Abstract: a comparative analysis of flow models developed for the solids in a multistage spouted bed system designed by arriola (1997), is presented. models for the residence time distribution, suitable for commercial applications in processing seeds and grains, has been selected in the study. the experimental residence time distribution function was obtained by the stimulus-response technique using colored particles. four models were compared: three compartment models, and the stirred-tank-in-series model. evaluation of these models showed that the compartment models are more suitable for commercial applications. the statistical analysis allows to conclude that the best model, due to its simplicity, is the compartment model proposed by arriola

Abstract: key properties of seed of mexican lime (citrus aurantifolia swingle) were studied for potential uses by the food industry. characteristics considered included physical properties, composition, toxicity to rodents (average lethal dose and chronic toxicity), as well as germicidal activity (inhibition rings and germicidal effectiveness). the seed contained 21% protein, 39% vegetable oil and 29% fiber, particularly lignin. the seed could potentially be used as a basic component for nutritional supplements or functional food products. the toxicity was nil, and thus seed derivatives were safe for human consumption. some germicidal effectiveness was found against candida albicans, 85.77% (starting population = 0.304*108 ufc/ml), and against escherichia coli, 91.447% (starting population = 190*108 ufc/ml), suggesting seed extracts could be used as an ingredient in germicidal products.

A comparative analysis of flow models developed for the solids in a multistage spouted bed system designed by Arriola (1997), is presented. Propuesta de definición histórica para región
Taracena Arriola, Arturo;
Estudios de historia moderna y contemporánea de México , 2008,
Abstract: set in the context of the recent debate at the heart of mexican historiography on the use of the concept region and the viability of regional history, this article seeks to answer the question of whether, trapped by polysemy and empiricism, the latter appears to lack the theoretical and methodological elements that support it. it therefore explores the modern origin of the concept and the elements a region must contain for it to be regarded as such from the discipline of history and the existence of at least three types of region (thematic, historical and conjunctural). finally, it points out that regional history can include both the emergence and the political, economic and territorial stages of transformation characteristic of regions, such as the gestation and birth of the nation-state to which they now belong. this is the reason why they can be compared at the latin american level.
El plan de manejo para el Paisaje Agavero y las Antiguas Instalaciones Industriales de Tequila. El patrimonio cultural como detonador del desarrollo regional, antecedentes, compromisos y retos
Gómez Arriola,Ignacio;
Apuntes: Revista de Estudios sobre Patrimonio Cultural - Journal of Cultural Heritage Studies , 2009,
Abstract: the text explores the values as cultural heritage of the region of the volcano of tequila, newly inscribed on the world heritage list of unesco in the category of cultural landscape, as well as the challenges and commitments to the international community to their preservation on the formulation and implementation of a plan of management for the "agave landscape and the ancient industrial facilities of tequila". the document is divided into three parts. the first discusses the criteria and the cultural elements that allowed the identification of the tequila region and its resulting landscape as cultural heritage. the second explains features, objectives, strategies, management processes and specific projects set out in the management plan of the agave landscape of tequila to promote and foster the sustainable development of the region. the third part explains the problem that has been presented for institutional and concrete implementation of the management plan seeking to incorporate all the actors involved in the region, from the date of the inscription as cultural heritage at the present time. this work aims to provide an overview of the work and the challenges that has passed this initiative since its initial development in 2001 until the present.
Seguridad y migración en el espacio fronterizo Tabasco-El Petén
Arriola Vega, Luis Alfredo;
Migración y desarrollo , 2009,
Abstract: this paper analyzes the relationship between the complex subjects of migration and security, which encompasses issues such as national sovereignty versus free human mobility; what is judicially legal versus what is socially legitimate, and the defense of particular notions of security when faced by both real and potential threats, such as a pandemic or a terrorist attack. a qualitative description of the flow of undocumented migrants across the region of tabasco (mexico) and el petén (guatemala), an activity labeled as illicit by the state, provides an initial look into the relationship between migration and security on a local level. however, the ultimately global presence of this process requires new ways of conceiving security, ways that can ensure a democratic management of the migration phenomenon.

Revista de la Sociedad Espa?ola del Dolor , 2009,
Abstract: objective: to assess the presence of pain among elderly residents in care homes. material and method: we performed a descriptive cross sectional study to establish the prevalence and characteristics of pain in residents of a care home without cognitive impairment and in those with dementia using the observational pain assessment in advanced dementia (painad) scale. results: the evaluation was performed in a care home with 187 residents with a mean age of 84 years. seventy-four percent were women, 40% had high dependency and the prevalence of dementia was 64%. the prevalence of pain was 61%, mainly nociceptive and somatic pain related to osteoarticular disease. daily pain was experienced by 64% and severe pain by 29%. the most frequently used pain intensity evaluation scale was the numerical pain scale. there was some correlation between the presence of pain and functional capacity and anxiety. twenty-two percent of patients with dementia scored more than 4 points on the painad scale and a correlation was found between the presence of pain and functional capacity and emotional and behavioral states. a low correlation (r: 0.24) was found between behavior disorders and the presence of pain. conclusions: given the high prevalence of pain in elderly residents of care homes, systematic and structured pain detection may be a basic requirement to achieve adequate quality of life and quality of care in this setting.
