Abstract: this article analyses the dilemma between the positions that has defended the universalism and those that has defended the differences, having as presupposition that both can result in the strong ness of exclude essentialism in scenario of social inequalities. the hypothesis that has pursued is as the follow: taking as presupposition the necessity of the construction of a "minimal essential equality" this only can take places taken into consideration the principle and the struggles that organize themselves around the right to the difference. this paper will discuss mainly the brazilian question. the discussion that will be done in this paper has as bases two fundamentals texts: the report of the high commission that has recommended to the french government the prohibition of the use of the scarf by the young muslim women in the french public school and the last book that was written by seyla benhabib - the claim of culture.

Abstract: this article's main objective is to analyze the spaces occupied by nongovernmental organizations (ngos) in brazilian politics. the first section seeks a clear definition of the main characteristics of these organizations, especially concerning their relations to social movements. the second part analyzes a set of actions by brazilian ngos, most of which originating from the women's movement, in order to exemplify their range of action in relation to the state and civil society as a whole, particularly as regards issues of citizens' rights.

Abstract: the article presupposes that the difficulty of dealing with the relationship between deliberation and representation problems represents a serious drawback in both the theoretical and concrete experiences ambits. firstly it analyses a research coordinated by boaventura de souza santos about participative experiences in several regions. it then discusses those experiences in light of the propositions of irys young in her last book, inclusion and democracy, in which participation and representation are analyzed.

Abstract: this article is divided into two parts, each of which has its distinct and specific objectives. in the first part, i will perform a general reconstruction of the history of feminism, situating the movement within the larger process of modernity: my goal, in doing so, is precisely to put together a scenario which enables us to understand the movement as a force field shaping the latter decades of the 20th century and the first few years of the 21st century. in the second part, i look at a theoretical issue dealing with the relationship between women and power, in order to discuss the problem in both its specificities and the way in which it interacts with the complexity of struggles for power, particularly those pertaining to the realm of the political. i conclude by asserting the need to build a program for women's inclusion in political life which cannot be understood as the mere elaboration of material for political education or publicity campaigns, but rather, as a program to encourage women to make their voices heard, building spaces where they can speak up and out

Abstract: this article has as main goal to examine a set of actions of civil society organizations in brazil, in order to deal with the question of hunger in the country. the article is divided in two parts; the first one will discuss the social question in brazil taking into consideration two assertives: brazil is an "economicist" country and it guarantees, constitutionally, social rights without, nevertheless, guaranteeing social policies. in the second part of the article, a set of ngos, which have developed projects to fight hunger during the last decade of the twentieth century, will be examined.

Abstract The present article was elaborated from a set of six lessons on speech analysis. It aims to approach the question of the analysis in a wide way, showing the main concepts and knowledge that this field of work estimates. The intention is to offer a device, an introductory, so that students and professionals interested in the subject can read the politician speech analytical who presents in the discussions of day-by-day, in the traditional field of politics and in the media.

Abstract: this article aims to contribute to a better understanding of women's weak performance in legislative elections in brazil by studying their electoral performances to the national congress and legislative assembly (parliament) in the state of rio grande do sul/2010. the article is divided in two parts. the first part presents an overview of female candidates in brazil. the second one analyses in detail the electoral performance of female candidates in the state to the national congress and legislative assembly. in conclusion, it finds an increase in the number of female candidates. however, this increased number of female candidacies does not convert into more women being elected. the women elected have a fairly traditional political path, in the same way of well-established democracies.

Abstract: this article examines the fraser-honnenth controversy (2003) in relation to the distribution-recognitions binominal and the theoretic status of the concept of recognition, with the aim to discuss the applicability of their proposals to cases as the brazilian one. do those theories have normative value to the country? the article has two parts: the first one analyzes the controversy in itself; the second part discusses the theses as far as the contemporary brazilian scenario is concerned.
