Socialization Helps the Treatment of Depression in Modern Life  [PDF]
Sefa Bulut
Open Journal of Depression (OJD) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ojd.2019.82005
Abstract: Today modern people suffer from mental illnesses and depression is one of the most commonly diagnosed disorders among children and adults. The treatment of this disorder is long, expensive and sometimes there are no mental health professionals or medical opportunities to treat it. Therefore, we should understand the etiology of this problem and seek alternative methods for healing. This paper deals with non-traditional approach for the treatment of this mental health problem. Researchers found that one of the fundamental reasons for the depression is isolation, loneliness and lack of social support. If people can get some degree of social and emotional support, they will get through the difficult times easily and smoothly. Thus, we should provide natural settings for ourselves and our children to exercise their social skills and learn how to socialize.

Yunus Altunda?, Sefa Bulut
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2014.510134
Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine the predictive effect of life satisfaction and loneliness level of adolescents with divorced parents on resilience. The study has been carried out on 144 adolescents, 75 of whom are female and 69 are male, and whose parents are officially divorced. The study group consisted of students who are attending different types of high schools in the city of Bolu central districts. Loneliness Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale and Adolescents Resilience Scales were utilized in the data collection process. Pearson Moment Correlation and Multiple Regression analyses were used in data analysis. The results revealed that, while there was a positive relationship between resilience and life satisfaction, a strong negative relationship was found between their resilience and loneliness level of the adolescents whose parents are divorced. Regression analysis revealed that, while loneliness was a significant predictor on resilience, life satisfaction was not a significant predictor of resilience. The findings of this research were discussed within the scope of the related literature.

Phubbing and What Could Be Its Determinants: A Dugout of Literature  [PDF]

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2019.106053
Abstract: Smartphone technology turned life easy but it also complicated many things in human lives. One of the biggest issues nowadays, which rose by smartphones, is its overuse and it had been studied under the banner of addiction. A different kind of issue arose similar to smartphone addiction when people overuse their smartphones in social settings. This phenomenon has been termed as “Phubbing” when a person uses his smartphone and literally ignores the person beside him. This phenomenon is very new and researchers are trying hard to understand the phenomenon so they can predict the determinants of this phenomenon. The aim of this article is to understand the previous researches, which had been done in the area of smartphone addiction and try to understand the similarities and differences in both the phenomenon. This article tries to dig out the available literature to find out what actually Phubbing is and what can be its true determinants. In addition, it tried to understand various types of addictions, which can elevate the Phubbing behavior in different settings. In the light of definition and current understanding of Phubbing, it will try to understand how various types of addictions will help us to understand it in depth. This study analyzes previous researches done on addiction and researches related to Phubbing, and tries to understand the correlation of various addictive behaviors with Phubbing phenomenon.
Estimating the Recurrence Periods of Earthquake Data in Turkey  [PDF]
Hande Kon?uk, Serpil Akta?
Open Journal of Earthquake Research (OJER) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojer.2013.21002
Abstract: In this paper, the 231 earthquake data of magnitude 5 and higher, between north (39.00o-42.00o) and east (26.00o-45.00o) coordinates in Turkey from July 12, 1900 to October 23, 2011 are statistically analyzed. The probability density function and cumulative function of the magnitude are derived. It is shown that magnitude random variable is distrib-uted as the exponential distribution. The recurrence periods is also calculated. Recurrence period is estimatedapproxi-matelytwo times a year for an earthquake having magnitude 5.2. Using the Gutenberg-Richter function, the relation between magnitude and frequency is represented.
Differences in Fatty Acid Profiles, ADEK Vitamins and Sterols of the Yolk between Native Chickens and Geese

Karaelmas Science and Engineering Journal , 2011, DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.7212%2fzkufbd.v1i1.9
Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the differences in the yolk lipid composition of geese and chickens which are free to select their diets from the environments. The proportion of oleic acid (18:1n-9) and linolenic acid (18:3n-3) was far greater in both of species of yolk lipids. In particular, the proportion of docosahexaenoic acid in the total lipid of the yolk was greater for the chicken compared to the geese. By contrast, the proportion of arachidonic acid in total yolk lipid was approximately two times greater for the goose than the chicken. Thus the chicken was more efficient at incorporating long-chain (C22) fatty acid of the n-3 series into yolk lipid whereas the geese incorporated C20 fatty acid of the n-6 series. The ADEK vitamins of the goose egg in mg/g yolk were very similar to that of the chicken egg. The cholesterol content of the geese egg in mg/g yolk was far greater to that of the chicken egg.

Abstract: ULAKBIM was founded in 1996 as an institute of TUBITAK. ULAKBIM has two departments, being those of "UlakNet" and "Cahit Arf Information Center". The purpose of ULAKBIM is to establish and manage the system, which would connect the universities and research institutions to international information highways, to provide the researchers with required scientific information and documents, to collect the nationwide produced knowledge and information, either through own or collaborative efforts, in order to develop databases for effective retrieval.
Development of music lesson attitude scale

International Journal of Human Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop a scale to measure the attitudes towards music lessons for students of primary schools. Processing steps in the development of a scale have been explained. In the process of developing the scale first of all a literature review was conducted and studied on similar scales. A pool of 35 items was prepared with the help of information from literature and contributions of professionals. The scale was applied to 692 students. Factor analysis has been used to determine the structural validity of the scale. In the factor analysis, the main components analysis with varimax transformation has been used. For the reliability, inner co-efficiency has been employed and regarding this total matter correlations have been calculated Kaiser- Meyer Olkin value has been measured as 0.94 and the inner co-efficiency as 0.90. These results show that the scale worked on is a reliable and valid means to measure the attitudes of the students towards music lessons.

Short-Term Treatment and Sustained Virologic Response in Two Chronic Hepatitis C Cases
Serpil EROL
Trakya Universitesi Tip Fakultesi Dergisi , 2010,
Abstract: The standard treatment for chronic hepatitis C infection is the combination of pegylated interferon-alpha (Peg-IFN-α) and ribavirin for 48 weeks in patients infected with genotype-1. In genotype-2 or -3 infections, treatment by either conventional IFN-α and ribavirin or Peg-IFN-α with or without ribavirin for 24 weeks is recommended. We hereby report two cases of chronic hepatitis C infection whose genotypes are not specified, with sustained virological response despite early discontinuation of antiviral treatment.
