Working Capital Management and Profitability: A Sensitivity Analysis

Abstract: This paper analyzes the effect of working capital management on the profitability of manufacturing firms. The data analysis was carried for 1198 manufacturing firms listed in Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy for a period of 5 years. The relationship of debtor’s days, inventory days, creditor’s days, current ratio, ratio of current liability to total assets, assets turnover ratio, financial assets to total assets, and size with return on assets employed is analyzed in this study. The authors apply correlation analysis and group wise weighted least squares regression analysis to identify the effects of these variables on profitability. The correlation analysis shows that the firms’ profitability is highly influenced by the variables relating to assets. We find a positive relationship between profitability and debtors’ days and inventory days. Creditor’s days shows a significant positive relationship. We conduct sensitivity analysis to find out the range of return on assets to the given level of independent variables
Nanosuspension technology and its applications in drug delivery

Abstract: Solubility is an essential factor for drug effectiveness, independent of the route of administration. Poorly soluble drugs are often a challenging task for formulators in the industry. Conventional approaches for enhancement of solubility have limited applicability, especially when the drugs are poorly soluble simultaneously in aqueous and in non-aqueous media. Nanosuspension technology can be used to improve the stability as well as the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs. Nanosuspensions are biphasic systems consisting of pure drug particles dispersed in an aqueous vehicle, stabilized by surfactants. These are simple to prepare and are more advantageous than other approaches. Techniques such as wet milling, high-pressure homogenization, emulsification-solvent evaporation and super critical fluid have been used in the preparation of nanosuspensions. It has the advantage of delivery by various routes, including oral, parenteral, pulmonary and ocular routes. The present article reviews the current methods used to prepare nanosuspensions and their application in drug delivery.
Effect of Ribs and Stringer Spacings on the Weight of Aircraft Structure for Aluminum Material

Abstract: Low cost and less weight are the two primary objectives of any aircraft structure. Efficient design of aircraft components is therefore, required to reduce cost and weight of the aircraft structure. For components with compressive loading, Ribs and stringer spacings and stringer cross-section play a major role in achieving less weight. The main objective of the present study was aimed at establishing optimum stringer and ribs spacings and stringer cross-section for minimum weight of buckling design driven components using FEM packages. The analysis of effect of plate with ribs and stringer spacing was modeled in FEM to study the effect of these on the weight of aircraft structure using aluminum as material. The analysis was carried out through linear buckling analysis of the model. The software tools used were HyperMesh as a pre and post processor and Radioss as a solver.

Metal Sorption Studies of a Novel Terpolymer Resin

Abstract: Novel terpolymer resin involving phthalic acid and urea with formaldehyde (PUF) was synthesized by condensation polymerization in glacial acetic acid medium and proved to be a selective chelation ion-exchange terpolymer for certain metals. The resin was characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Based on the spectral data, the structure of the resin was proposed. The average molecular weight of the terpolymer resin was determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The morphology of the terpolymer was established by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, the physicochemical parameters were also determined for the terpolymer resin. A batch equilibrium method was employed to study the selectivity and sorption capacity of the resin towards certain divalent metal ions such as Pb2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Ba2+, Co2+ and Mn2+ in various electrolyte concentrations, wide pH ranges and different time intervals. Hence the resin can be used to recover certain metal ions from waste solutions and used for the purpose of purification of waste water and removal of iron from boiler water. The ion-exchange capacity of the metal ions has also been compared with other commercial resins.
Formulation development and in vitro evaluation of nanosuspensions loaded with Atorvastatin calcium

Abstract: The aim of this study was to prepare and characterize nanosuspensions of a poorly soluble drug (Atorvastatin calcium) in order to enhance its solubility and dissolution characteristics. Nanosuspensions were prepared by high pressure homogenization technique. They were characterized by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), solubility, and in vitro drug release studies. The absence of atorvastatin peaks in PXRD profiles of nanosuspensions suggests the transformation of crystalline drug into an amorphous form. TGA examination suggested that the drug was converted into anhydrous form from the original trihydrate form. DSC curves also compliment the result obtained by TGA and PXRD. The effect of particle size was found to be significant on the saturation solubility of the drug. The in vitro drug release studies showed a significant increase in the dissolution rate of nanosuspensions as compared with pure drug. This study has shown that initial crystalline state is reduced following particle size reduction and that the dissolution characteristics of atorvastatin nanosuspensions were significantly increased in regards to the pure drug. The method being simple and easily scaled up, this approach should have a general applicability to many poorly water-soluble drug entities.

Abstract: Using an optically-trapped mixture of the two lowest hyperfine states of a $^6$Li Fermi gas, we observe two-field optical tuning of the narrow Feshbach resonance by up to 3 G and an increase in spontaneous lifetime near the broad resonance from $0.5$ ms to $0.4$ s. We present a new model of light-induced loss spectra, employing continuum-dressed basis states, that agrees in shape and magnitude with measurements for both broad and narrow resonances.

Abstract: This article studies a design and implementation of state-feedback control problem for dc-dc Positive Output Super Lift Luo (POSLL) converter by considering the line and load disturbances for needing desired power source for various portable electronic equipments like battery charger, hard disk drives, medical device, LED TV etc. The POSLLs dynamic performance becomes non-linear in nature; the designed controller able to get superior dynamic performance given by load estimation is done by using an observer and by combining the state-feedback control with the load estimator, a controller which is explicitly developed with strong robustness using separation principle. An effectual stability analysis is exemplified to prove that by carefully selecting the state feedback control and observer gain matrix, the output voltage of the dc-dc POSLL converter tracks the desired value irrespective of the uncertainties. Extensive simulation is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink model. The result based on time domain analysis is done by using the controllers for various disturbances given to the converter.

Abstract: recently, migration with trafficking of women has become an important social issue for two reasons: firstly, because it puts women into the migratory wave, and secondly, because of the violence faced by immigrant woman at the place of destination. every day thousands of women worldwide are trafficked into cities and other countries with false promises and coercion, basically for the purpose of sexual exploitation. although trafficking of women is progressively drawing attention worldwide, its lack of conceptual definition makes it hard to distinguish between illegal migration and trafficking. so, the main objective of this study is to develop a clear conceptual definition of women trafficking and to construct a typology considering the patterns of migration from the place of origin to destination.
