Empirical Analysis of Interactive Control’s Effectiveness: A Parent-Subsidiary Company’s Interdependence Perspective  [PDF]
Biao Luo, Jie-Jie Yu, Hong-Mei Ji
iBusiness (IB) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ib.2012.43025
Abstract: Due to the increasingly complex business environment and the principal-agent relationship, the enterprise group should establish a control system to prevent agency risk. Besides traditional system control, the parent company tends to adopt an interactive control including decentralized decision making, process communication and target incentive to guide and govern the subsidiaries. As an elastic control mechanism, the interactive control’s effectiveness could be influenced by the resources dependence relationship which is objective existence between the parent and subsidiary company. Based on the classical literature review, this study analyzes the effects of interaction control to the performance (“interactive control → performance”) and the interdependence’s regulating role by a total sample and a multiple-group structural equation analysis based on Chinese groups’ data, the results show that the interactive control could improve the subsidiaries’ performance, but different control process has its particular applicable interdependence situation. In the conclusions, we proposed some suggestions to promote the interactive control’s effectiveness in the enterprise group’s management practices.
The Influence of Interactive Control on Subsidiary Performance: A Mediating Role of Subsidiary Managers’ Strategic Behavior  [PDF]

American Journal of Operations Research (AJOR) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ajor.2012.24056
Abstract: Under the principal-agent relationship, there are two major factors that directly affect subsidiary strategy’s implementation and performance—enterprise groups’ internal interactive control and subsidiary managers’ strategic behavior. Prior research showed that the parent companies hope their subsidiary managers to be obedient and active, i.e. to keep a high degree of strategic identity and subsidiary initiative. We build and analyze a model to test the mediating role of strategic identity and subsidiary initiative based on data collected from Chinese groups. The results show that interactive control, strategic identity and subsidiary initiative all could improve subsidiary performance, furthermore, subsidiary initiative is a mediator between decision-making decentralization and subsidiary performance, and also a mediator between horizontal communication and subsidiary performance, the mediating role of strategic identity is not tested, but vertical communication can improve strategic identity. In the conclusions, we provide guidance on how parent companies to choose excellent subsidiary managers, and then how to develop a suite interactive control system.

Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2015.81004
Abstract: In this paper, we estimated the level of “Two Oriented Society” of Anhui province industrial sector by Principal Component Analysis based on the data of 2000-2008, then we constructed a grey correctional degree model to analyze the relationship between R & D investment and “Two Oriented Society”. The empirical results showed that R & D investment would promote “Two Oriented Society” construction, especially the high-quality scientists.

American Journal of Operations Research (AJOR) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ajor.2012.23049
Abstract: Cigarette market is a kind of monopoly market which is closed loop running, it depends on the plan mechanism to schedule producing, supplying and selling, but the “bullwhip effect” still exists. So it has a fundamental significance to do sales forecasting work. It needs to considerate the double trend characteristics, history sales data and other main factors that affect cigarette sales. This paper depends on the panel data of A province’s cigarette sales, first we established three single forecasting models, after getting the predicted value of these single models, then using the combination forecasting method which based on PLS to predict the province’s cigarette sales of the next year. The results show that the prediction accuracy is good, which could provide a certain reference to cigarette sales forecasting in A province.
The Construction of the Non-Material Incentive Model for the Firm Operator’s Compensation Contract in China  [PDF]
Biao Luo, Shan-Shan Zheng, Hong-Mei Ji, Chao Gong
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2012.53035
Abstract: Effective compensation contract is the most driving force that encourages the operator of the firm to work hard. This article, considering the ability of the operator, built a model of compensation contract with some explanatory variables, such as effort level and risk attitude of the operator, coefficient of input flexibility, and coefficient of discount. Then, it tried to use the principal-agent theory to solve the model of explicit function, and analyzed the model based on material incentive and non-material incentive in the mechanism of profit sharing; the conclusion had important practical significance for the firm to implement the performance management.
A Type of Combination Forecasting Method Based on Time Series Method and PLS  [PDF]
Liang Wan, Biao Luo, Hong-Mei Ji, Wei-Wei Yan
American Journal of Operations Research (AJOR) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ajor.2012.24055
Abstract: This paper depends on the panel data of Anhui province and its 17 cities’ cigarette sales. First we established three single forecasting models (Holter-Wintel Season product model, Time series model decomposing model and Partial least square regression model), after getting the predicted value of cigarette sales from these single models, we then employ the combination forecasting method based on Time Series method and PLS to predict the province and its 17 cities’ cigarette sales of the next year. The results show that the accuracy of prediction is good which could provide a reliable reference to cigarette sales forecasting in Anhui province and its 17 cities.
A Self-organized Public-Key Certificate System in P2P network
Zhen Luo,Zhishu Li,Biao Cai
Journal of Networks , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/jnw.6.10.1437-1443
Abstract: P2P network is open, anonymous and dynamical in contrast with conventional network. It’s full of dishonesty, deceit, selfishness. It’s necessary to build a robust security infrastructure system. The one important module of security infrastructure is to identify the users in transactions. This paper will propose an identification solution based on PKI. In our algorithm, the peer generates their public-private key pairs by themselves, issues certificates, and performs authentication without any centralized services. It can realize the identification, meanwhile keep peers anonymous. Moreover, it can limit the quantity of ID that a user applies for; alleviate the risk of Sybil attack.
Quasi-energies and Floquet states of two weakly coupled Bose-Einstein condensates under periodic driving
Xiaobing Luo,Qiongtao Xie,Biao Wu
Physics , 2007, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.77.053601
Abstract: We investigate the quasi-energies and Floquet states of two weakly coupled Bose-Einstein condensates driven by a periodic force. The quasi-energies and Floquet states of this system are computed within two different theoretical frameworks: the mean-field model and the second-quantized model. The mean-field approach reveals a triangular structure in the quasi-energy band. Our analysis of the corresponding Floquet states shows that this triangle signals the onset of a localization phenomenon, which can be regarded as a generalization of the well-known phenomenon called coherent destruction of tunneling. With the second quantized model, we find also a triangular structure in the quantum quasi-energy band, which is enveloped by the mean-field triangle. The close relation between these two sets of quasi-energies is further explored by a semi-classical method. With a Sommerfeld rule generalized to time-dependent systems, the quantum quasi-energies are computed by quantizing semiclassically the mean-field model and they are found to agree very well with the results obtained directly with the second-quantized model.
Nonlinear coherent destruction of tunneling
Xiaobing Luo,Qiongtao Xie,Biao Wu
Physics , 2007, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.76.051802
Abstract: We study theoretically two coupled periodically-curved optical waveguides with Kerr nonlinearity. We find that the tunneling between the waveguides can be suppressed in a wide range of parameters due to nonlinearity. Such suppression of tunneling is different from the coherent destruction of tunneling in a linear medium, which occurs only at the isolated degeneracy point of the quasienergies. We call this novel suppression nonlinear coherent destruction of tunneling.
All-optical switch with two periodically curved nonlinear waveguides
Qiongtao Xie,Xiaobing Luo,Biao Wu
Physics , 2008, DOI: 10.1364/OL.35.000321
Abstract: We propose a type of all-optical switch which consists of two periodically curved nonlinear optical waveguides placed in parallel. Compared to the all-optical switch based on the traditional nonlinear directional coupler with straight waveguides, this all-optical switch has much lower switching threshold power and sharper switching width.
