A Markov Based Performance Analysis of Handover and Load Balancing in HetNets  [PDF]

Abstract: LTE heterogeneous networks (HetNets) is becoming a popular topic since it was first developed in 3GPP Release 10. HetNets has the advantage to assemble various cell networks and enhance users’ Quality of Service (QoS) within the system. However, its development is still constrained by two main issues: 1) Load imbalance caused by different transmission powers for various tiers, and 2) The unbalanced transmission power may also increase unnecessary handover rate. In order to solve the first issue, Cell range expansion (CRE) can be applied in the system, which will benefit lower-tier cell during user association phase; CRE, Hysteresis Margin (HM) and Time-to-Trigger (TTT) will be utilized to bound UE within lower tier network of HetNets and therefore solve the second issue. On the other hand, the relationship of these parameters may be complicated and even reduce QoS if they are chosen incorrectly. This paper will evaluate the advantage and disadvantage of all three parameters and propose a Markov Chain Process (MCP) based method to find optimal HM, CRE and TTT values. And then, the simulation is taken and the optimal combination for our scenario is obtained to be 1 dB, 6 dB and 60 ms respectively. First contribution of this paper is to map the HetNets handover process into MCP and all the phases of handover can be calculated and analysed in probability way, so that further prediction and simulation can be realised. Second contribution is to establish a mathematical method to model the relationship of HM, CRE and TTT in HetNets, therefore the coordination of these three important parameters is achieved to obtain system optimization.

Abstract:

Realizing digital signal demodulation on the general computer is an important research direction in the field of signal processing in recent years. In this paper, the algorithm of BPSK signal demodulation which has high real-time requirements is researched on the general computer. According to the characteristics of “CPU + GPU” heterogeneous computing, the parallel computation model of digital communication is put forward, and BPSK signal demodulation is realized on CUDA platform. Test results show that the computing time ratio of 1:1.7, when ?the bit error rate can be achieved 10?5.

A Feasibility Study of Error Analysis on the Teaching of Chinese-English Translation—A Case Study of Non-English Major Freshmen in BUPT

Abstract: Error Analysis is one of the most common methods in statistics. According to Corder S. P (1967) error is significant to learners. This paper applies it to the teaching of Chinese-English translation. Taking a whole class as a research unit and by analyzing the common errors made by students in their homework, the researcher records the error types, numbers of each type of error as well as the corresponding frequencies separately. Then the researcher lists out the top six errors and calculates the total frequency of them (total percentage of the six errors occupied in the class). After the analysis, the teacher feedbacks the results to the students as well as explains the methods of error identification and correction. This paper compares two non-English major classes with 60 freshmen; one has adopted “Error Analysis” in the teaching of Chinese-English Translation, while the other has not. Finally after one semester, the class which has applied “Error Analysis” makes greater progress than the class not. From some aspects, the research does show that “Error Analysis Teaching Method” could promote the Chinese-English translating skills of non-English major freshmen. Though this research has its limitations, it is valuable in improving the traditional translation teaching strategies.
Transient Hydraulic Performance and Numerical Simulation of a Centrifugal Pump with an Open Impeller during Shutting Down  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, the transient behavior of a low specific speed centrifugal pump with straight blades during shutting down is studied through the experimental test, theoretical calculation, and numerical simulation. The variations of the rota- tional speed, flow rate, and head with time are obtained in experiment. Based on the experimental results of the rota- tional speed and flow rate, the additional theoretical heads are quantitatively calculated and analyzed. The experimental results of the rotational speed and flow rate are worked as the boundary conditions to accurately accomplish the nu- merical simulation of the transient flow during shutting down. The experimental results show that the decrease history of the flow rate evidently lags behind that of the rotational speed, while the rotational speed slightly lags behind the head. Theoretical analysis shows that there exists a clear negative head impact phenomenon in the process of stopping. The transient behavior of the centrifugal pump with straight blades mainly comes from the rotation deceleration of im- peller, and has nothing to do with the fluid deceleration. The numerical simulations show that a large area backflow can be seen when the rotational speed decreases to zero due to the flowing inertia. In conclusion, the numerical simulation of the flow field is in good agreement with the internal flow theory of centrifugal pumps.
Influence of Additional Device on Performance of the Marine Current Turbine  [PDF]

Abstract: To investigate the influence of additional device on the flow in marine current turbine, two additional devices for ma- rine current turbine including short diffuser and long diffuser types are studied based on the test data of original marine current turbine. The results of numerical simulation show that the additional device with flange structure, compared to marine current turbine without additional device, can obtain more output power. However, it brings the inhomogeneity of additional device force as the increasing of effective output power. At same time, due to existence of the flange, two karman vortices are found behind the flange. The low pressure region produced by additional device and flange struc- ture can speed up the flow around the marine current turbine, so as to improve the output power.

