Abstract: preliminary results of a study with pre - post evaluation with three comparison groups are shown. this study has the purpose of testing three types of strategies for training in text production, which are morphologically, hierarchically and functionally different. this in order to promote three different types of functional relations: intrasituational, extrasituational and transituational. the intervention program was implemented as a summer workshop directed to 14 children of sixth grade in a semi urban area in the state of morelos, mexico, having low levels of performance in text production activities. the text production skills were assessed with four sets of two activities each one: writing regulations, writing stories, develop descriptive paragraphs and writing messages with use of synonymous. to compare the performance assessments before and after, and between groups, were descriptive analysis of group averages, using a valuation range between 0 and 4 for each activity. also tested a structural regression model including as predictor variable to the experimental situation (group) and as variables to predict, the four skills evaluated. the results showed that the children of the transituacional group remarkably improved their competitions in text production from pre and post evaluations, furthermore, the structural regression model showed that in the post test, the experimental condition had a significant effect on the differential performance in three of the four skills assessed.

Ustilago maydis is the causal agent of the disease known as corn smut or Huitlacohe; their natural hosts are maize (Zea mays L.) and its putative ancestor teocintle (Zea mays ssp. parviglumis and ssp. mexicana). In México there is an evidence of its use as human food since pre-hispanic times. Huitlacoche is a typical Mexican food with interesting nutritional properties and distinctive flavor. Its use in cuisine is considered as a culinary delicacy in Mexico and several parts of the world and the current consumption is increasing markedly, mainly due to its exclusive flavor different from any other known food. Huitlacoche contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and vitamins that contribute to its nutritional value, also it has been reported that it contains proteins with balanced levels of essential amino acids, something which does not occur in corn having a deficiency mostly in lysine. The fungus also contains compounds with antioxidant properties, consequently it can be included in what are now known as nutraceutical foods. Besides its use in the food, this fungus has been used in different kinds of basic investigation, such as DNA recombination, signaling, cell biology, biotrophic plant-pathogen interactions and others. Its characteristics of dimorphism, and the detailed knowledge we have on its pathogenic development, that we describe in detail, make it an ideal subject for the analysis of fungal differentiation, and for the knowledge of the behavior of the highly aggressive plant pathogens that are members of its taxonomic group, the Ustilaginales. In the present communication we make a thorough review of the nutritional characteristics of U. maydis, its life cycle, and the molecular bases of its differentiation, morpohogenesis

Abstract: Background: Toxoplasma gondii is the causal agent of toxoplasmosis in which one third of the world’s population has been infected. In pregnant women, it may cause abortion and severe damage to the fetal central nervous system. During pregnancy, the prevalence of toxoplasmosis increases throughout the second and third quarter of gestation, simultaneously progesterone and 17β-estradiol also increase. Thus, it has been suggested that these hormones can aggravate or reduce parasite reproduction. The aim of this study was reviewing the relationship between hormones and infection caused by T. gondii in several experimental animal models and humans, focused mainly on: a) congenital transmission, b) parasite reproduction, c) strain virulence, d) levels of hormone in host induced by T. gondii infection and e) participation of hormone receptors in Toxoplasma gondii infection. Are the hormones specific modulators of T. gondii infection? A systematic review methodology was used to consult several databases (Pub Med, Lilacs, Medline, Science direct, Scielo, Ebsco, Sprinker, Wiley and Google Scholar) dated from September, 2013 to March, 2014. Results: 30 studies were included; eight studies in humans and 22 in animals and cell cultures. In the human studies, the most studied hormones were testosterone, progesterone, prolactin and 17-? estradiol. Type I (RH and BK) and Type II (Prugniaud, SC, ME49,T45, P78 and T38) were the most frequent experimental strains. Conclusions: Thirty-five years have passed since the first studies regarding Toxoplasma gondii infection and its relationship with hormones. This systematic review suggests that hormones modulate Toxoplasma gondii infection in different animal models. However, given that data were not comparable, further studies are required to determine the mechanism of hormone action in the Toxoplasma gondii infectious process.

Palabra Clave , 2012,
