Una nueva especie de Eocaiman Simpson (Crocodylia, Alligatoridae) del Paleoceno Inferior de Patagonia

Abstract: eocaiman simpson represents one of the few known taxa of alligatorids from the paleogene of south america. this genus is accurately recorded in patagonia in the late eocene, with e. cavernensis simpson, and in the middle miocene in the area of la venta, colombia, with eocaiman sp. in this paper a new species, eocaiman palaeocenicus sp. nov., from the upper levels of the salamanca formation (lower paleocene) is described on the basis of new remains recently found in the coastal zone of the province of chubut, argentina. the alligatoridae are poorly represented in the paleogene in south america and they have not been recorded in the upper cretaceous in this continent. however, the presence of e. palaeocenicus sp. nov. in the lower paleocene of patagonia supports the hypothesis of an early diversification of caimaninae in south america.

Abstract: Rabelais, Zole, Camus have seen that the judments are based on many – sided thought processes, and not only on legal rationality. The article want to demonstrate that these intuitions are confirmed by the psycholgy and cognitive sciences. To hit the mark, the article analyses an extract ofGargantua and Pantagruele, Thérèse Raquin and The stranger, comparing the pieces of these works to some psychological tests. The article shows that Rabelais has rightly seen how much some heuristics are important to come to a decision; that Zola has seen the importance of the expectations in the perception of eyewitnesses; that Camus has described the deformations that could be produced in the course of the evidence. In the end, the article shows that sometimes the justice is most clear in the great writers’ work and not, like Erasmus said, collecting glosses and glosses. Rabelais, Zola, Camus hanno intuito che le sentenze spesso si reggono su complessi meccanismi psicologici, oltre che sulla razionalità giuridica. Ci si chiede se queste intuizioni trovino conferma nelle più recenti acquisizioni della psicologia della decisione e delle scienze cognitive. Per rispondere al quesito si analizzano passi del Gargantua e Pantagruele, di Thérèse Raquin, de Lo straniero, mettendoli a confronto con alcuni esperimenti condotti in ambito psicologico. Si dimostra come Rabelais abbia correttamente intuito quanto rilevino le euristiche nella decisione, come Zola abbia colto il ruolo delle aspettative nella percezione da parte dei testi, come Camus abbia descritto le distorsioni che si possono produrre nella fase narrativa della testimonianza. Se ne conclude che a volte la materia della giustizia si intende meglio esplorando le opere dei grandi autori che non, per dirla con Erasmo, ammucchiando glosse su glosse.
L'influenza di Pier Paolo Pasolini sui film e sullo stile cinematografico di Nanni Moretti: un'analisi

Abstract: Pasolini e Moretti sono due registi-intellettuali di generazioni diverse, considerati figure di grande rilievo per la portata delle loro opere. Le similitudini che li accomunano sono molte e notevoli altrettanto quanto le differenze che li dividono: controverso e scandaloso il primo, meno anomalo ma non meno innovativo il secondo, sono entrambi registi politici dichiaratamente comunisti e capaci di intuire il futuro. Perché studiarli insieme? Anzitutto per l ottica in cui si pongono nei confronti della società, per le loro riflessioni sul ruolo dell intellettuale e per l importanza attribuita da entrambi al linguaggio e alla comunicazione. Poi, per il fatto che Moretti ha apertamente riconosciuto fra i suoi punti di riferimento cinematografici proprio Pasolini. Quest ultima ragione può essere presa come spunto per cercare quanto c è di pasoliniano nei lavori di Moretti, a livello di pensiero e di tecnica cinematografica. Caro diario (1994), in particolare, è un omaggio esplicito a Pasolini, che probabilmente va persino oltre le intenzioni iniziali del regista romano, e va pertanto tenuto in particolare considerazioneIl presente lavoro è composto da quattro parti. Nella prima, si discute la figura di Pasolini. La seconda parte è un breve excursus su Moretti, le sue idee, le sue opere. La terza parte contiene l analisi di Caro Diario. Nelle conclusioni, infine, dai punti salienti dell analisi si trarranno alcuni spunti di riflessione.

Abstract: This paper contains a criticism of the article: Ch. Simon, V. Buzek and N. Gisin: ``No-Signaling Condition and Quantum Dynamics'', Phys. Rev. Lett. 87 (2001) 170405, containing a proposal of adoption into quantum mechanics (QM) a new basic axiom. This axiom was declared to imply linearity of time evolution in QM on the basis of kinematic assumptions only. It is shown why, under the considered conditions, the axiom called ``no-signaling condition'' is not effective.
Geometric Formulation of Nonlinear Quantum Mechanics for Density Matrices

Abstract: Proposals for nonlinear extenstions of quantum mechanics are discussed. Two different concepts of "mixed state" for any nonlinear version of quantum theory are introduced: (i) >genuine mixture< corresponds to operational "mixing" of different ensembles, and (ii) a mixture described by single density matrix without having a canonical operational possibility to pick out its specific convex decomposition is called here an >elementary mixture<. Time evolution of a class of nonlinear extensions of quantum mechanics is introduced. Evolution of an elementary mixture cannot be generally given by evolutions of components of its arbitrary convex decompositions. The theory is formulated in a "geometric form": It can be considered as a version of Hamiltonian mechanics on infinite dimensional space of density matrices. A quantum interpretation of the theory is sketched.
On Symmetries in Nonlinear Quantum Mechanics

Abstract: It is shown how nonlinear versions of quantum mechanics can be refolmulated in terms of a (linear) C*-algebraic theory. Then also their symmetries are described as automorphisms of the correspondong C*-algebra. The requirement of "conservation of transition probabilities" is discussed.
Charmless hadronic B decays at BABAR

Abstract: Using 22.7M BBbar events collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC, we present preliminary measurements of the branching fractions for charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into two-body, quasi two-body and three-body final states with pions, kaons, and rho and a0 resonances. In the search for exclusive $B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$, we measure ${\cal B}(B^0 \to \rho^{\pm}(770)\pi^{\mp})=(28.9\pm5.4\pm4.3) \times 10^{-6}$, together with the relative asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm phys} = -0.04 \pm 0.18 \pm 0.02$. We also set the upper limits on $B^0 \to \rho^0(770)\pi^0$, non-resonant $B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$, $B^0 \to a_0^{\pm}(\to \eta\pi^{\pm})\pi^{\mp}$ and $B^0 \to K^0\bar K^0$.
Some considerations on topologies of infinite dimensional unitary coadjoint orbits

Abstract: The topology of the embedding of the coadjoint orbits of the unitary group U(H) of an in-finite dimensional complex Hilbert space H, as canonically determined subsets of the B-space T_s of symmetric trace class operators, is investigated. The space T_s is identified with the B-space predual of the Lie-algebra L(H)_s of the Lie group U(H). It is proved, that orbits con-sisting of symmetric operators with finite range are (regularly embedded) closed submanifolds of T_s. An alternative method of proving this fact is given for the `one-dimensional' orbit, i.e. for the projective Hilbert space P(H). Also a technical assertion concerning existence of simply related decompositions into one-dimensional projections of two unitary equivalent (orthogonal) projections in their `generic mutual position' is formulated, proved, and illustrated.

Abstract: We study Stirling permutations defined by Gessel and Stanley. We prove that their generating function according to the number of descents has real roots only. We use that fact to prove that the distribution of these descents, and other, equidistributed statistics on these objects converge to a normal distribution.
