Berón,María Paula;
El hornero , 2003,
Abstract: in this paper i present information on the diet of juveniles of olrog's gull (larus atlanticus) in two estuaries of buenos aires province (mar chiquita and punta rasa). the grapsid crab chasmagnathus granulatus was the most important prey (in frequency as well as in abundance) in both sampling sites. other crab species were occasionally present in the diet. the average size of consumed chasmagnathus granulatus differed significantly between the two sampling sites. the number of crabs per pellet was lower than that observed in previous studies, and crab sizes were smaller than those consumed by adult gulls. this preference for smaller crabs could be related with lower costs of capture and handling in these preys.
Berón,Mónica Alejandra;
Quinto sol , 2007,
Abstract: scientific knowledge about la pampa province prehispanic past was in a second plan of relevance until a few years ago. nowadays, once this situation was reverted, we have at our disposal a wide panorama about its prehistory, from the earliest peuplement to the coexistence of indigenous peoples with hispanic society. such knowledge was achieved due to the efforts of several archaeologists and students, but especifically to the pioneer research work of carlos gradin. this paper deals with the latest advances in archaeological research of the center-south of la pampa. in addition to academic research, new approaches in archaeology require the development of participative tasks with local communities in order to make decisions about the final destiny of research results and of the material evidences that make up a part of the cultural local heritage.
Mortality and injuries of Olrog's Gull (Larus atlanticus) individuals associated with sport fishing activities in Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon, Buenos Aires Province
Berón,M. Paula; Favero,Marco;
El hornero , 2009,
Abstract: the olrog's gull (larus atlanticus) is an endemic species of the atlantic coasts of southern south america and is considered vulnerable to extinction. olrog's gull individuals of different age classes die in mar chiquita coastal lagoon, buenos aires province, while interacting with sport fisheries. due to its restricted distributional range and their scarce populations, a slight increase in mortality rates may easily affect populations of this species by altering survival rates of all or particular age classes. the evaluation of this impact and the proposal of mitigation measures (also comprising an educational component) are essential for the conservation of this species in non-breeding grounds.
Ab'Sáber, Aziz N.;Bernard, W.;
Boletim do Instituto Oceanográfico , 1953, DOI: 10.1590/S0373-55241953000100010
Abstract: this paper records a few geographic and archeologic observations related with several "sambaquís" found in the lagoon region of cananéia, in the south coast of the state of s. paulo. the major part of such shell-mounds were found to be lying directly upon beach or dune sand, their location being, generally, at the margin of a "marigot" (salt-water river). from the observations made at four different "sambaquís" the authors have concluded that these mounds may be considered a most valuable material for the investigation of the region's near past history. it is believed that at the time the "man-of-the-sambaquí" was living, the planimetric configuration of the isle of cananéia and other low parts of the region were considerably different than at the present time. the authors point out that all the former controversies between the "naturalist" and "artificialist" currents have been definitively settled by the work of guerra (1951, p. 3-18) in which the differences existing between the "sambaquís" and the "wave-built terraces" are demonstrated by this geographer. the lagoon region of cananéia with its "restingas", canals, etc., is thoroughly analysed and the probable configuration of the lagoon system and marine canals during the prehistoric period is examined. after a few speculative considerations about the prehistory of the region and after studying the stratification of the "sambaquís" layers together with the heterogenous materials which are included in them the authors present their hypothesis that the building of these mounds was probably connected with magic ritual practices.
Minimal Critical Sets of Refined Inertias for Irreducible Sign Patterns of Order 2  [PDF]

Advances in Linear Algebra & Matrix Theory (ALAMT) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/alamt.2013.32002
Abstract:

Let S be a nonempty, proper subset of all refined inertias. Then, S is called a critical set of refined inertias for ireducible sign patterns of order n if \"\" is sufficient for any sign pattern A to be refined inertially arbitrary. If no proper subset of Sis a critical set of refined inertias, then S is a minimal critical set of refined inertias for sign patterns of order n . In this paper, all minimal critical sets of refined inertias for irreducible sign patterns of order 2 are identified. As a by-product, a new approach is presented to identify all minimal critical sets of inertias for irreducible sign patterns of order 2.

Abstract: the bioarchaeological characterization of holocene hunter-gatherers has increased in recent years in the argentinean pampas. in the dry pampa sub-region, sites with well-conserved human remains are scarce. therefore, the subject of this paper is the possibility of analyzing cultural processes through mortuary practices at the beginning of the late holocene in the curacó area (la pampa province, argentina). the first radiocarbon chronology associated with "circular" artificial skull deformation is presented. the meaning of the information recorded is evaluated, and the presence of funerary areas related to the complexity processes of dry pampa hunter-gatherers is discussed.
Escleritis posterior bilateral

Anales del Sistema Sanitario de Navarra , 2011, DOI: 10.4321/S1137-66272011000200019
Abstract: posterior scleritis is an inflammatory process of the posterior part of the sclera. its prevalence is very low and its diagnosis can be complicated due to the absence of external ocular signs. it is more frequent in women. in young patients it does not usually have other associated pathologies, but in those over 55 years nearly one-third of the cases have a relation with some systemic disease, above all rheumatoid arthritis. the diagnosis of this pathology can require a multidisciplinary approach and the collaboration of ophthalmologists with neurologists, internists or rheumatologists. this article describes a case of idiopathic bilateral posterior scleritis.
DC conductivity of silicon nitride based carbon-ceramic composites

Processing and Application of Ceramics , 2007,
Abstract: The silicon nitride ceramics are usually known as strongly refractory and enduring materials and have typical electrically insulating properties. If the reinforcing phase of ceramic composite (that is mainly put in the material to improve mechanical properties) is a good electrical conductor, it is worth to investigate the composite in electrical aspect. In this work carbon nanotubes, black-carbon and graphite were added to the basic silicon nitride ceramic and the electrical conductivity of the prepared carbon-ceramic composites was determined. The conductivity of the ceramic composites with different type and concentration of the carbon additives was observed by applying four point DC resistance measurements. Insulator and conductor composites in a wide conductivity range can be produced depending on the type and quantity of the additives. The additive types as well as the sintering parameters have influence on the basic electrical properties of the conductor composites.

Posterior scleritis is an inflammatory process of the posterior part of the sclera. The bioarchaeological characterization of Holocene hunter-gatherers has increased in recent years in the Argentinean pampas.
