A Survey of Literature on Indigenous Burial Practices and their Archeological Implications
Grace Barretto
Kasarinlan : Philippine Journal of Third World Studies , 2000,
Abstract: Indigenous peoples in the Philippines vary with regards to preparing the body, grave goods, manner and location of burial and post-burial practices. Death beliefs and practices reflect the disposition of their cultures. This survey of written records on indigenous burial practices in the Philippines was divided into four periods -- Spanish, American, post-World War II and contemporary periods. Many of these practices may no longer be examined archeologically due to the disintegration of the material. But the survey allows us to make archeological correlates -- a number of which have been substantiated by excavation sites allover the Philippines, in order to complete or correct an unfinished or misinterpreted record of our history.

Entre los derechos políticos y el consumo: una visión heterodoxa del concepto de ciudadanía
Barretto, Margarita
PASOS : Revista de Turismo y Patrimonio Cultural , 2004,
Abstract: Some people don't think that political rights (to vote and to be voted), or basic social rights (free education and health care) are essential to citizenship. Instead, they look forward the possibility of consumption of goods, even if that means less education and health services or the possibility of voting. This article was inspired by a little group of uruguaian migrants in Brazil which can be considered as emblematic of this type of consumption oriented citizenship

?Interlocutores y diálogo social o sindicatos y negociación? (una pregunta y otras cuestiones sobre ética, derechos, y mundo del trabajo)
Barretto Ghione,Hugo;
Gaceta Laboral , 2005,
Abstract: the use of language in the labor field tells us a lot about the reality of social undercurrents, the level of debate, and obviously, the perspective from which labor studies are approached. in this sense, the recent use of terms such as ?social dialogue? instead of the traditional ?negotiations? and ?employee and labor organizations? raises the question as to if there has been a change in the sense and content of discourse in this area. based on this possibility, a counterpoint between the communicative thesis that theoretically underlies social dialogue and the stongly criticized thesis of procedural focuses is developed. beyond this theoretical debate as to the adequacy or not of habermas′ proposals as to the strong conflictive reality protagonized by asymmetric power actors, it is affirmed that the central issue in the labor question is finding a group of fundamental rights that protect a person who works. finally, recent experiences in countries such as argentina and brazil indicate that conflict, negociation and the traditional actors in labor relations continue to be the true axis or reality of the labor world.
