Inova??o, coopera??o e aprendizado no setor de software no Brasil: análise exploratória baseada no conceito de Arranjos Produtivos Locais (APLs)
Britto, Jorge;Stallivieri, Fabio;
Economia e Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-06182010000200005
Abstract: the analysis seeks to explore analytical and methodological issues associated to the study of learning, innovation and competence building in brazilian software industry. contrasting with a strictly sectoral focus, our hypothesis is that the territorial proximity plays an important role to the improvement of learning and to the strengthening of firms' competitiveness and innovativeness. the analysis uses the concept of "local productive systems" in order to capture the importance of local and institutional conditions to the improvement of learning and to the strengthening of innovativeness and competitiveness. the paper is organized as follow. the first section presents some structural characteristics of the software industry, as well as the analytical framework of the analysis. the second section presents some figures about the brazilian software market, its industrial structure and the strategies adopted by software firms. the third section tries to discuss some characteristics of the spatial distribution of software activities in the brazilian economy. the fourth section develops an exploratory analysis about the territorial heterogeneity of the industry. this analysis is articulated to a discussion about learning, innovation and competence building processes in local software productive systems. specifically, the analysis explores the empirical evidences emerging from a survey of four case studies of local productive systems in the industry. these evidences are manipulated through multivariate techniques in order to identify different clusters of firms with similar characteristics of the learning, innovation and competence building processes. finally, the last section presents some conclusive remarks of the analysis.
A família multigeracional e seus personagens
Motta, Alda Britto da;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302010000200008
Abstract: based on the results of four surveys conducted during the past 10 years, in bahia, this paper explores two basic generations of contemporary multigenerational families: the very old, who are increasingly becoming centenarians, and the pivot generation, constituted by their children, who also grow older. besides being caregivers for the former, the latter frequently support their own children and grandchildren. we thus consider the duplicity of the generational roles as gender-oriented and take into account the impact of social changes on the resocialization process of the "young old" who, after new experiences such as leisure groups or return to the labor market, are trying to play new social roles.
Identidade cultural e forma??o individual: a Alemanha do século XIX e a funda??o da pedagogia moderna
Britto, Fabiano de Lemos;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302012000100014
Abstract: the origins of modern pedagogy and its reverberation within the most recent education theories leads us backwards to german model, that articulates itself in two ways: as a set of pragmatic actions, derived from a series of social and cultural conditions, and as conceptual system, as long as it responds to a new conception of human freedom that came up in the beginning of modern thought. this paper intends to evaluate the imbrications between those two dimensions.
Tradu??o e ilus?o
Britto, Paulo Henriques;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142012000300004
Abstract: despite the existence of powerful currents in the field of translation studies that emphasize the autonomy of the translated text vis-à-vis the original, today's literary translators produce versions that are far more faithful to the original than in the past. availing ourselves of friedrich schleiermacher's concepts of foreignization and domesticization in translation, and of ji?í levy's notions of illusionist and anti-illusionist translation, a possible explanation emerges for this mismatch between theory and practice.

Ex aequo , 2011,
Abstract: despite the clear heterogeneity that informs the social and analytical category ?women?, when we speak of women the notion that comes through is always that of young adult women. they are the ones who perform the more dynamic or socially expected roles - be they the usual traditional ones, that figure in the still idealized nuclear family, be they those of the contemporary professionals, in new roles in the labor market and in politics. for them are formulated the most basic social policies: access to educational practices; health care, with campaigns always geared towards women in reproductive age; the newest attention to the issue of violence against women, seen academically as simply a matter of gender. in this paper we argue that old women also exist and express themselves, not as ?social problems? nor as nasty old ladies or sweet grannies, but as much freer, healthier, more sexually alive and creative women than old women in past generations.
Usefulness of PCR-based assays to assess drug efficacy in Chagas disease chemotherapy: value and limitations
Britto, Constan?a Carvalho;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762009000900018
Abstract: one major goal of research on chagas disease is the development of effective chemotherapy to eliminate the infection from individuals who have not yet developed cardiac and/or digestive disease manifestations. cure evaluation is the more complex aspect of its treatment, often leading to diverse and controversial results. the absence of reliable methods or a diagnostic gold standard to assess etiologic treatment efficacy still constitutes a major challenge. in an effort to develop more sensitive tools, polymerase chain reaction (pcr)-based assays were introduced to detect low amounts of trypanosoma cruzi dna in blood samples from chagasic patients, thus improving the diagnosis and follow-up evaluation after chemotherapy. in this article, i review the main problems concerning drug efficacy and criteria used for cure estimation in treated chagasic patients, and the work conducted by different groups on developing pcr methodologies to monitor treatment outcome of congenital infections as well as recent and late chronic t. cruzi infections.
A atualidade do conceito de gera??es na pesquisa sobre o envelhecimento
Motta, Alda Britto da;
Sociedade e Estado , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69922010000200005
Abstract: whereas defining generation has been in the minds of sociologists since the early moments of the discipline, its use has always been theoretically unstable because of its multiple meanings. even when elevated to a higher theoretical level with mannheim, it suffered the initial reluctance of certain academic circles in accepting that author's theoretical contributions. today, generation remains polysemic. and the scarce attention paid to (or perhaps the lack of perception of) generational social positions and to the dynamic of relations between generations is such that it has generated certain analytical shortcomings ? as in the case of violence against the aged here treated in which an analysis from the perspective of solidarity and conflict between generations is crucial.
Nietzsche e a constru??o messianica do wagnerianismo
Britto, Fabiano de Lemos;
Trans/Form/A??o , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31732010000200007
Abstract: the history of the ambiguous relationship between nietzsche and wagner reveals all dimensions of this fragile tension when considered accordingly to the elements from which both considered the problem of culture and its renewal as political and theoretic mission. this paper intends, by reading some testimonial documents, to stress the ideological distance that both the philologist and the composer, strategically, had to ignore. the differences between their culture reform projects can, through this analysis, be demonstrated - with regards to political acting as well as to a worldview.
Integral Coefficients for One-Loop Amplitudes
Britto, Ruth;Feng, Bo
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007, DOI: 10.1088/1126-6708/2008/02/095
Abstract: We present a set of algebraic functions for evaluating the coefficients of the scalar integral basis of a general one-loop amplitude. The functions are derived from unitarity cuts, but the complete cut-integral procedure has been carried out in generality so that it never needs to be repeated. Where the master integrals are known explicitly, the results here can be used as a black box with tree-level amplitudes as input and one-loop amplitudes as output.

Abstract: This paper intends toanalyze the interconnections betweenliterature, history and societyin the poem Do Beco da Vila Ricaof Cora Coralina (1889-1985). In it,observe as the poetess registered,through the memory of the alleys,the history of women of the brazilianinterior in centuries XIX andXX under the look of the periphery,of that they were to the edgein considered “the good society”, atlast, from the alleys, coronary valvesof its old city.
