Artmann,Elizabeth;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232001000100015
Abstract: this paper is aimed to discuss interdisciplinarity from habermas approach, which importance is due to the possibility of a wider and integrated view of different rationalities within health field. some basic concepts from the habermasian paradigm are presented in order to explore the possibility of an interdisciplinarity project in health field. special emphasis is given to the role of language as an articulator of the action in general and all the knowledge related to the action or performance in the world. concepts from the strategic-situational planing approach are also taken as reference to discuss and an example of the problem of an increase of aids incidence, from the point of view interdisciplinary from the health department's perspective in a medium size municipality.

Abstract: This article reported a new computerized cytomechanical analyzer with dynamic shear stress genrator and photometric apparatus which could automatically determine the RBC resting shape parameter (RF) , membrane stiffness parameter (S), relaxation half time (t50%) and cell viscosity parameter (VP) to describe mechanical behaviour for cells. It was carried out to test the sensitivity, accuracy and reproducibility for analyzer, and to study the effects on mechanical behaviour of RBC membranes caused by Triton, Sodium Salicylate, Trental, Dusordril and Rokan (EGb 761). Our results show the important values for our analyzer to study pharmacological effects for drugs and to test cytorheological behaviour in clinical medical investigations.
Molecular Processes in Biological Thermosensation
I. Digel,P. Kayser,G. M. Artmann
Journal of Biophysics , 2008, DOI: 10.1155/2008/602870
Abstract: Since thermal gradients are almost everywhere, thermosensation could represent one of the oldest sensory transduction processes that evolved in organisms. There are many examples of temperature changes affecting the physiology of living cells. Almost all classes of biological macromolecules in a cell (nucleic acids, lipids, proteins) can present a target of the temperature-related stimuli. This review discusses some features of different classes of temperature-sensing molecules as well as molecular and biological processes that involve thermosensation. Biochemical, structural, and thermodynamic approaches are applied in the paper to organize the existing knowledge on molecular mechanisms of thermosensation. Special attention is paid to the fact that thermosensitive function cannot be assigned to any particular functional group or spatial structure but is rather of universal nature. For instance, the complex of thermodynamic, structural, and functional features of hemoglobin family proteins suggests their possible accessory role as “molecular thermometers”.
A lideran?a como intersubjetividade lingüística
Rivera, Francisco Javier Uribe;Artmann, Elizabeth;
Interface - Comunica??o, Saúde, Educa??o , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-32832006000200010
Abstract: this paper sums up some concepts regarding leadership and seeks to highlight the growing importance of the vision of a leader in assisting in organizational learning, based on team-work, and in coordinating linguistic communication processes oriented towards understanding the organization's mission, structure, and dynamics. upholding that, in addition to their ability to implement strategic management, leaders must also develop communication skills and support change, in order to manage more effectively intersubjective relationships among organizational subjects, to make the organization more competent.
Oliveira, Miguel dos Santos de;Artmann, Elizabeth;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2009000300009
Abstract: this article presents the results of a study on the public health system's medical workforce in the province of cabinda, angola. the objective was to study the characteristics of medical personnel, seeking to help define strategies to expand access and improve quality of care. the study covered the period from 2001 to 2004 and used secondary data, semi-structured interviews with health professionals, direct observation, and comparison with the literature. quality of medical care in cabinda was low, with one physician per 3,356 inhabitants. there were communities with more than 35,000 inhabitants and not a single physician. working conditions were poor, and physicians suffered from low motivation. the study concluded that formulation and implementation of policies envisioning improvements in the management of medical professionals in the sector could help enhance the quality of care in the province, but it would require involvement by relevant actors and additional research on the other health professions.
Oliveira, Miguel dos Santos de;Artmann, Elizabeth;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2009000400006
Abstract: this article presents the health situation in angola from 2000 to 2007, discussing regionalization of the health system as an important instrument for improving access and the use of health services in the country, besides highlighting the conditions and challenges for implementation. the article is based on a literature review of: (a) brazilian authors, considering that health reform is still under way in brazil, with extensive academic output on this particular theme, (b) african authors or studies on africa and international studies, considering the need to review regional and global experiences related to the subject, and (c) world health organization studies and guidelines on health decentralization and regionalization. the need for reform in the angolan health system has been demonstrated by the enormous structural and operational deficiencies, leading in turn to low effectiveness and reliability. regionalization was considered a key strategy for restructuring the health system. however, the evaluation of its impact will only be possible in the long term.
Rivera,Francisco Javier Uribe; Artmann,Elizabeth;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232010000500002
Abstract: this article aims to present a condensed overview of major trends in brazil, establish a general taxonomy of models of health management and planning, based on the international scene and support the proposal for a communicative planning. in a context of democratization, argues for a pluralistic conception and concludes that the various currents, albeit with different perspectives and referrals theoretical and methodological dialogue in a process of mutual exchange and learning.
Artmann,Elizabeth; Uribe Rivera,Francisco Javier;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232003000200013
Abstract: this text is a general presentation of the hospital strategic management methodology elaborated by m. crémadez and f. grateau (france), including the goals, phases and main tools of the approach. the work takes into account the microeconomic aspects of the methodology and its potentials to stucture health care networks based on negotiation of hospitals goals. the text includes the presentation of one experience of implementation of the approach as a regional coordination mean applied by general surgery discipline of programatic area (ap-4) hospitals of rio de janeiro city.
