Chronomodulated drug delivery system: A comprehensive review on the recent advances in a new sub-discipline of ′chronopharmaceutics′
Bisht Rohit
Asian Journal of Pharmaceutics , 2011,
Abstract: With the advancement in the field of chronobiology, modern drug delivery approaches have been elevated to a new concept of chronopharmacology, that is, the ability to deliver the therapeutic agent to a patient in a staggered profile. The mammalian circadian pacemaker resides in the paired suprachiasmatic nuclei and influences a multitude of biological processes, including the sleep-wake rhythm. Clock genes are the genes that control the circadian rhythms in physiology and behavior. Twenty-four hours rhythms are demonstrated for the function of physiology and the pathophysiology of diseases. The effectiveness and toxicity of many drugs vary depending on the dosing time. Such chronopharmacological phenomena are influenced by not only the pharmacodynamics, but also the pharmacokinetics of medications. The underlying mechanisms are associated with the 24-hour rhythms of biochemical, physiological, and behavioral processes under the control of the circadian clock. New technology for delivering medications precisely in a time-modulated fashion, by bedside or ambulatory pumps, is being developed to manage human diseases. From the point of view of pharmaceutics, the application of a biological rhythm to pharmacotherapy may be accomplished by the appropriate timing of conventionally formulated tablets and capsules, and a special drug delivery system, to synchronize the drug concentrations with the rhythms in the disease activity. Therefore, the present article gives an overview of the dosing time-dependent alterations in the therapeutic outcome and safety of the drug. The underlying mechanisms and usefulness are introduced from the point of view of chronopharmacology and chronotherapy.
Power Quality in Grid with Distributed Generation
Tanuj Bisht
International Journal of Trends in Economics Management and Technology , 2012,
Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the basicunderstanding of power quality in relation to the distributedgeneration and renewable based distribution generation Due toconsiderable overlap between two technologies, disturbancesaffecting the power quality, which are mainly cause by theaddition of Distributed Generation on the existing power systemnetwork. Injection of the DG into an electric power grid canaffect the voltage quality. Distributed generation of differentvoltage levels when connected to the power system networkcould influence the voltage regulation, sustained interruptions, harmonics, sags, swells, etc. The role of CPDs in enhancing theintegration of renewable and providing quality power throughcustoms power park are described.
Who is A Child? : The Adults’ Perspective within Adult-Child Relationship in India
Rachita Bisht
Interpersona : An International Journal on Personal Relationships , 2008,
Abstract: Based on the assumption that childhood is a social construct, this qualitative study explores how children across ages, are perceived by adults. Using modified grounded theory approach, seven adults, teachers by profession, were informally interviewed over several sessions, supplemented by TAT-like picture cards. Theoretical coding led to the extraction of the following key themes. To begin with, participants divided childhood into several phases, each characterized by distinct adult-child relationship and interaction. Secondly, compared to earlier times, children of today were seen as maturing faster along with greater democratization in adult-child relationships. And finally, analysis of social position of children in participants’ interviews showed that children were being perceived using an ideology of dependency and incompetency that manifested in various marginalizing practices within adult-child relationship.

