Bencomo, Anadeli;
Andamios , 2011,
Abstract: this article explores representation of violence in contemporary mexico in three books by sergio gonzález rodríguez. in his journalistic accounts as well as in other of his books, he approaches the homicides against women in ciudad juárez, the drug trafficking cartels and recent beheadings, in order to encompass a broader consideration of violence as a global phenomenon that exceeds mexico. thus his interdisciplinary analysis offers a model to rethink recent mexican violence in relation to the crisis of the national state, its judicial system, and its politics, vis-a vis processes of globalization.

Abstract: abstract the nursing staff is prone to develop burnout because of the work environment and the stressful situations that develop among patients and their families. burnout syndrome it?s a persistent negative mental state, work related and present in non pathologic populations. burnout has been associated to personality traits but the findings are too heterogeneous and do not allow plausible generalizations. to identify the relation between burnout, personality traits and psychological adjustment, questionnaires were applied to 117 subjects, all members of the nursing staff from a university hospital in maracaibo, venezuela. traits in burnout subjects were: sensibility to criticism, lack of confidence, poor social capacity and low psychological adjustment. the non-burnout subjects presented traits of optimism, reality in the way they viewed events, proper social abilities and high psychological adjustment. burnout syndrome is not a personality type and the traits associated with this syndrome seems to be associated with psychological adjustment.
Simulation of the aluminum alloy A356 solidification cast in cylindrical permanent molds

Abstract: a mathematical model based on the control volume method with fixed mesh was selected in order to simulate the solidification of cylindrical castings poured in permanent steel mold. the latent heat was incorporated using the effective specific heat. the application of the model allowed us to obtain the solidification front and the temperature fields at any time from the pouring. the mold was made of the sae 1010 steel. two mold temperatures were evaluated: 25°c and 300°c. the mathematical model showed sensitivity to changes in mold temperatures. for the casting poured with an initial mold temperature of 300°c, the solidification time was greater than that of the casting poured in the mold at 25°c. when the perfect contact condition between the mold and the metal was considered, the theoretical solidification times were shorter than the experimental results. when the imperfect contact supposition was assumed, this resulted in longer times of solidification very close to the experimental data. a reasonable fitting was reached when the heat transfer coefficient between mold and casting surfaces in the range of 100 to 500 w/m2 °k was used for the experiments with the mold at 25°c.

Gaceta Laboral , 2007,
Abstract: the main objective of this study was to analyze the normative aspects of temporary work companies (twc), using as a general reference the legal context of some latin american countries (argentina, chile, colombia, uruguay), and particularly the venezuelan case. methodology was an explanatory-descriptive type of research, supported by a bibliographical review of doctrinal and legal sources as well as jurisdictional decisions. these elements permitted an analysis of the present legal situation of twcs in venezuela, which, on one hand, assume the character of intermediaries according to the terms of article 54 of the statutory labor law, and on the other hand, are eliminated from the legal context on which they were based; in this sense, they have entered a situation of legal insecurity that directly affects the obligations and legitimate rights of employers, their temporary and permanent workers, as well as the companies that maintained legal connections with this figure, which in some ways, empowered employment in the country and fortified a labor market with greater flexibility.

Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2003,
Abstract: handwashing is considered the most important and effective infection control measure to prevent transmission of nosocomial pathogens. however, compliance with handwashing by health care workers is low. a new modality for hand hygiene is alcohol gel rub, which reduces time required, does not damage the skin and increases health care workers compliance. an observational study was conducted to assess the effect of alcohol-gel hand antiseptic on infection rates due to the 3 more frequent multi-resistant bacteria (staphylococcus aureus, klebsiella pneumoniae y pseudomonas aeruginosa) in our hospital. two periods were compared, 12 months before and 12 months after starting alcohol gel use. the second period (ag use) showed a significant reduction on incidence rates of klebsiella pneumoniae with extended spectrum betalactamase (rr: 0.38) overall infections and specially bacteremias (rr: 0.10). nevertheless, on the basis of this study, we cannot conclude that the result was due to ag itself or to an increase in hand-hygiene compliance.

Abstract: we propose a system of theoretical notions to describe teaching and learning mathematics processes and to assess the didactical suitability of these processes from a global perspective. the didactical suitability is conceived as the coherent and efficient articulation of the different dimensions involved in teaching and learning mathematics: epistemic, cognitive, interactive, mediational, emotional and ecological dimensions. the ?onto-semiotic approach? to mathematical cognition and instruction provides a categorization of elements composing each dimension, structuring these elements into epistemic cognitive and didactical configurations. this categorization and structuring allow explaining some didactical phenomena in terms of the onto-semiotic complexity involved. the set of theoretical notions are applied to analyze a teaching experience on the function notion with university students.
