Don’t Stay Out Late! Mom, I’m Twenty-eight: Emerging Adults and Their Parents under One Roof
Asnat Dor
International Journal of Social Science Studies , 2013, DOI: 10.11114/ijsss.v1i1.35
Abstract: This qualitative study focuses on Israeli parents of emerging adults who still live at home, and explores their feelings and thoughts of the benefits and difficulties of the situation. Semi-structured open interviews were conducted with 27 Jewish non-religious parents who have one child aged 21-30 living with them, who was the youngest in the family, and the last to leave home. Most participants expressed comfortable feelings toward their young adult child living at home, and also mentioned some difficulties and conflicts. The findings reveal that alongside the good feelings, parents face substantial challenges in living with their emerging adult offspring who are on an extended journey toward adulthood.
Children's Facebook Usage: Parental Awareness, Attitudes and Behavior

Studies in Media and Communication , 2013, DOI: 10.11114/smc.v1i1.28
Abstract: The study aims to focus on parental awareness, attitudes and behavior regarding children's use of the world's largest social network - Facebook. Data were obtained from 195 Israeli parents, Jews and Arabs whose children are above and under the age of 13 (official age to start registration to Facebook). Analyses included variance analyses, correlations, and regressions. The results indicated that parents have moderate to low levels of awareness, involvement, and monitoring in their children's Facebook usage. However significant differences were found between mothers and fathers, as mothers expressed less positive attitudes toward Facebook and greater need for guidance than fathers. Arab parents expressed higher levels of monitoring and of need for guidance than Jews. Our findings highlight the need for usage regulation and for guidance for parents in order to help them direct their children toward safe and responsible use of the internet.
Isolated right coronary lesion and anterolateral papillary muscle rupture - case report and review of the literature
Stefanovski Dime,Walfisch Asnat,Kedev Sa?ko,Tager Salis
Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery , 2012, DOI: 10.1186/1749-8090-7-75
Abstract: Ischemic rupture of the anterolateral papillary muscle is uncommon due to its dual blood supply. It usually follows an ischemic event involving branches of the left circumflex or left anterior descending arteries. We present a case of a patient admitted with an acute inferior wall myocardial infarction and an isolated distal right coronary artery occlusion. Acute mitral regurgitation with rupture of the anterolateral papillary muscle was diagnosed on the fifth post-infarction day. The patient underwent mitral valve replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting to the posterior descending artery. We conclude that anterolateral papillary muscle rupture may also result from an isolated right coronary lesion.
Rela es de sucessos como elementos da cultura da vitória na Restaura o Portuguesa
Doré, Andrea
Talia Dixit : Revista Interdisciplinar de Retórica e Historiografía , 2011,
Abstract: This article analyses some elements contained in military reports about the war between Portugal and Spain during the Portuguese Restoration (1640-1668). These texts are considered as part of a set of manifestations understood as practices of victory, which include literary works, paintings of battles and the use of prisoners and objects of worship. The reports of events or relations of victory point to a connection with the conception of history as the guardian of memory, ensuring the preservation of worthy deeds, and the status of truth provided by the testimony of view. These reports intended to build and disseminate an image of the Portuguese people, preserving the nation's reputation in front of their allies and opponents within and outside Europe.
[English] The course MEC626 Prototypage rapide is centred around a learning activity called the Seminar, in which students coproduce high-quality French-language documentation that makes up a large part of the course notes. Social-constructivist in inspiration, this activity mobilizes the students to use tools and develop knowhow that will be useful to them in the practice of their profession. In all, seven technologies support the activity. Most noteworthy among them are : a variety of search engines that are used to find relevant information ; a bibliographical management software that is useful for categorizing information and producing a collective database ; and FTP transfer which allows the exchange of documents and serves as a showcase for student assignments. Not only does the Seminar enable students to familiarize themselves with the subject matter, it also offers them the opportunity to master a set of ICT based tools and methods, while providing them with an experience that is both significant and relevant.
