Abstract: In this study, age determination was done by using the skeletochronology method on Ak ehir, Konya (Turkey), 14 (5♂♂; 9♀♀) Parvilacerta parva specimens. Cross-sections of femurs were examined in total 14 individuals, the lowest number of LAGs was seen in one female and one male individuals as 4, the highest number of LAGs were seen in two female individuals as 8. Average SVL was found 50.8 mm (SD=2.27) in male individuals, and 53.1 mm (SD = 3.27) in females. For all the samples, the age-length equation was calculated as SVL (mm) = 37.82 + (2.47 * age). As a result of Pearson correlation analysis, a significant positive correlation (r=0.93, P 0.01) between age and SVL. Pileus length does not increase constantly with age (r=0.007, P=0.98), while pileus width increases normally together with age (r=0.212, P=0.46).

Abstract: It is a well known reality that strong brands hold strong personalities. Therefore, building up a brand personality became an issue of increasing importance in branding efforts - especially in today's digital age. This paper investigates the perception of brand personality through personality archetypes, which is related to Jung’s collective unconscious and archetype theory. For this purpose, an online research was conducted with one hundred college students. To begin with, the students were informed about the meaning of the twelve personality archetypes at the online research site. After this introduction, various print advertisements were presented and the students were asked to indicate which archetypes they perceive in each print. The results show that different product categories are reflected and represented by the different archetypes. It is also noted that men and women have different archetype perceptions for some of the prints.

Computer Science , 2013,
Abstract: Suuplier selection is one of the most important functions of a purchasing department. Since by deciding the best supplier, companies can save material costs and increase competitive advantage.However this decision becomes compilcated in case of multiple suppliers, multiple conflicting criteria, and imprecise parameters. In addition the uncertainty and vagueness of the experts' opinion is the prominent characteristic of the problem. therefore an extensively used multi criteria decision making tool Fuzzy AHP can be utilized as an approach for supplier selection problem. This paper reveals the application of Fuzzy AHP in a gear motor company determining the best supplier with respect to selected criteria. the contribution of this study is not only the application of the Fuzzy AHP methodology for supplier selection problem, but also releasing a comprehensive literature review of multi criteria decision making problems. In addition by stating the steps of Fuzzy AHP clearly and numerically, this study can be a guide of the methodology to be implemented to other multiple criteria decision making problems.

The westernization movements (Imperial Edict of 1839) within the Ottoman Empire effected the establishment of the first commercial law, Kanunname-i Ticaret (1850-1926). Since 1926, three other commercial laws were enacted. In this study, we examine the commercial books within those four commercial laws under the scope of accounting. Our aim is to understand the effects of the commercial regulatory changes on the evolution of the Turkish accounting culture. Findings indicate that due to the Islamic law (Sharia), the application the commercial law of 1850 was not widespread. The legal regulations which were put into force with the establishment of the Republic in 1923 have made the enactment of new commercial laws possible. Thus, the study also addresses to the bill of Turkish Commercial Law dated 2005.
Continuing medical education in Turkey: Recent developments

BMC Medical Education , 2002, DOI: 10.1186/1472-6920-2-6
Abstract: Since the year 1994, 2348 applications to the Continuing Medical Education board have been made (mostly for scientific meetings), and 95% of these applications have been accepted. Physicians received 139.014 credits during this time. This number is increasing every year. Meeting organisers' demand for such a kind of evaluation is increasing, because participants increasingly request it.Efforts for revalidation and re-certification of physicians have not been completely successful yet. In the near future the Co-ordination Council of Medical Speciality Societies is going to oblige member associations to establish speciality boards. This will be the first step to the conventional use of Continuing Medical Education credits in occupational evaluation. Time-limited re-certification of physicians is the principal goal of Turkish Medical Association. Efforts to implement this change in legislation are being made.The Turkish Medical Association (TMA) has worked for many years on the idea of developing strategies that would contribute to raising professional standards for all Turkish medical doctors. Continuing medical education (CME) is essential in a country with an unequal geographic distribution of wealth and health resources, in which most of the doctors work in cities located in Western Turkey. Although medical education programs in Turkey are innovative and internationally acknowledged [1], it is very clear that basic and clinical medical sciences will expand exponentially and the technology and practice of medicine will change greatly with time. Therefore the body of knowlede in all medical scientific fields will accumulate, so that it will be impossible for any medical doctor to be aware of all of the new technology and knowledge in his field [2].Another outstanding problem is that the doctor himself cannot appreciate his/her needs sufficiently to maintain a base of current medical knowledge. Therefore all doctors should be encouraged to improve their medical knowle
Variation in quantitative vessel element features of Juglans regia wood in the western black sea region of Turkey
Yaman, Barbaros;
Agrociencia , 2008,
Abstract: variations in quantitative vessel element characters of juglans regia l. wood were studied in relation to altitude and growth-ring width. multiple regression analysis using altitude and growth-ring width as independent variables were performed. significant correlations were obtained for tangential vessel and radial vessel diameter (p< 0.001), vulnerability ratio and xeromorphy ratio (p<0.01), and for the number of vessels per group (p<0.05). vessel frequency is not correlated with independent variables. non-anatomical factors (altitude and growth-ring width) explain 40.4-80.4% of variation for dependent variables.

International Journal of Human Sciences , 2009,
Abstract: Teachers have a major role in the process of education. The fulfillment of the tasks and responsibilities put on the shoulders of the teacher depends on the satisfaction the teacher gets from his or her profession.Determining the factors which are influential on the teachers’ job satisfaction, such as the profession and its characteristics, working conditions, social relationships, economic conditions, administration and inspection and social requirements, thus finding out the factors causing job dissatisfaction and helping teachers in working more efficiently and attaining job satisfaction are vitally important in terms of properly raising the future generations as well. The aim of the present study is to find out the job satisfaction levels of Formative Physical Education Teachers.The universe of the research comprised the Formative Physical Education Teachers participating in the in-service training courses of the Turkish National Education Ministry which participants from 81 provinces of Turkey took part in. The courses were taught in the provinces of anakkale and Mersin. One hundred and ninety seven Formative Physical Education Teachers, 47 of which female and 150 male, participated in the study. Since the entire universe was able to be reached, no sampling was determined.A 52-question survey was applied in order to determine the demographical characteristics and professional status information of the teachers. The data obtained was evaluated by means of SPSS 11.5 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) statistical package program, and t-test was used for the variables of “gender” and “the status of having taken in-service training”, while ANOVA was used for the other variables. Based on the findings, the factors affecting the job satisfaction were determined and the suggestions were offered.
