ABSTRACT Regarding the decisions of microeconomic and managerial nature, the increasing acknowledgment of the importance of the transport decisions for the logistics performance is noticed, once the transport decisions assume relevant trade-offs with other logistics functions and processes, such as inventory, warehousing, purchasing as well as directly affects the outcomes of the logistics services and costs. This implies in considering the transport mot as a “derived demand” in the neoclassic tradition, but as explicative variables of the management decisions. Therefore, the present study seeks to evaluate the public-private relationship in the process of decision making in companies, with the objective of analyzing the export process under the perspective of the decisions oriented to the transaction costs management in the company. In short, the research points out that the public-private relationship shows as a result inappropriate environment, tightening the competition on the global scenario. In the case studied the basic parameters around which the attributes are formed, cost and level of service are adversely affected by this relationship. In turn, the institutional environment in Brazil, with regard to port operations, imposes severe tr

Abstract: this article presents the development of a multidisciplinary perspective for the study of the behaviour of companies and other economic institutions in contemporary capitalism. based on an extensive survey of the literature on this topic, it seeks to integrate some of the contributions originating from three theoretical approaches fundamental to the theme of institutionalism - the transactions cost economics, the evolutionary perspective and the strategic interactions approach. together, these perspectives offer significant contributions to a more robust analysis of the importance of companies' relational capacity in the context of new production arrangements, especially in the context of organisational networks.

Abstract: this work analyzed the implementation of the statute of the children and adolescents (eca) and of the national system of socioeducational service (sinase) in two socioeducational centers in minas gerais and how these centers deal with the two simultaneous logics in the policy focused on the adolescents in deprivation of liberty: the coercion and the socialization. the research showed the implementation and the articulation between the two logics vary mainly due to the physical structure, the profile of the adolescents and the visions of the front-line bureaucrats about the norms.

Tri-sector partnerships in social entrepreneurship: discourse and practice of the actors from the circles of action and reflection

Abstract: this article discusses the construction of tri-sector partnerships in three projects conducted in brazil in different fields of intervention of public policy (access to water, basic education and performance of boards of rights of children and adolescents). collaborative articulations involving the players from three sectors (the state, civil society and the market) are practices that are little studied in the brazilian and even in the international context, as tri-sector partnerships are rare, despite the proliferation of lines of discourse in support of alliances between governments and civil society or between companies and ngos in the management of public policy. as a research strategy, this study resorted to cooperative inquiry, a method that involves breaking down the boundaries between the subjects and the objects of the analysis. besides working toward a better understanding of the challenges of building tri-sector partnerships in the brazilian context, the article also tries to show the relevance to public policy studies of investigative methods based on the subjects studied, as a means of developing an understanding of the practices, lines of discourse and dilemmas linked to social action in social programs.

Abstract: background: felypressin has been added to local anesthetic to increase the length of the anesthetic effect and reduce toxicity during dental procedures. however, the effect on blood pressure remains uncertain, and this may be highly relevant in the dental treatment of hypertensive patients. objective: to investigate the effect of felypressin on blood pressure in hypertensive patients with controlled bp. methods: 71 subjects with these characteristics and in need of periodontal treatment were studied. after 10 minutes of rest, local anesthesia (prilocaine) was infiltrated with and without addition of felypressin. then, a deep subgingival scaling was performed. blood pressure was measured by an automated oscillometric device (dixtal dx2010). ten minutes after the administration of the anesthetic, peak anesthetic action was recorded. the state-trait anxiety inventory (stai) was used to assess the patients' trait anxiety. results: systolic blood pressure increased after anesthesia, regardless of association with felypressin, throughout the dental procedure (p<0.05) and this response can be explained, at least in part, by the trait anxiety levels of the subjects. however, a further increase in diastolic blood pressure was observed when prilocaine was associated with felypressin (p<0.05), but this response did not change with trait anxiety levels. conclusion: felypressin increased the diastolic blood pressure of hypertensive patients with controlled blood pressure. patients with high trait anxiety presented increases in systolic blood pressure upon some procedures, suggesting that an increase in blood pressure might also be related to fear or anxiety.

Abstract: this article compiles the main findings of a study that aimed to investigate the nature of the relationships between business process orientation (bpo) constructs, analytical indicators, and competitive performance from a sample of 368 large and midsized brazilian companies that are present in different sectors of industry and services operations within the brazilian economy. by means of a survey, this research involved the use of hypothesis testing and bivariate and multivariate statistical techniques. tests were carried out to measure the internal consistency of the research tool scales as well as to assess the model structure using structural equation modeling. both the scales and the model were validated. the results show the strategic importance of bpo factors and analytical indicators as predictors of competitive performance of companies. through the structural equation model, these predictive factors explained 66.3% of the variation in performance of the companies in the sample, and the direct effects (path coefficients) found among bpo constructs, analytical indicators, and performance were also significant.