Changes in Mean Global Physical Parameters of Blazhko RR Lyrae stars -- Derived from Multicolor Photometry
á. Sódor
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1063/1.3246496
Abstract: We developed an Inverse Photometric method (IPM) to determine global physical parameters of RR Lyrae stars exclusively from multicolor light curves (S\'odor, Jurcsik & Szeidl, 2009, MNRAS, 394, 261). We showed that for good quality photometric observations of unmodulated RRab stars, the IPM gives similarly good results as direct Baade-Wesselink analyses do, but without the need for spectroscopic measurements. In the course of the development, we payed special attention to the applicability of the IPM for modulated RR Lyrae stars. Since there is no simultaneous spectroscopic radial velocity and photometric observations of any Blazhko star with good phase coverage both in pulsation and modulation, which would allow spectroscopic Baade-Wesselink analysis, the IPM is the only possibility today to study changes in the global physical parameters of Blazhko RR Lyrae stars during the modulation cycle. With the IPM, we have studied the extensive multicolor light curves of 4 Blazhko RRab stars we observed with the 24-inch telescope of the Konkoly Observatory during the past 5 years in the frame of the Konkoly Blazhko Survey. Small but unambiguous changes in the pulsation-averaged mean temperature, mean radius and mean luminosity have been detected in each star. Results on these Blazhko stars (SS Cnc, DM Cyg, RR Gem, and MW Lyr) are shown in this paper.

Griffiths phases and localization in hierarchical modular networks
Géza ódor,Ronald Dickman,Gergely ódor
Physics , 2015, DOI: 10.1038/srep14451
Abstract: We study variants of hierarchical modular network models suggested by Kaiser and Hilgetag [Frontiers in Neuroinformatics, 4 (2010) 8] to model functional brain connectivity, using extensive simulations and quenched mean-field theory (QMF), focusing on structures with a connection probability that decays exponentially with the level index. Such networks can be embedded in two-dimensional Euclidean space. We explore the dynamic behavior of the contact process (CP) and threshold models on networks of this kind, including hierarchical trees. While in the small-world networks originally proposed to model brain connectivity, the topological heterogeneities are not strong enough to induce deviations from mean-field behavior, we show that a Griffiths phase can emerge under reduced connection probabilities, approaching the percolation threshold. In this case the topological dimension of the networks is finite, and extended regions of bursty, power-law dynamics are observed. Localization in the steady state is also shown via QMF. We investigate the effects of link asymmetry and coupling disorder, and show that localization can occur even in small-world networks with high connectivity in case of link disorder.
Antes de existir o Brasil: os portugueses na índia entre estratégias da Coroa e táticas individuais
Doré, Andréa;
História (S?o Paulo) , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-90742009000100007
Abstract: this article proposes a discussion of the factors that contributed to the settling within the portuguese possessions along the shores of the indian ocean, namely the construction of fortresses along this coastline. these settlements represented an official strategy of establishment within the territory and of control of the commercial routes. simultaneously, however, private individuals sought other forms of becoming wealthy which were very often contrary to the portuguese crown's interests. the analysis of these two lines of action is based on the definition of strategies and tactics proposed by michel de certeau.
Critical behavior in reaction-diffusion systems exhibiting absorbing phase transitions
ódor, Géza;
Brazilian Journal of Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-97332003000300003
Abstract: phase transitions of reaction-diffusion systems with a site occupation restriction, particle creation requiring n > 2 parents, and in which explicit diffusion of single particles (a) is possible, are reviewed. arguments based on mean-field approximation and simulations are given which support novel kind of nonequilibrium criticality. these are in contradiction with the implications of a suggested phenomenological, multiplicative noise langevin equation approach and with some recent numerical analyses. simulation results for one- and two-dimensional binary spreading model, 2a ? 4a, 4a ? 2a, reveal a new type of mean-field criticality characterized by the critical exponents a = 1/3 and b = 1/2, as suggested in a recent preprint [cond-mat/0210615]
