practice to control and solve bacterial infections of difficul management were added.
