Abstract: This paper deals with the characterization of aerosols in the Sahelian zone, particularly in Burkina Faso based on MODIS observations and in situ measurements of the AERONET network on the Ouagadougou site (12.2°N, 1.4°W). Thus, a seasonal spatial distribution of aerosols made over the period from 2001 to 2016 gives a very great variability of aerosols in Burkina Faso, whose maxima are encountered in Spring, characterized by winds from the North East. This seasonality of aerosols is also shown by the annual cycles of optical, radiative and microphysical parameters measured by AERONET between 1999 and 2006. Moreover, an analysis of these parameters shows the prevalence of mineral dusts characterized by low values of the Angstrom coefficient (α440-870 < 0.5) associated with the maxima of AOT with high intensity in March. These dusts are confirmed by their scattering nature (SSA > 0.9) and the cooling noticed in the bottom of atmosphere (BOA) and at the top of the atmosphere (TOA). Also, the climatology of the volume size distribution of aerosols shows a very great variability of particles in terms of size influenced by the thin and coarse pattern where most sizes are between 1 and 10 μm.
Efficiency tests for estimating the gas and stellar population parameters in Type 2 objects

Physics , 2014, DOI: 10.1016/j.asr.2014.06.040
Abstract: We investigated the efficiency of estimating characteristics of stellar populations (SP) and Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) emission using ULySS code. To analyse simultaneously AGN and SP components in the integrated spectrum of Type 2 active galaxies, we modelled the featureless continuum (FC) and emission lines, and we used PEGASE.HR stellar population models provided by ULySS. In order to validate the method, we simulated over 7000 integrated spectra of Seyfert 2 galaxies. Spectra were generated using different characteristics of the featureless AGN continuum, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), spectral ranges, properties of emission lines and single stellar population (SSP) model whose initial mass function (IMF) and abundance pattern is similar to the solar neighbourhood. Simulated spectra were fitted with ULySS to evaluate the ability of the method to extract SP and AGN properties. We found that the analysis with ULySS can efficiently restore the characteristics of SP in spectra of Seyfert 2 AGNs, where signal-to-noise ratio is higher than 20, and where SP contributes with more than 10% to the total flux. Degeneracies between AGN and SP parameters increase with increasing the AGN continuum fraction, which points out the importance of simultaneous fitting of the FC and SP contributions.

Abstract: the phenomenon of immigration in our country has experienced an important quantitative change with the number of registered immigrants having trebled in the last three years. the fact that certain immigrant communities have been involved in terrorist attacks and organizations points to the idea of a possible deterioration of the attitudes of spanish people toward immigrants. the aim of this study was to compare by means of a transversal descriptive study, the results obtained in the attitude towards immigration scale answered by an accidental sample of 204 nursing students in february 2003 and april 2004. the findings suggest that the attitude toward immigration of those nursing students was significantly higher in the academic year 2003-2004 than in the previous year (p<0,05), which can be accounted for by the efficiency of the educational emphasis on the equity principle for all students, regardless of ethnic and cultural variables.

Abstract: the aim of this work was to verify whether a pedagogic intervention based on the use of active methodology, including both cooperative work and stimulus of discussion, was capable of modifying the students' attitude regarding hiv/aids. to this end, 80 nursing students were divided in two groups. the first (39 students) was the intervention group where the pedagogic experiment was performed. the second group (41 subjects) was used as a control. all students answered the aids attitude scale for nursing (ease) protocol at the beginning and end of the pedagogic trial. an analysis of the results demonstrates that a statistically significant positive change in the students' attitude is registered in the intervention group after having finished the training period, compared to the results obtained at the beginning of the trial. in contrast, no significant differences were observed between the results determined in the two tests for students in the control group. these findings confirm the effectiveness of the pedagogic methodology used to effect a positive change in student attitudes regarding topics such as aids; an area that is often subject to a social and cultural bias that can affect the quality of an individual's future work as a health-care professional.

Abstract: Aims: We aimed at identifying the high-risk HPV genotypes associated with high-grade dysplastic cervical lesions in Burkina Faso. The available vaccines to Burkina Faso only protect against two high risk HPV genotypes: HPV 16 and 18. Are the genotypes identified in the high-grade precan-cerous lesions in this survey covered by the available vaccines? Methods: The detection and genotyping of high-risk HPV have been conducted based on 118 formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded archived tissues using the “HPV Genotypes 14 Real-TM Quant” (Sacace biotechnologies®, Italy) kit allowing for the detection of fourteen high-risk HPV genotypes: HPV 16, 31, 18, 39, 45, 59, 33, 35, 56, 68, 51, 52, 58 and 66. Results: The prevalence of high-risk HPV infections was 48.8% based on the appropriate PCR results (21/43). The most common HPV genotypes were HPV 39 (21.7%), HPV 35 (13.0%) and HPV 45 (13.0%). Two cases of multiple infections between HPV 39 - 45 and HPV 39 - 59 have been observed. HPV 16 was not detected in this study. Conclusions: We noted a high prevalence rate for HPV 39, HPV 35 and HPV 45, which are not covered by the commercial vaccines. We also found that the prevalence of HPV 18 was very low in this study and HPV 16 was not detected.
