Abstract: In this paper genetic algorithm (GA) has been appliedfor for the design of the structure specified optimal robustcontrollers. The controller structure is pre-specified and thecontroller design problem is posed as constrained nonlinearoptimization problem. The parameters of the chosen controller areobtained solving the nonlinear constrained optimization problem.The performance indices which have been used in the design areintegral absolute error (IAE), integral square error (ISE), integraltime absolute error (ITAE) and integral time square error (ITSE).The constraints are frequency domain performances related withrobust stability and disturbance rejection.
Large Signal and Small Signal Stability of Single Machine Infinite System using Dynamic Brake and Static Shunt Compensator

Abstract: In this paper thyristor controlled dynamic brake and static shunt compensator controllers are employed to enhance the transient and small signal stability investigation stability of power system represented through Single Machine connected to Infinite Bus (SMIB). The Phillips-Heffron representation of SMIB system is also modified for reactive power inclusion. The controllers Power System Stabilizer (PSS), Static Shunt Compensator (SSC), Thyristor Controlled Dynamic Brake (TCDB) are tuned for the minimization of performance index. The results obtained here indicate explicitly that the coordinated operation of proposed controllers is effective in improving transient as well as small signal stability of the system.
Grid Stability of Interconnected System with Fuzzy-logic controller & HVDC in Deregulated Environment

Abstract: This paper investigates the effects of integral controller, fuzzy controller,HVDC on an interconnected two area power system in a deregulated environment. The system is simulated using Matlab-Simulink along with controllers. The frequency deviation responses are studied using Matlab-simulink. Robustness of the controller is thus checked and we get a new proposed system with better results i.e. lesser deviation for reliable and quality power supply.

Abstract: This paper presents the design of variable structure control (VSC) based Power System Stabilizer (PSS) for Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system. Optimal VSC based PSS has been tuned to minimize the low frequency oscillations in torque angle deviation using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The robustness and effectiveness of the designed controller is verified by the change in the operating points. The results of the simulation show that the proposed controller has significantly improved the power system stability.

Abstract: The low frequency oscillations (LFOs) are related tothe small signal stability of a power system and are detrimental tothe goals of maximum power transfer and power system security.As power systems began to be operated closer to their stabilitylimits, the weakness of a synchronizing torque among thegenerators was recognized as a major cause of system instabilityinstead of damping torque. Automatic voltage regulators (AVRs)can improve the steady-state stability of the power systems. Theaddition of a supplementary controller into the control loop, suchas power system stabilizers (PSSs) to the AVRs on the generators,provides the means to reduce the inhibiting effects of lowfrequency oscillations. The power system stabilizers work well atthe particular network configuration and steady state conditionsfor which they were designed. Once conditions change theperformance degrades To overcome the drawbacks of powersystem stabilizer (PSS), numerous techniques are available in theliterature. In the present work, the effectiveness of conventionalPSS and PID-PSS has been compared.
Image Compression Using Color Correlation & Image Decomposition

Abstract: Digital images contain large amount of information that need evolving effective techniques for storing and transmitting the ever increasing volumes of data. Image compression addresses the problem by reducing the amount of data required to represent a digital image. The uncompressed image data requires a large storage capacity and transmission bandwidth. The purpose of the image compression algorithm is to reduce the amount of data required to represents the image with less degradation in the visual quality and without any information loss. In a monochrome image, the neighboring pixels are more correlated. The discrete cosine transform (DCT) and wavelet transform are commonly used to reduce the redundancy between the pixels and for energy compaction. The JPEG standard uses the DCT and the JPEG2000 standard uses the wavelet Inter Color Correlation Based Enhanced Color In a color image, correlation exists between the neighboring pixels of each color channel and as well as between the color channels But pixels beyond the neighbor matrix will not match so we will introduce a new method that is based on the image byte streaming and color correlation
Microcontroller Based Testing of Digital IP-Core

Abstract: Testing core based System on Chip [1] is a challenge for the test engineers. To test the complete SOC at one time with maximum fault coverage, test engineers prefer to test each IP-core separately. At speed testing using external testers is more expensive because of gigahertz processor. The purpose of this paper is to develop cost efficient and flexible test methodology for testing digital IP-cores [2]. The prominent feature of the approach is to use microcontroller to test IP-core. The novel feature is that there is no need of test pattern generator and output response analyzer as microcontroller performs the function of both. This approach has various advantages such as at speed testing, low cost, less area overhead and greater flexibility since most of the testing process is based on software.

Abstract: In today VLSI system design, power consumption is gaining more attention as compared to performance and area. This is due to battery life in portable devices and operating frequency of the design. Power consumption mainly consists of static power, dynamic power, leakage power and short circuit power. Dynamic power is dominant among all which depends on many factors viz. power supply, load capacitance and frequency. Switching activity also affects dynamic power consumption of bus which is determined by calculating the number of bit transitions on bus. The purpose of this paper is to design a bit transition counter which can be used to calculate the switching activity of the circuit nodes. The novel feature is that it can be inserted at any node of the circuit, thus helpful for calculating power consumption of bus.