Polydimethylsiloxane and Castor Oil Comodified Waterborne Polyurethane

Abstract: In view of both improving properties of waterborne polyurethane (WPU) and sufficient utilization of renewable resources, a series of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and castor oil (C.O.) comodified anionic WPUs with internal cross-linking was prepared through a prepolymer mixing process. The chemical structure of synthesized polymers was characterized by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). In comparison with traditional linear WPU synthesized from petroleum-based polyols, these novel WPU films exhibited superior properties in solvent and water resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical strength, which suggest promising applications of these new environmentally friendly materials, particularly in the area of decorative and protective coatings. In addition, the results showed that with the increase in PDMS content in these co-modified WPUs the average particle size, the water resistance, and the thermal stability increased accordingly while the solvent resistance and the mechanical properties decreased. 1. Introduction Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) dispersions, one of the most rapidly developing and active branches of PU chemistry and technology, have gained great attention in many commercial fields due to their superior properties and environmental advantages relative to conventional solvent-borne polyurethanes [1, 2]. However, some properties of WPU still need to be improved further, such as water and solvent resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical properties. The improvements of these properties have been achieved by copolymerizing or grafting of other polymers, external and internal cross-linking, blending or interpenetrating, polymer network formations, and modifying with nanoparticles [3–7]. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has many applications due to its unique properties, which arise mainly from its natural structure composed of inorganic Si–O bond and organic graft methyl group. These interesting properties include low surface energy, biocompatibility, high thermal and oxidative stability, good water resistance, chemical inactivity, insulating stability, low glass transition temperature, and great molecular flexibility [8]. Combining the advantages of PDMS with those of WPU has attracted the attention of many researchers for a long time and PDMS has been introduced to WPU through both blending and copolymerization methods [8–16]. Association Analysis of IL-17A and IL-17F Polymorphisms in Chinese Han Women with Breast Cancer

Abstract: Background Research into the etiology of breast cancer has recently focused on the role of the immunity and inflammation. The proinflammatory cytokines IL-17A and IL-17F can mediate inflammation and cancer. To evaluate the influences of IL-17A and IL-17F gene polymorphisms on the risk of sporadic breast cancer, a case-control study was conducted in Chinese Han women. Methodology and Principal Findings We genotyped three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IL-17A (rs2275913, rs3819025 and rs3748067) and five SNPs in IL-17F (rs7771511, rs9382084, rs12203582, rs1266828 and rs763780) to determine the haplotypes in 491 women with breast cancer and 502 healthy individuals. The genotypes were determined using the SNaPshot technique. The differences in the genotypic distribution between breast cancer patients and healthy controls were analyzed with the Chi-square test for trends. For rs2275913 in IL-17A, the frequency of the AA genotype was higher in patients than controls (P = 0.0016). The clinical features analysis demonstrated significant associations between IL-17 SNPs and tumor protein 53 (P53), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her-2) and triple-negative (ER-/PR-/Her-2-) status. In addition, the haplotype analysis indicated that the frequency of the haplotype Ars2275913Grs3819025Grs3748067, located in the IL-17A linkage disequilibrium (LD) block, was higher in patients than in controls (P = 0.0471 after correction for multiple testing). Conclusions and Significance Our results suggested that SNPs in IL-17A but not IL-17F were associated with the risk of breast cancer. Both IL-17A and IL-17F gene polymorphisms may provide valuable information for predicting the prognosis of breast cancer in Chinese women.

Abstract: The leaf essential oil of Cinnamomum septentrionale collected from an artificial planting population in Chengdu city, Sichuan province were analyzed by capillary GC/MS.The results showed that their main chemical constituents were quite different among some trees, and could be divided into four chemotypes, namely 1, 8-cineole, camphor, methyl isoeugenol and 9-oxonerolidol.Except the type of methyl isoeugenol, the other three were first reported. According to the researched results of chemotypes in genus Cinnamomum, multi chemotypes within one species and general characters of chemotypes in different species are universally existed.
