Ingermina, de Juan José Nieto: antagonismo y alegoría en los orígenes de la novela caribe?a
Avelar,Idelber;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2011,
Abstract: this paper analyzes a pioneering novel in the literary tradition of the colombian caribbean: ingermina, published by juan josé nieto during his exile to jamaica in 1844, and practically forgotten for a century and a half, until it was reedited in 1998. ingermina tells of the conquest of the kingdom of calamar and its conversion into the colonial cartagena of the new granada. the text revolves around the love between an indian woman and a spanish colonist. in contrast to other stories (such as the mexican malinche, iracema in brazil, etc.), nieto's novel offers a notably diverse view of the indigenous population, which is divided between radical and moderate anti-colonialists. my article analyzes the subsumption made by nieto, of a political antagonism under a moral antagonism. firmly planted within the context of colombia in the 19th century, i refer this subsumption to the limits of nieto's liberalism, one of the most radical of his time.

La construcción del canon y la cuestión del valor literario The Construction of Cannon and the Matter of Lierary Value
Idelber Avelar
Aisthesis , 2009,
The following essay raises the premise that in every literary study there is the question of value, one way or another. From that point, and focusing in the criticism and some problems that are attached to it, it is developed a brief panoramic view on the subject of judgment and "literary value", beginning from some precepts found in New Criticism, and passing, among others, through some reflections of Wayne Booth until arriving to Harold Bloom, examining and tensioning his concept of Canon.

A new occurrence of Anodontites tenebricosus (Bivalvia: Mycetopodidae) in the Sapucaí river basin, S?o Paulo, Brazil: environmental and conchological aspects
Troncon, EK.;Avelar, WEP;
Brazilian Journal of Biology , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-69842011000400007
Abstract: the aim of this work was to register the occurrence of anodontites tenebricosus (bivalvia: mycetopodidae) in the sapucaí river basin, municipality of s?o joaquim da barra, s?o paulo state, brazil, associating its occurrence to the environment in which they are found, besides providing conchological data to contribute to the identification of the species. fifty one specimens of anodontites tenebricosus were studied regarding their conchological and morphometrical aspects. strong correlations were found between the morphometric variables, the correlation between 'length and height of the shell' being the most significant. the characteristics of the shells of a. tenebricosus found in the sapucaí river basin resemble the descriptions of the species found in the literature; therefore, we are able to expand the area of occurrence of the species for the state of s?o paulo.
The anatomy and functional morphology of Diplodon rhombeus fontainianus (Orbigny, 1835) (Mollusca Bivalvia, Hyriidae)
Avelar, WEP.;Cunha, AD.;
Brazilian Journal of Biology , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-69842009000500021
Abstract: diplodon rhombeus fontainianus (orbigny, 1835), belongs to the family hyriidae swainson 1840, the distribution of which is restricted to south america and australasia. this species, endemic to brazil, occurs in the central-southern geographical region, upper paraná basin and atlantic microbasins espirito santo to paraná states. the mollusk lives buried in muddy substrata, has similar sized adductor muscles, and is dioecious, lacking sexual dimorphism. the apertures are simple (type aii of yonge, 1948, 1957) as in diplodon rotundus gratus, castalia undosa martensi, castalia undosa undosa and mantle fusion is present only in the base of the exalant aperture. the inhalant aperture exhibits tentacles originating from the inner fold while the exhalant aperture has no tentacles. the ctenidia are type d (of atkins, 1937). a well-developed marsupium is present in the inner demibranch. the association between the ctenidia and the labial palps belongs to category i (of stasek, 1963). the stomach constitutes a type iv structure (of purchon, 1958). the posterior sorting area (psa) presents two pouches in diplodon rhombeus fontainianus. among the hyriidae, the presence of these pouches has also been described in several species of hyriidae from south america. the organization of the gut in the visceral mass follows the same pattern seen in the hyriidae already studied: castalia undosa martensi, castalia undosa undosa, diplodon.rotundus gratus,diplodon charruanus and diplodon pilsbryi.

Locativos preposicionados em posi o de sujeito : uma possivel contribui o da línguas Bantu à sintaxe do português brasileiro

Linguística : Revista de Estudos Linguísticos da Universidade do Porto , 2008,
Abstract: We observe the existing contrast between Brazilian and European Portuguese in relation to prepositional locatives in embedded sentences, and we argue that those constituents can occupy the grammatical subject position in transitive sentences in Brazilian Portuguese. After examining the so-called locative inversion (in which a non-argumental locative constituent may be in subject position) found in various languages, we focus on the cases of the construction in the Bantu languages, since some of them were spoken by the majority of slaves brought to Brazil between the 16th and 19th centuries. We suggest that the Brazilian Portuguese innovations are the result of the Portuguese used as a second language by Bantu languages native speakers. The possibility for a locative to be pre-verbal and agree with the predicate in those languages combined with the impoverishment of the inflectional paradigm present in the primary linguistic data generated ambiguity for the child acquiring Portuguese as her first language. The pre-verbal locative phrase, which was in a peripheral position in Portuguese, is reanalized as possible in the position of grammatical subject in Brazilian Portuguese
