Expressive features of topographic maps

Abstract: In the field of official topographic cartography Serbia has a long tradition which origin dates from Princedom of Serbia. On the territory of Serbia and former federal state, there have been conducted several surveys in the field, of which the last one was conducted in the period from 1947 to 1967. Based on that survey, the entire area of ex state was covered with topographic maps, but some of them are interested for example at the scale from 1:25 000 up to 1:100 000. That maps are analyzed in this article, specially their characteristics.

Abstract: Podatki na topografski karti se geometri no in tematsko deloma razlikujejo od dejanskega stanja v naravi. Za dolo itev geometri ne natan nosti se uporablja primerjava podatkov na karti s pravimi in pogojno pravimi vrednostmi na natan nej em viru. Pri tem se obi ajno uporabljajo numeri ni podatki polo ajnih in vi inskih mre ali podatki kart ve jega merila, na katerih je mogo e primerjalno zanemariti napake posameznih objektov glede na merilo. Tak na metoda omogo a neposredno oceno natan nosti tiskanih kart in reprodukcijskih originalov v primerjavi z eksperimentalno metodo, pri kateri se obravnavajo in dolo ajo napake posameznih faz v procesu izdelave topografskih kart. Geometri na in v veliki meri tematska natan nost topografskih kart nista vedno zadovoljivi, kar je odvisno od na ina izmere in tipa vsebine, na primer od geodetskih to k, ki so natan nej e, do podatkov vegetacije, katere polo ajna natan nost je najslab a ; The data quality of topographic maps involves a degree of deviations of geometric and thematic content from their actual position and status in nature, respectively. For determining the geometric accuracy, comparative way of testing is usually applied, namely the comparison of measured values of topographic maps with "true" or "conditionally true" values (numeric data of positional and elevation network or data of a map in a larger scale, where the content errors of individual elements could be neglected in comparison due to differences in the scale of mapping). This method gives a direct accuracy assessment of printed maps and reproduction originals, as opposed to the experimental method which considers and determines errors in certain phases in the process of making topographic maps. Geometric, and to a large extent thematic accuracy of topographic maps are not always reliable enough and depend on the way of surveying and the type of contents, i.e. from geodetic control points, which are more accurate, to vegetation whose positional accuracy is the worst.
Cartographic conic projections and their appliance in national cartography

Abstract: This paper is dedicated to the mapping of conic projections and their appliance in producing maps of our state cartography. So far they were often applied, and will be used precisely coned, polyconed and modified polyconed projections for the official mapping (1:500 000, 1:750 000, 1:1000 000 and 1:1500 000). In particular, they cartographic conical projection at a scale of 1:1000 000 were taken into consideration. Those are the Lambert conformal conical projection with two standard parallels and the Modified polyconic projections. In addition to these cartographic conical projections, is described Boneo`s pseudoconic equivalent projections. This is one of the cartographic conical map projection that is commonly used in the preparation of thematic maps as well as for atlas editions of geographic maps both in Serbia and abroad.
Modeling processes on topographic maps

Abstract: The paper deals the procedures and processes in the modeling of topographic data. There are some fazes and procedures of modeling of topographic data in digital form. It deals in capturing, modeling, distributing and archiving of data. Sometimes many procedures are need for convertion and transformation from one format to other, from one system to other. The procedure of modeling data is a very important way and with computer-aided along with a certain degree of automatizaton that is useful for using and updating of topographic contents. .
The new cartographic projects in the Military Geographical Institute

Abstract: This paper gives an overview and some details about a few new projects in area of digital cartography production of Military Geographical Institute. The maps are presented at scales 1:25.000, 1.250.000, 1:300.000 and 1:1.000.000. All of them are made in order to satisfy rigorous criterion of Serbian Armed Forces, as a main user of those maps. Those are the first digital topographic, overview topographic and geographic maps in Serbia, too.
Positional accuracy of geographical information and recent standards for its evaluation

Abstract: Positional accuracy is important quantity element of quality of geographical information in digital as well as in analoguos form. This paper points to importance and necessity of evaluation of positional accuracy in recent conditions, describes two modern standards for positional accuracy evaluation and shows the results of its implementation on raster topographic map at scale 1:50.000 made by Military Geographical Institute.

Abstract: Recently Veselin Borisov, a professor of social medicine in the Medical University in Sofia, who is born in the village of Skomlya, near Belogradchik, has written a new and still unpublished book: “The chef d’oevure of God: Belogradchik visions.” An excerpt from the poetry section of the book is presented. All of the rhymes chosen are inspired from the poet’s memory from his schooling in Belogradchik and for his work as a physician in the Belogradchik hospital.

Abstract: The first (and last) higher school year began in Belogradchik in the autumn of 1995. Two University programss were launched: Management of Culture and Tourism and Management of Health Services. The students were 90 in total. Formally they were students of the Business Academy at Svishtov. The beginning of higher education in Belogradchik was not successful. Under unfavourable circumstances, described in brief in the present article, the higher education in Belogradchik was ceased.
Asymptotics for the solutions of elliptic systems with fast oscillating coefficients

Abstract: We consider a singularly perturbed second order elliptic system in the whole space. The coefficients of the systems fast oscillate and depend both of slow and fast variables. We obtain the homogenized operator and in the uniform norm sense we construct the leading terms of the asymptotics expansion for the resolvent of the operator described by the system. The convergence of the spectrum is established. The convergence of the spectrum is established. The examples are given.
On the spectrum of two quantum layers coupled by a window

Abstract: We consider the Dirichlet Laplacian in a domain two three-dimensional parallel layers having common boundary and coupled by a window. The window produces the bound states below the essential spectrum; we obtain two-sided estimates for them. It is also shown that the eigenvalues emerge from the threshold of essential spectrum as the window passes through certain critical shapes. We prove the necessary condition for the window to be of critical shape. Under an additional assumption we show that this condition is sufficient and obtain the asymptotic expansion for the emerging eigenvalue as well as for the associated eigenfunction.
