Sobre el fracaso de la filosofía: absurdo, mística y locura en Maurice Merleau-Ponty
Belvedere,Carlos;
Enfoques , 2008,
Abstract: in this paper, i deal with merleau-ponty's conception of philosophy all along his writings. i start exposing his phenomenological-existential conception of philosophy because it introduces a variety of considerations concerning a philosophical approach to ambiguity, silence, mystic experience, and creation as a task for ontology. then i will take into consideration the analogy between madness and philosophical though, the flaws of philosophy and its self destruction. finally, i will assess the effort of philosophical thinking following merleau-ponnty's latest writings.
Phenomenology and the Social Sciences: a story with no beginning
Belvedere,Carlos;
Sociedad (Buenos Aires) , 2007,
Abstract: the relation between phenomenology and social sciences has gone through various stages. in phenomenological philosophy, its outstanding landmarks can be found in: a) the counterpoint that husserl posited for the different sciences and his mounting interest in social sciences, b) the reinforcement of this line of thought by his followers -schutz and merleau-ponty, for example-, and c) the radicalization of "non-intentional phenomenology" produced by levinas and henry. in the ambit of social sciences, schutz has been acknowledged to have been first in trying to establish the connection between both disciplines by broaching the phenomenology of the natural attitude understood as phenomenological psychology, thus freeing social sciences from the rule of philosophy because. from this perspective, they do not stem from it but from the life-world, a space that can be accessed by the methodology of social research, however restrictedly because it ends subdued to methodological deliberations. as a result, the relation between phenomenology and ontology remains unaccounted for. in this work we therefore outline a four-step program aimed at awaking social phenomenology from its dogmatic slumber.
Sobre el estatuto fenomenológico de lo social: prolegómenos a una sociología pura
Belvedere,Carlos;
Universitas Humanística , 2008,
Abstract: this article is part of a forthcoming book on the problems of social phenomenology, based on readings of the work of alfred schutz and his significance for contemporary social theory. here, we will concentrate on the preliminary problems of a pure sociology. we will investigate the meaning of the categorial act according to husserl, aiming to enlighten the fundamental question of the ontological statute of social issues. we will notice that a longstanding sociological tradition, which begins with durkheim and continues until schutz, has faced this issue in an unfruitful way. we will see, in both works, a "kantian dilemma" which we believe would find solution in the husserlian conception of the categorial act. we hope to make, with this work, a modest contribution to a future pure sociology.
About the Phenomenological Statute of Social Issues: The Beginning of a Pure Sociology

We will see, in both works, a “Kantian dilemma” which we believe would find solution in the Husserlian conception of the categorial act. We hope to make, with this work, a modest contribution to a future pure sociology.
La conciencia colectiva como “conjunto de fenómenos”: el programa de la fenomenología en el "Durkheim objetivista" = Collective consciousness as a “collection of phenomena”: the program of phenomenology in the “objectivist Durkheim”
Belvedere, Carlos
Civitas , 2011,
My aim is to disclose a programmatic convergence between Durkheim and Husserl in three different levels, thematic, methodological and ontological. In order to do so, I will carry out a phenomenological reading of The Rules of the Sociological Method in search of some core ideas of The Crisis of European Sciences and Transcendental Phenomenology and of The Origin of Geometry. I will also show, in accordance with Cathesian Meditations, that the sociological method is, in as much as phenomenology, a carthesian way. Then I will explain that Durkheim’s methodological and ontological stances present the same circularity as Husserl’s in Marion’s analysis. Then I will put on view that the way in which Durkheim faces it situates him in the phenomenology of the natural attitude undertaken by Schutz. Finally I will illustrate how Durkheim, just as Galileo according to Crisis…, is at a time a disclosing and a concealing genius and that’s the reason why he lets go the best of his social phenomenology, holding to a thoughtless anthropomorphism and to metaphysical dogmas which he didn’t get to put into brackets.
MáS ALLá DE LA ESENCIA: REDUCCIóN E HISTORIA, FILOSOFíA Y POLíTICA EN MERLEAU-PONTY?
Belvedere,Carlos Daniel;
Estudios de Filosofía , 2007,
Abstract: while discussing a letter from husserl to lévy brühl, merleau-ponty states that the eidetic of history does not deliver us from historical investigation. this conception has always been present in his work, and it has been modeled in different ways and composing combinations along his phenomenology, his philosophy of history, and his ontology. in each one of those stages he displays, respectively, a situationist, a structuralist, and a sensible conception of the essence. however, the exceedence of the lived respect to the thought things does not have to be interpreted as a defeat of the thought but as creation.
Semiclassical suppression of weak anisotropies of a generic Universe

