Clustering comparison of point processes with applications to random geometric models

Abstract: In this chapter we review some examples, methods, and recent results involving comparison of clustering properties of point processes. Our approach is founded on some basic observations allowing us to consider void probabilities and moment measures as two complementary tools for capturing clustering phenomena in point processes. As might be expected, smaller values of these characteristics indicate less clustering. Also, various global and local functionals of random geometric models driven by point processes admit more or less explicit bounds involving void probabilities and moment measures, thus aiding the study of impact of clustering of the underlying point process. When stronger tools are needed, directional convex ordering of point processes happens to be an appropriate choice, as well as the notion of (positive or negative) association, when comparison to the Poisson point process is considered. We explain the relations between these tools and provide examples of point processes admitting them. Furthermore, we sketch some recent results obtained using the aforementioned comparison tools, regarding percolation and coverage properties of the Boolean model, the SINR model, subgraph counts in random geometric graphs, and more generally, U-statistics of point processes. We also mention some results on Betti numbers for \v{C}ech and Vietoris-Rips random complexes generated by stationary point processes. A general observation is that many of the results derived previously for the Poisson point process generalise to some "sub-Poisson" processes, defined as those clustering less than the Poisson process in the sense of void probabilities and moment measures, negative association or dcx-ordering.

Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the method of establishing equity shares in weight average cost of capital (WACC), in which the value of loan capital results from the fixed assumptions accepted in the financial plan (for example a schedule of loan repayment) and own equity is evaluated by means of a discount method. The described method causes that, regardless of whether cash flows are calculated as FCFF or FCFE, the result of the company valuation will be identical.

Wyniki: Stwierdzono, e u pacjentów z rozpoznan grzybic jamy ustnej kandydoza b ony luzowej prze yku wyst puje cz ciej ni u pacjentów bez rozpoznanej grzybicy jamy ustnej, a ró nice s wyra nie znamienne statystycznie przyp=0,0003 (p<0,001). Wnioski: Grzybica jamy ustnej u ytkowników protez ca kowitych jest cz sto chorob wspó istniej c z grzybic b ony luzowej prze yku. W zwi zku z tym leczenie przeciwgrzybicze infekcji jamy ustnej powinno by skoordynowane z równoczesnym badaniem diagnostycznym i leczeniem grzybicy dalszych odcinków przewodu pokarmowego w konsultacji z gastrologiem.
A remark on generalized commutation relation and subnormality

Abstract: Tillmann [11] proved that every operator A which fulfils the canonical commutation relation $A*A - AA* = Id$ is an orthogonal sum of canonical creation operators. We extend this result for operators which fulfil generalized commutation relation $A*A - AA* = E^2$, where $EA = AE$. In addition, some inequalities which are helpful in describing analytic vectors of operators $A*A$, where $A$ fulfils the generalized commutation relation, are estabished.

Abstract: The article presents the evolution of the leadership concept and the importance of leadership competencies in an organization. On the basis of leadership competencies’ model and empirical data, the essence of leadership is shown as the bilateral relationship between leader and employees, in which leaders should be coherent individuals with distinctive features, such as: interpersonal skills, especially teamworking, and personal competencies deriving from work on oneself. Moreover, theability of developing strategies, continually building up the authority of leaders as well as an appropriate system to support employees’ competencies development give the direction for organizational development.
The granular computing implementation for road traffic video-detector sampling rate finding

Abstract: The method discussed in this contribution allows to estimate the necessary data granularity for an on-line traffic controlling, using the information recorded by digital video-camera. Due to define the data sampling rate modelling and analysis methods were applied. They are used for extracting prediction rules of the traffic descriptors. The discussed scheme combines granular computing algorithms with assumptions of a cellular automata traffic model. It enables direct determination of temporal characteristics for the recognised and extracted traffic states. The traffic parameters prediction algorithm was introduced that allow determining the sampling time intervals of the video detection system.
Fuzzy cellular model for traffic data fusion

Abstract: In this paper the requirements for road traffic models designed to collect complex data from vehicles detectors in a traffic control system are discussed. A cellular model is proposed that uses the theory of fuzzy sets to deal with these requirements and to enable traffic data fusion from various sources. In the introduced approach all parameters of vehicles are described by means of fuzzy numbers. Vehicles are modelled individually, thus various classes of them can be taken into consideration. The model was implemented in a simulation of traffic flow at a crossroad approach. A discharge time of vehicles queue was analysed in this experiment and compared to the results of Nagel-Schreckenberg model.
Identification of selected Leuconostoc species with the use of FTIR spectroscopy and artificial neural networks

Abstract: Background. FTIR spectroscopy is becoming an important tool in the differentiation and identification of bacteria. In the present study, lactic acid bacteria of the genus Leuconostoc were differentiated and identified with the use of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and artificial neural networks (ANNs). The aim of the study was to expand the existing library of FTIR spectra of lactic acid and propionic acid bacteria, and to develop multilayer artificial neural networks as part of the same structure. Material and methods. The material for this study were 10 reference strains of the genus Leuconostoc, and 24 strains isolated from food products. The isolated pure cultures were identified with species specific pairs of primers by PCR technique, as a reference method. Bacterial strain samples were subjected to spectroscopic measurements by the transmission method at a wavelength of 4000 cm-1 to 500 cm-1 using a FTIR spectrophotometer. Digitized spectral data were submitted to neural networks training, until an error of less than 0.05 was obtained and than used for identification of isolates. Results. The utility of neural networks has been determined based on the identification of 10 reference strains and 24 bacterial strains of the genus Leuconostoc isolated from food products. The isolated strains have been identified by PCR-based method using species-specific primers. The use of artificial neural networks in FTIR spectral analyses as the most advanced chemometric method supported the correct identification of 83-92% bacteria of the genus Leuconostoc at the species level. Conclusions. The discussed method may be deployed in analytical laboratories for identifying lactic acid bacteria at the genus, species and subspecies level, for monitoring the purity of cultures in strain collections and for fast screening of selected bacterial groups. FTIR delivers a variety of advantages, including simple technology, low cost, high specificity and a wide range of industrial applications.

Abstract: In this paper the numerical model of combustion chamber of BP 1150 boilers of Opole Power Palnt with additional set of nozzles of protection air system was created. The calculation was done by commercial CFD code Fluent. Three case of air distribution to OFA and SOFA nozzles was modelled. The quota of air was increased to OFA and SOFA nozzles by taking secondary air from burners to decrease NOx emission. The distrubution of primary and secondary air was done so as to the quota of air from protection air system was at stable level equal 10% of secondary air. Numerical simulation of furnace of BP 1150 boilers confirmed that stagered air decreasing NOx emission and showed NOx concentration on varoius level of combustion chumber.
