Inhibition of Longzhi extracts on tumor growth of transplanted H22 and S180 in mice

Abstract: Objective: To study the inhibitory effect of Longzhi extracts (extracts from a Chinese herbal compound) on the growth of transplanted hepatoma H22 and sarcoma S180 in mice. Methods: Certain dosage of Longzhi extracts was dissolved into distilled water to obtain the suspension of definite concentration. The suspension of 0.2 ml was planted on the right forefoot of each mouse. The mice were randomly divided into groups 24 hours later and treated for 7 days. One day after the treatment stopped, the mice were sacrificed and the tumor masses were taken out and weighed. Results: The inhibition rates of Longzhi extracts on the tumor of transplanted H22 and S180 were 63% and 41% respectively. Conclusion: Longzhi extracts has antitumor action.
Folding rate prediction using complex network analysis for proteins with two- and three-state folding kinetics  [PDF]

Abstract: It is a challenging task to investigate the different in- fluence of long-range and short-range interactions on two-state and three-state folding kinetics of protein. The networks of the 30 two-state proteins and 15 three-state proteins were constructed by complex networks analysis at three length scales: Protein Contact Networks, Long-range Interaction Networks and Short-range Interaction Networks. To uncover the relationship between structural properties and folding kinetics of the proteins, the correlations of protein network parameters with protein folding rate and topology parameters contact order were analyzed. The results show that Protein Contact Networks and Short-range Interaction Networks (for both two-state and three-state proteins) exhibit the “small-world” property and Long-range Interaction networks indicate “scale-free” behavior. Our results further indicate that all Protein Contact Networks and Short- range Interaction networks are assortative type. While some of Long-range Interaction Networks are of assortative type, the others are of disassortative type. For two-state proteins, the clustering coefficients of Short-range Interaction Networks show prominent correlation with folding rate and contact order. The assortativity coefficients of Short-range Interaction Networks also show remarkable correlation with folding rate and contact order. Similar correlations exist in Protein Contact Networks of three-state proteins. For two-state proteins, the correlation between contact order and folding rate is determined by the numbers of local contacts. Short- range interactions play a key role in determining the connecting trend among amino acids and they impact the folding rate of two-state proteins directly. For three-state proteins, the folding rate is determined by short-range and long-range interactions among residues together.

Abstract: 155 endophytic fungi were isolated from Equisetum arvense L., Impatiens chinensis L. and Myriophyllum verticillatum L. They were identified to 26 taxa. The antagonistic activities of these isolates against 6 isolates of plant pathogenic fungi were tested on the medium, and 37(23.9%) isolates were activitive against one or more phytopathogens. The percentage of antifungal active isolates from E. arvense L., I. chinensis L. and M. verticillatum L. were 13.9%, 29.2% and 37.1%, respectively. It was lower than that of terrestrial plants. The active isolates were mainly belonging to 5 genera including Cladosporium, Trichoderma and Geotrichum.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) of resistant sequence in Mx gene in chicken with a mismatched Polymerase Chain Reaction-restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method and thus, the differences of frequency on sequence A2032G in Mx gene in different breeds were detected. The results showed that three genotypes were found on A2032G in 15 breeds of chicken, which were AA, AG, GG and AA genotype was not found in Luyuan, Langshan chicken and Zhongyuan Game chicken, as GG genotype did in Chahua chicken and Red Jungle Fowl. The average frequency of resistance gene (A) and sensitive gene (G) was 0.350 and 0.650, respectively. However, the frequency of A alleles had a wide rangeability from 0.034-0.984 and the results of χ2-test indicated that Mx gene in all populations was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

Abstract: Seed macromorphology and seed-coat micromorphology of 11 species of Kadsura (Schisandraceae) represented by 36 samples were observed under light microscope (LM) and scan- ning electron microscope (SEM). The seeds are reniform, ellipsoid, cordiform or reniform-oblate in shape. Under SEM the surface pattern of the seeds shows some variation among the species and three types have been observed, i.e. (1) Nearly Smooth, (2) Areolate and (3) Reticulate. In the type 1, the seed surface is nearly smooth. This type was found to occur in two species, viz. K. borneensis and K. lanceolata. In the type 2, the seed surface is areolate with prominent lumina and sunken muri. This type was found to occur in K. coccinea and K. verrucosa. In the type 3, the seed surface is reticulate with sunken lumina and prominent muri. This type is the commonest in the genus, occurring in seven species, viz. K. heteroclita, K. induta, K. japonica, K. oblongifo- lia, K. angustifolia, K. scandens and K. marmorata. Seed-coat micromorphological features seem to be quite constant within species and thus are of significant value in the delimitation of some species. Evidence from seed-coat micromorphological features supports the treatment of reducing K. polysperma and K. interior to K. heteroclita and of reducing K. longipedunculata to K. japoni- ca. Brief speculation on the evolutionary trend of the seed-coat micromorphological features in thegenus Kadsura is discussed.

Abstract: 在铝酸钙炉渣最佳物料配比条件下,应用XRD和激光粒度分析等手段研究了温度和保温时间对铝酸钙炉渣体系物相组成、粒度和氧化铝浸出性能的影响.结果表明,当温度低于1450℃时,炉渣处于固相反应区,反应速度缓慢,并含有相当一部分的难浸物质2CaO-Al2O3-SiO2,降低了炉渣的自粉率和浸出性能.当温度在1450℃以上时,炉渣中出现液相,反应速度加快且进行比较完全;炉渣丰要物相为12CaO-7Al2O3和y-2CaO-SiO2,自粉和浸出性能良好.保温时间对炉渣物相和粒度影响不大,但略微降低了氧化铝浸出率.

Study on Earth Surface Potential and DC Current Distribution around DC Grounding Electrode  [PDF]

Abstract:

DC magnetic biasing problem,caused by the DC grounding electrode, threatened the safe operation of AC power grid. In this paper, the characteristics of the soil stratification near DC grounding electrode was researched. The AC-DC interconnected large-scale system model under the monopole operation mode was established. The earth surface potential and DC current distribution in various stations under the different surface thickness was calculated. Some useful conclusions are drawn from the analyzed results.
