Secure Direct Communication based on Ping-pong Protocol

Abstract: Communication security with quantum key distribution has been one of the important features of quantum information theory. A novel concept of secured direct communication has been the next step forward without the need to establish any shared secret key. The present paper is based on the ping-pong protocol with three particle GHZ state as the initial state where the receiver can simultaneously receive information from two parties. Possible eavesdropping on the travelling particle has been examined.
Grover's algorithm based multi-qubit secret sharing scheme

Abstract: Some of the secret sharing schemes having unique quantum features like parallelism and entanglement are supposed to be relatively secure. Different schemes proposed by various researchers over the years have features which could be specific to the nature and need of a situation. Following Hsu's proposed scheme we propose a secret sharing scheme using Grover's search algorithm for a four qubit system with several marked states. Further, the scheme has been generalised to an n-qubit syatem.
Evolution of Entanglement in Groverian Search Algorithm: n-qudit System

Abstract: Entanglement plays a crucial role in quantum processes particularly those pertaining to quantum information and computation. An analytical expression for an entanglement measure defined in terms of success rate of Grover's search algorithm has been obtained for qutrit systems with real coefficients and the calculated results agree well with the conventional entropy based measure. The entanglement measure is further generalised for qudit (d-level) systems with real coefficients.

Abstract: Quantum entanglement, like othre resources, is now coonsidered to be a resource which can be produced, concentrated if required, transported and consumed. After its inception [1] in 1933, various schemes of quantum state teleportation have been proposed using different types of channels. Not restricting to qubit based systems, qutrit states and channels have also been of considerable interest. In the present paper we investigate the teleportation of an unknown single qutrit state as well as two qutrit state through a three qutrit quantum channel along with the required operations to recover the state. This is further generalized to the case of teleportation of n-qutrit system.
Success Rate and Entanglement Evolution in Search Algorithm

Abstract: Evolution of entanglement with the processing of quantum algorithms affects the outcome of the algorithm. Particularly, the performance of Grover's search algorithm gets worsened if the initial state of the algorithm is an entangled one. Biham et al [14] have shown that the success probability of search algorithm can be seen as an operational measure of entanglement. Following the same line of thought, analytical expressions for entanglement measure for three and five qubit system have been derived, which reveals that entanglement measure based on Grover's search algorithm is valid for any state with real coefficients for even number of qubits.

Abstract: Evolution of entanglement with the proceeding of quantum algorithms affects the outcome of the algorithm. Particularly, the performance of Grover's search algorithm gets worsened if the initial state of the algorithm is an entangled one. The success probability of search can be seen as an operational measure of entanglement. This paper demonstrates an entanglement measure based on the performance of Grover's search algorithm for three and five qubit systems. We also show that although the overall pattern shows growth of entanglement, its rise to a maximum and then consequent decay, the presence of local fluctuation within each iterative step is likely.

Qutrit system are of special interest because the Hilbert space dimensionality (for a given number of qudits-d-dimensional system)is optimal for d=3 and this may be of significance in the enhancement of computing power.
Seed germination and seedling growth of Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Mansf. in relation to certain growth regulators

Abstract: The effect of cycocel, gibberellic acid and kinetin was investigated on the seed germination and seedling growth of C. lanatus. Cycocel favoured germination in total darkness and largely inhibited it in diffuse light. The growth of radicule and hypocotyl was promoted only in total darkness. Gibberellic acid accelerated the pace of germination in total darkness more than diffuse light in the firs 24 hours. The growth of the radicule as well as the hypocotyl was more in diffuse light, whereas only the radicule indicated an enhanced growth in total darkness in low concentration. The known influence of this chemical on the shoot elongation largely remained ineffective. In kinetin cent percent germination was obtained in total darkness which was not so in diffuse light , except for high concentration. It enhanced the pace of germination in total darkness in the first 24 hors. The seedling growth was promoted in diffuse light, while it was inhibited in total darkness. The increase in the size of the cotyledons took place only in diffuse light. It became apparent that kinetin and gibberellic acid could partly substitute the requirements of total darkness for seed germination in this species.
The effect of aqueous extract of Embelia ribes Burm on serum homocysteine, lipids and oxidative enzymes in methionine induced hyperhomocysteinemia

Abstract: Objective: The present study was designed to evaluate the effect of the aqueous extract of Embelia ribes Burm fruits on methionine-induced hyperhomocysteinemia, hyperlipidemia and oxidative stress in albino rats. Materials and Methods: Adult male Wistar albino rats were fed with the aqueous extract of Embelia ribes (100 and 200 mg/kg, p.o.) for 30 days. Hyperhomocysteinemia was induced by methionine treatment (1 g/kg, p.o.) for 30 days and folic acid (100 mg/kg, p.o.) was used as a standard drug. The animals were evaluated for various biochemical parameters in serum and brain homogenates, followed by histopathological studies at the end of the study. Results: Administration of methionine (1 g/kg, p.o.) for 30 days to vehicle control rats produced significant increase (P < 0.01) in homocysteine, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL-C) levels in serum and lipid peroxides (LPO) levels in brain homogenates, with reduction in high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) levels in serum, and glutathione (GSH) content in brain homogenates, as compared to vehicle control rats. Administration of the aqueous extract of Embelia ribes (100 and 200 mg/kg, p.o.) for 30 days, to hyperhomocysteinemic rats, significantly (P < 0.01) decreased the levels of homocysteine, LDH, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C and VLDL-C and increased the HDL-C levels in serum. In addition, a significant (P < 0.01) decrease in LPO levels with increase in GSH content was observed in hyperhomocysteinemic rats treated with the aqueous extract of Embelia ribes. The results were comparable to those obtained with folic acid, a standard antihyperhomocysteinemic drug. Conclusion: The present results provide clear evidence that the aqueous extract of Embelia ribes treatment enhances the antioxidant defense against methionine-induced hyperhomocysteinemia, hyperlipidemia and oxidative stress in brain.
A probabilistic interpretation of the Volkenborn integral

Abstract: In this paper, we provide a probabilistic interpretation of the Volkenborn integral; this allows us to extend results by T. Kim et al about sums of Euler numbers to sums of Bernoulli numbers. We also obtain a probabilistic representation of the multidimensional Volkenborn integral which allows us to derive a multivariate version of Raabe's multiplication theorem for the higher-order Bernoulli and Euler polynomials.