Journal of Environmental Protection (JEP) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jep.2011.27110
Abstract: Radioactivity of the nuclides 238U, 226Ra, 232Th and 40K was measured in soil by γ-ray spectrometry using HPGe detector. A criterion was set in order to analyse soil samples from plain, semi-hilly and hilly areas in northern India. More than three γ-ray energy peaks were used for the determination of 226Ra and 232Th activity concentrations to obtain more accurate results. Some of these peaks have interfering energies, which was caused by the limited resolution of the detector, but they were resolved theoretically and used in the analysis because of their significance in reducing the random error to its minimum level. Relationships between the measured radionuclides have been discussed elaborately. Radionuclides 238U and 226Ra were found in disequilibrium with ratio of specific activities 238U/, 226Ra) less than unity for most of the samples. In some cases this disequilibrium may be significant enough to modify the γ-ray dose factors.
Insights on the structural characteristics of NDM-1: The journey so far  [PDF]
Avneet Saini, Rohit Bansal
Advances in Biological Chemistry (ABC) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/abc.2012.24040
Abstract: New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM-1) has created a medical storm ever since it was first reported; as it is active on virtually all clinically used β-lactam antibiotics. NDM-1 rampancy worldwide is now considered a nightmare scenario, particularly due to its rapid dissemination. An underlying theme in the majority of recent studies is structural characterization as knowledge of the three-dimensional structure of NDM-1 shall help find connections between its structure and function. Moreover, structural details are even critical in order to reveal the resistance mecha- nism to β-lactam antibiotics. In this perspective, we review structural characteristics of NDM-1 that have been delineated since its first report. We anticipate that these structure-function connections made by its characterization shall further serve as future guidelines for elucidating pathways towards de novo design of functional inhibitors.

Journal of Financial Risk Management (JFRM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jfrm.2012.14012
Abstract: This paper attempts to design and test empirical models, which integrate theoretical, institutional, and other factors, which interact to explain ownership structure. Ex-ante information at the level of under-pricing succeeds the Indian stock market crunch. The study is based on IPO that listed at Bombay stock exchange given that April 2000 to December 2011. Multiple linear regressions are used to distinguish the relationship between various independent variables with the dependent variable, i.e. level of underpricing. The outcomes of multiple regressions reveal that, firm’s age, IPO years, book building pricing mechanism, ownership structure, issue size, & market capitalization explained 44% of the variation in issuer under-pricing, Durbin Watson’s value subsisted 1.58, which indicates that, there is a positive sequential rela-tionship between variables. Number of share offered, issue size, market capitalization, subscription offer timing, book building mechanism and IPO years 2006, 2009 & 2011 are constructed to have important effect on the level of underpricing after the Indian market crisis. Nevertheless, firm’s age, IPOs year 2008, private issuing firms, non institutional promoters, Indian promoters and non institutional non promoters contain no significant difference in the level of underpricing after-market crisis.
Anaemia in a Patient with Diffuse Systemic Scleroderma  [PDF]
Karan Grover, Rohit Peshin
International Journal of Clinical Medicine (IJCM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ijcm.2013.47056
Abstract: We hereby present a case of anaemia in a 73 years old patient with known past medical history of diffuse systemic scleroderma, who presented with acute onset of dizziness and haemetemesis. Blood tests revealed sudden drop of haemoglobin and an urgent gastroscopy revealed gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) or watermelon stomach. GAVE is a rare but well recognised cause of acute bleeding in systemic scleroderma patients and should be kept as a differential diagnosis in the work up of anaemia in these patients.

Open Journal of Internal Medicine (OJIM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojim.2013.34026

Plasma cell pleocytosis has been seen in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis of patients with multiple myeloma, multiple sclerosis, leukemia, west nile encephalitis and lymphoma. There also have been some anecdotal reports suggesting the presence of plasma cells in CSF as possible early indicator of WNV encephalitis. We describe a case of plasma cell pleocytosis in CSF due to HSV-2 meningitis, adding it to the list of possible etiologies for the same.

Effect of Query Formation on Web Search Engine Results

Computer Science , 2013,
Abstract: Query in a search engine is generally based on natural language. A query can be expressed in more than one way without changing its meaning as it depends on thinking of human being at a particular moment. Aim of the searcher is to get most relevant results immaterial of how the query has been expressed. In the present paper, we have examined the results of search engine for change in coverage and similarity of first few results when a query is entered in two semantically same but in different formats. Searching has been made through Google search engine. Fifteen pairs of queries have been chosen for the study. The t-test has been used for the purpose and the results have been checked on the basis of total documents found, similarity of first five and first ten documents found in the results of a query entered in two different formats. It has been found that the total coverage is same but first few results are significantly different.
