Abstract: We use theoretical fields about aspects of the Teaching and Learning processes related to the Motivational Process and reviews elements of the conceptualization of motivation, as a process who involves external/extrinsic and internal/intrinsic components, including elements of interpersonal relationships. The research data are qualitative, using 34 teachers’ field diaries, obtained after the workshops developed with them, complemented with our infield (unsystematic) observations, in three schools, about: their pedagogical practice, motivation, aspects of his/her malaise and well-being, reflections about their self-image and self-esteem, autonomy and cooperation for motivation in education. Their qualitative speeches were pointed on field diaries, complemented with observations, obtained in the meetings with these teachers. They are analyzed by Content Analysis Technique and the categories we found are: 1) Initial conceptions that subjects bring on the subject motivation; 2) Relation between malaise/wellbeing and teacher’s motivation; 3) Relation among self-image, self-esteem and motivation; 4) Cooperation for motivation in the profession. We stress the need and importance of conducting positive aspects related to the subjectivity aspects of the teacher and students’ relationships, remembering that the three components (knowledge, skills and attitudes/affect) interact constantly. We still see that our field research needs to be expanded, with a view to provide continuing education for the teachers (also students and parents) to make them aware of the importance of motivation related to his/her well-being.

Abstract: the purpose of this work is to rethink the process of capitalist development, pointing out to some of global society's numerous contradictions. two central issues are examined: the growing process of social exclusion of a sizable part of the world population and the role of the nation-state. the latter is seen as extremely relevant in the light of the system's intrinsic trend to concentrate wealth while expanding poverty, when the state comes as the only real safeguard for vital interests of those excluded in each country. some aspects of the current crisis in the capitalist system and the impact of the neoliberal model in deepening social contradictions and polarizing class interests are also discussed. a reflection on alternative forms of social organization is put forward.
Do artesanato intelectual ao contexto virtual: ferramentas metodológicas para a pesquisa social
Santos, Tania Steren dos;
Sociologias , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-45222009000200007
Abstract: this article examines different methodological procedures, and especially the research techniques. it characterizes both the traditional and the new strategies of social research that are used within the context of the information society. the author emphasizes the impact of incorporating the new computing and communication technologies in the bibliographic and documental research, as well as the field research. furthermore, the article questions the dichotomy of quantitative and qualitative approaches, considering its complementarity and interfaces. the paradigm of complexity in the epistemological perspective shows considerable progress, but as an operating methodology it is still in its initial stages. in this sense, the study addresses the issue of triangulation, designed as a promising procedure in the search for the quantitative-qualitative approach. considering the arguments, the author intends to explore further into the characteristics of the procedures and technical resources that can be used by researchers seeking to develop joint research projects.

Santos, Tania Steren dos;
Trabalho, Educa??o e Saúde , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1981-77462009000300007
Abstract: this article discusses, in a comparative way, the objective reality and representations of men and women concerning their work in medicine and the interfaces with the domestic sphere. discrimination, incentives, and obstacles in careers are analyzed from the perspective of gender and generations. data was collected at the hospital de clínicas de porto alegre (hcpa), integrating quantitative and qualitative techniques. the results indicate that in order to explain career incentive factors, women seem to give more importance to private life elements while men put more emphasis on external factors. both stress the importance of having a 'model' professional as ideal for professional practice and a positive academic environment with institutional support and good relationships with coworkers. among the obstacles are overwork, lack of time, and financial difficulties, observing that there are differences of gender in regards to family life and personal problems. women's 'comparative advantages' were highlighted in carrying out their activities. this study may contribute to the implementation of positive actions to improve the conditions of work life and gender equity, in both the public and private spheres.
