Explicit determination of a 727-dimensional root space of the hyperbolic Lie algebra $E_{10}$

Abstract: The 727-dimensional root space associated with the level-2 root $\bLambda_1$ of the hyperbolic Kac--Moody algebra $E_{10}$ is determined using a recently developed string theoretic approach to hyperbolic algebras. The explicit form of the basis reveals a complicated structure with transversal as well as longitudinal string states present.

Abstract: In the Internet of Things (IoT) consumer products like coffee machines and smoke detectors are connected with the Internet, which effectively expands the Internet to the physical world. Such products have the ability to collect and share data from the user’s environment and, thus, their broad emergence will affect well-established concepts presented in the extant marketing literature. In order to provide a distinct contribution, we focus on customer relationship management, product life cycle management, as well as business model development and discuss implications of the enhanced capabilities of IoT products in these fields. By means of an extensive analysis of current developments in theory and practice, we systematically deduce ten research propositions. The paper concludes with a synthesis of findings and an outlook to promising directions for further research in IoT-oriented marketing management.
Entry Tropism of BK and Merkel Cell Polyomaviruses in Cell Culture

Abstract: Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCV or MCPyV) was recently discovered in an aggressive form of skin cancer known as Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC). Integration of MCV DNA into the host genome likely contributes to the development of MCC in humans. MCV infection is common and many healthy people shed MCV virions from the surface of their skin. MCV DNA has also been detected in samples from a variety of other tissues. Although MCC tumors serve as a record that MCV can infect the Merkel cell lineage, the true tissue tropism and natural reservoirs of MCV infection in the host are not known. In an effort to gain insight into the tissue tropism of MCV, and to possibly identify cellular factors responsible for mediating infectious entry of the virus, the infection potential of human cells derived from a variety of tissues was evaluated. MCV gene transfer vectors (pseudoviruses) carrying reporter plasmid DNA encoding GFP or luciferase genes were used to transduce keratinocytes and melanocytes, as well as lines derived from MCC tumors and the NCI-60 panel of human tumor cell lines. MCV transduction was compared to transduction with pseudoviruses based on the better-studied human BK polyomavirus (BKV). The efficiency of MCV and BKV transduction of various cell types occasionally overlapped, but often differed greatly, and no clear tissue type preference emerged. Application of native MCV virions to a subset of highly transducible cell types suggested that the lines do not support robust replication of MCV, consistent with recent proposals that the MCV late phase may be governed by cellular differentiation in vivo. The availability of carefully curated gene expression data for the NCI-60 panel should make the MCV and BKV transduction data for these lines a useful reference for future studies aimed at elucidation of the infectious entry pathways of these viruses.
High dispersive and monolithic 100% efficiency grisms

Abstract: We present a type of grism, a series combination of transmission grating and prism, in which we reduce the number of diffraction orders and achieve a configuration with very high angular dispersion. The grism can be fabricated from a single dielectric material and requires no metallic or dielectric film layers for high transmission diffraction efficiency. One can reach 100% in the -1st transmission diffraction order and the equal damage threshold as the dielectric bulk material. We realized such an element in fused silica with an efficiency of more then 99%. The bevel backside reflection is reduced by a statistical antireflective structure, so we measured an efficiency of the entire grism of 95% at a single wavelength.
Comparative Theology: Between Theology and Religious Studies

Abstract: In the German-speaking academy there is a widespread rivalry between theology and religious studies. “Comparative Theology” provokes suspicions from both sides. This contribution first takes a look at the history of the rivalry, refers then to the criticism from both sides against “Comparative Theology” and suggests a way of positioning it between the two stools. It pleads for distinguishing between the levels of (analytical) method and (constructive) interpretation as far as possible. The comparative approach should be understood and used as a method of comparative analysis in accordance with the standards of religious studies, while theological reflection should constitute the hermeneutical frame of motivation and interpretation.
Curving simulation and stability of a creep-controlled wheelset for high speed rail-vehicles

Abstract: higher travel speeds of rail vehicles will be possible by developing sophisticated top performance bogies having creep-controlled wheelsets. in this case the torque transmission between the right and the left wheel is realized by an actively controlled creep coupling. to investigate hunting stability and curving capability the linear equations of motion are written in state space notation. simulation results are obtained with realistic system parameters from industry and various controller gains. the advantage of the ?creep-controlled wheelset" is discussed by comparison the simulation results with the dynamic behaviour of the special cases ?solid-axle wheelset" and ?loose wheelset" (independent rotation of the wheels). the stability is also investigated with a root-locus analysis.

Abstract: Si Maquiavelo articuló su estándar de dualidad moral - diferenciando entre la moralidad individual y la moralidad de las naciones - sobre la base de la doctrina de la razón de estado, Niebuhr acepta este dualismo ético pero fundamentándolo en un modelo ético social – de influencia cristiana. En El hombre moral y la sociedad inmoral (1931), el teólogo y pensador político realista Reinhold Niebuhr, insiste en que el ser y el deber ser en el comportamiento de las naciones está condicionado por las debilidades individuales de los seres humanos que, además, se potencian en la esfera social. Por lo tanto, frente a la ética individualista que subyace al liberalismo – convencida de que la libertad del individuo es la vía para alcanzar el progreso, bienes y la justicia – apela al necesario reconocimiento de la dimensión sistémica de las injusticias y, con ello, a la urgente necesidad de responsabilidad colectiva y creatividad social para alcanzar un orden de justicia no ideal sino susceptible de ser humanamente realizado. Niebuhr, while accepting this ethical dualism, based it on a social ethical model – of Christian influence. In Moral Man and Immoral society (1932), Nieburh, a theologian and a realist political thinker, underlines that what is and what should be in the realm of the behaviour of nations is influenced by the limits of the human nature. Therefore, in contrast with the individualist ethics that underlies liberalism - which believes that progress, benefits and social justice are the result of individual freedom - he focuses on the systemic dimension of injustice. In doing so, Niebuhr claims for a collective responsibility and a social creativity so as to reach an 'order of justice' which is not idealistic or utopian but which can be made by human beings. Within a society the only possible justice is one that results in a relative, unstable and contingent moral order.

Die beiden fachwissenschaftlichen Bücher sprechen ein breites Publikum an und besch ftigen sich mit der Globalisierung in didaktischer Absicht. W hrend von Weizs cker der Argumentation von konomen im Globalisierungsdiskurs Geh r verschaffen will und mit markt- und demokratietheoretischen Modellen arbeitet, beabsichtigt Reimann eine kultursoziologische Analyse der Weltgesellschaft und verwendet dafür ein Modell globaler Kommunikationsnetze. Beide Autoren betrachten die Globalisierung und ihre Folgen aus einer optimistischen Perspektive.
