Abstract: uterine involution of 111 calvings of 104 dairy gir cows, checked by rectal palpation, was studied. uterine involution averaged 29.7± 9.6 days, and cervical involution delayed more than 43 days. in both cases, time of involution increased with parity. in the first postpartum week uterus remained in abdominal cavity (95.0%) and in the second week uterus initiated its return to the pelvic cavity (8.2%). in the third week 20.6% had completed uterine involution. the total involution was identified in 82.9% of the cows, in the sixth week. some cases of involuting uterus still remained in abdominal (n=6) or abdominal/pelvic (n=8) cavity, after the fifth postpartum week, observed only in multiparous cows. in 19 cows was detected retrocession of natural sequence of uterine involution phases. uterus retrocession to abdominal cavity was observed only in cows with sanitary problems. in seven cows with metritis, uterine time of involution was longer and enlargement of cervix was also observed.

Abstract: Studies on peri urban farming in Zambia have not adequately tackled the issues pertaining to heavy metal contaminated wastewater irrigation farming. The study investigated heavy metal contamination of water, soils and crops at two peri urban areas in Zambia. Two study sites were New Farm Extension in Mufulira Town in the Copperbelt Province and Chilumba Gardens in Kafue Town in Lusaka Province. The heavy metals investigated were lead, copper, cobalt, nickel and chromium. These heavy metals were found to be higher than acceptable limits in wastewater used to irrigate crops and there are potential human health risks associated with consumption of heavy metal contaminated food crops which have implications on the livelihoods of people. Samples of water, soil and crops were collected and analysed for lead (Pb), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co) and nickel (Ni) using the Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The data on heavy metals was analysed using mean, standard error and T-test. The results indicated that the levels of heavy metals in wastewater, soil and food crops were above acceptable limits at two study sites. It can be concluded that there was heavy metal contamination of wastewater, soil and food crops at the two peri-urban areas in Zambia. The study highlighted the actual levels of heavy metal contaminant uptake in food crops consumed by the peri urban population. The information from this study can be used by the relevant authorities to develop appropriate measures for monitoring and control of heavy metal contamination in wastewater irrigation farming systems in peri urban areas inZambia.

Creative Education (CE) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2018.92021
Abstract: In this article we identify and analyze texts on physics questions in seven editions of a Brazilian national exam, with the purpose of bringing contributions to teaching planning and pedagogical actions with the perspective of supporting the creation of socio-scientific discussions (SSD), capable of inducing students in their citizenship development, in view of the difficulties of being worked in Sciences/Physics teaching environments appointed by the literature. A Brazilian state was chosen as a field, whose locus included six municipalities and 12 public institutions of basic education. Given that the results seem to distort the reality of the school context, the aforementioned difficulties were then theoretically and empirically disassembled, proving to be potentially minimized with the establishment of trails that enable the teacher to work on SSD identified in materials of easy and universal access, which contributes with advancement in the field of Science-Technology-Society education.

Abstract: there will only be resistance to violent action when human awareness is awakened. that is why the author appeals to authentic religions, hoping they may create the conditions for world peace - not only through prayers, but above all by establishing a climate of world peace. so far, in this new phase of facing an increasingly agonizing problem, little has been required from the world of religions and still less from young people's initiatives. in brief, the author's proposal is for the university of s?o paulo to create the conditions to prepare young people for their future responsibility in favor of peace. this should begin as soon as, and persevere as much as possible. a world ethics would certainly be welcome at this time.