Physics , 2009, DOI: 10.1209/0295-5075/86/69001
Abstract: A semiclassical mechanism which suppresses the weak anisotropies of an inhomogeneous cosmological model is developed. In particular, a wave function of this Universe having a meaningful probabilistic interpretation is obtained that is in agreement with the Copenhagen School. It describes the evolution of the anisotropies with respect to the isotropic scale factor which is regarded as a semiclassical variable playing an observer-like role. Near the cosmological singularity the solution spreads over all values of the anisotropies while, when the Universe expands sufficiently, the closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker model appears to be the favorite state.
Semi-classical isotropization of the Mixmaster Universe

Physics , 2009,
Abstract: A semi-classical mechanism which leads to the isotropization of the Mixmaster Universe is developed. A wave function of this Universe, which has a meaningful probabilistic interpretation, is constructed and it describes the evolution of the anisotropies of the Universe with respect to the isotropic scale factor, which plays the external observer-like role. We show that, once large volume regions are investigated, the closed Friedmann-Robertson-Walker configuration is deeply privileged.
Surface Density of dark matter haloes on galactic and cluster scales
A. Del Popolo,V. Cardone,G. Belvedere
Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1093/mnras/sts389
Abstract: In this paper, in the framework of the secondary infall model, the correlation between the central surface density and the halo core radius of galaxy, and cluster of galaxies, dark matter haloes was analyzed, this having recently been studied on a wide range of scales. We used Del Popolo (2009) secondary infall model taking into account ordered and random angular momentum, dynamical friction, and dark matter (DM) adiabatic contraction to calculate the density profile of haloes, and then these profiles are used to determine the surface density of DM haloes. The main result is that $r_\ast$ (the halo characteristic radius) is not an universal quantity as claimed by Donato et al. (2009) and Gentile et al. (2009). On the contrary, we find a correlation with the halo mass $M_{200}$ in agreement with Cardone & Tortora (2010), Boyarsky at al. (2009) and Napolitano et al. (2010), but with a significantly smaller scatter, namely $0.16 \pm 0.05$. We also consider the baryon column density finding this latter being indeed a constant for low mass systems such as dwarfs, but correlating with mass with a slope $\alpha= 0.18 \pm 0.05$. In the case of the surface density of dark matter for a system composed only of dark matter, as in dissipationless simulations, we get $\alpha=0.20 \pm 0.05$. These results leave little room for the recently claimed universality of (dark and stellar) column density.
On the Magnetic Field of Pulsars with Realistic Neutron Stars Configurations

Physics , 2014, DOI: 10.1088/0004-637X/799/1/23
Abstract: We have recently developed a neutron star model fulfilling global and not local charge neutrality, both in the static and in the uniformly rotating cases. The model is described by the coupled Einstein-Maxwell-Thomas- Fermi (EMTF) equations, in which all fundamental interactions are accounted for in the framework of general relativity and relativistic mean field theory. Uniform rotation is introduced following the Hartle's formalism. We show that the use of realistic parameters of rotating neutron stars obtained from numerical integration of the self-consistent axisymmetric general relativistic equations of equilibrium leads to values of the magnetic field and radiation efficiency of pulsars very different from estimates based on fiducial parameters assuming a neutron star mass, M = 1.4 Msun, radius R = 10 km, and moment of inertia, I = 10^45 g cm^2. In addition, we compare and contrast the magnetic field inferred from the traditional Newtonian rotating magnetic dipole model with respect to the one obtained from its general relativistic analog which takes into due account the effect of the finite size of the source. We apply these considerations to the specific high-magnetic field pulsars class and show that, indeed, all these sources can be described as canonical pulsars driven by the rotational energy of the neutron star, and with magnetic fields lower than the quantum critical field for any value of the neutron star mass.
