Abstract: in this paper, the results of the students’ workshop “santiago de cuba: a safe city” (sc+sc) are presented at the vii international meeting city image and memory held on may 2011. it aimed at searching for alternatives to increase the security of human settlement, applying the alternatives to two vulnerable sectors of the city of santiago de cuba. the workshop was coordinated by arch. julio cesar pérez velázquez with the collaboration of the professors: zoila ba?os, grisel cabezas, luís enrique bello, julio cesar pérez, and also the special participation of arch. josé antonio choy. this paper shows the motivations and details of the workshop and the students′ proposals, emphasizing the need to go over these topics for the new generation of architects.

Abstract: the central objective of this research emphasizes the historical-cultural comprehension of diversity and difference as producers of scenarios in which tolerance must redeem exclusion and promote equity. furthermore it must seek to explain, critically and with reflect some ideas that underline the urgent need to restate the challenges which present themselves to the social actors by issuing precision to their intentions to construct an ethical education for the social living. exposed and which should reveal the reconfiguration of the social imaginaries regarding the collective bodies, the amplification of potential change zones between the scientific and the everydayness and the radical adoption of alternative pedagogies.

Abstract: education has assumed the incorporation of information and communication technologies (ict), pre-supposing a substantial transformation of the curriculum, the permanent formation of teachers and an adequate social structuring of the school as a pedagogical stage. this research attempts an analysis of the possibilities of socio- cultural development of education from the perspective of local opportunities of access and the use telematic resources emphasizing the construction of individual and collective identities based upon representations of techno-scientific aspects which allow the integration of disciplinary knowledge and social knowledge within pedagogical actions. this structure legitimizes the organization of a series of presupposed emancipator discourse conductors that seek affirmation within the framework of educational rationalities in the light of current techno-scientific developments. the link between science, technology and society (sts), the bonding between education and the ict, as well as the goals established as a result of this dialectic, and the value of the cts are focused on as key to reformulating democratic education in order to legitimize social citizenships. finally the need for a political-educational project supported by a social-ethical sense for the democratization of the ict is underlined.

Abstract: the study of identities has been consolidated around a core issue for the democratic construction of a nation: to be a citizen with rights and duties from the perspective logics of identity embodied in social practices and imaginaries. all this implies analyzing the way identities and citizenships have been constructed, emphasizing regulatory products emanating from hegemonic discourses that belong to disciplinary codes and normalize social life, among which language and words count as mediators for such processes. they intend to homogenize cultural patterns that define the collective, hiding those weird identities that are usually set apart from a good citizen?s imaginary, inspired by the napoleonic heritage. the purpose of this study is to analyze, based on a trialogue, how different identities are interwoven and overlapped in a regulated world supported by a controlling discourse on good manners, translated into the construction of an imaginary about normal, universal and unified citizenship that reveals how the control society operates its own mechanisms of vigilance and punishment. finally, a space is generated for the emancipating reflection of those who, being different, aspire to have a space in what is supposed to be normality; emphasizing reconciled identities as a basis for constructing inclusive citizen logics, because we suppose that these harbor the sense of tolerance that complements diversity and difference in the human condition.

Abstract: El propósito central enfatiza la comprensión histórico-cultural de la diversidad y la diferencia como productoras de escenarios donde la tolerancia debe redimir la exclusión y fomentar la equidad; explica, reflexiva y críticamente, algunas ideas que subrayan la urgen te necesidad de replantear los desafíos que se le presentan a los actores sociales, al precisar sus intenciones de construir una educación ética para la convivencia social. Se exponen ideas sobre la reconfiguración de los imaginarios sociales acerca de los cuerpos colectivos, la amplificación de zonas de cambio potencial entre lo científico y lo cotidiano, y la adopción radical de pedagogías alternativas.

Abstract: the person creates dynamisms, uncertainty and chance, outlining a model of comprehension assumed by researchers who are engaged in studying them from their reality and towards their reality. from an analyst perspective based on reflexivity -critical comprehension of the relationships between the individual and society and subject-object, fundamental epistemological, ontological and gnoseological postures are explained to approach a methodological construction of qualitative research in social and human sciences. this article proposes a qualitative research design as an alternative to designs based upon the classical scientific method, not always applicable to social sciences. this idea assumes the researcher from a critical and emancipating posture. the methodological structure is drafted in three chapters-moments: the first one related to the epistemological and methodological values that make the researched topic precise, as well as their structure and directionality within the research. the second is based on theoretical models that embody the social-scientific research fundamentation; and the third refers to the empirical-theoretical integration derived from the preparation experience and the subjacent field to the organization of the research. finally, possibilities are opened to make of the qualitative research a focus with growing intentions of the emancipation of popular knowledge built within the frame of everyday interactions.
