Implementing Quotient Rayleigh in Power Method to Improve the Computation Speed of Pagerank

Abstract: PageRank is one of popular web page ranking mechanisms, which is used by Google. It works based on link analysis. The computation of existing pagerank consumes a very significant time, i.e., in the scale of days, due to the fact that it has to find Eigen values of billion of web pages off-line. Previous attempts on reducing the computation time by shorting the time for Eigen value convergence have been carried out based on several methods, such as extrapolation, sparse linear system and quadratic extrapolation. This study proposes a new approach, i.e., using Quotient Rayleigh in the power method in order to shorten the convergence of dominant Eigen values. This modified power method resulted in a significant improvement on PageRank performance. The interpolation over n-size web pages also shows a consistent performance of the proposed approach.
Effect of Clay Addition on Mechanical Properties of Unsaturated Polyester/Glass Fiber Composites

Abstract: Unsaturated polyester (UP)/glass fiber/clay composites were prepared by hand layup method. The effect of clay loading on the morphological and mechanical properties of UP/glass fiber composites was investigated in this study. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to characterize the structure of the composites. The mechanical properties of the composites were determined by tensile, flexural, unnotched Charpy impact and fracture toughness tests. XRD results indicated that the exfoliated structure was found in the composite containing 2?wt% of clay while the intercalated structure was obtained in the composite with 6?wt% of clay. The tensile strength, flexural strength, and flexural modulus of the composites were increased in the presence of clay. The optimum loading of clay in the UP/glass fiber composites was attained at 2?wt%, where the improvement in in tensile strength, flexural strength, and flexural modulus was approximately 13, 21, and 11%, respectively. On the other hand, the highest values in impact toughness and fracture toughness were observed in the composites with 4?wt% of clay. 1. Introduction Glass fiber reinforced composites have become attractive structural materials not only in weight sensitive aerospace industry but also in marine, armor, automobile, railways, civil engineering structures, sport goods, and so forth. This is attributed to high specific strength and specific stiffness of the glass fiber reinforced composites. Unsaturated polyester (UP) is one of most commonly used polymer matrix with reinforcing fibers for advanced composites applications due to its low cost, easy handling, rigid, resilient, flexible, corrosion resistant, weather resistant, and flame retardant. Montmorillonite clay has received much attention as reinforcing materials for polymer because of its potentially high aspect ratio and unique intercalation/exfoliation characteristics. The small amount addition of montmorillonite clay into polymer matrix exhibits unexpected properties including reducing gas permeability, improved solvent resistance, being superior in mechanical properties and thermal stability, and enhanced flame retardant properties [1]. Typically, clay minerals have a layered silicate structure about 1?nm in thickness and high aspect ratio ranging from 100 to 1500 [2]. Stability of Marangoni Convection in a Fluid Layer with Variable Viscosity and deformable Free Surface under Free-Slip condition

Abstract: The steady marangoni convection is investigated in ahorizontal layer of fluid with a free-slip bottom heated frombelow and cooled from above. Since the viscosity is temperaturedependentthe consequences of relaxing oberbeck-boussinesqapproximation and free surface deformability are theoreticallyexamined by means of small disturbance analysis. Prediction forthe onset of convection are obtained from the analysis bynumerical technique. The effect of variable viscosity and surfacedeformation on the onset of fluid motion is investigated in detail.It is shown that the critical values of marangoni and wavenumber depend strongly on the viscosity variation and surfacedeformation.
The Impact of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Implementation on Organization: Case Study ERP Implementation in Indonesia

Abstract: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is one of the most popular software technologies for supporting operational organization. It emphasizes business transformation which will lead to process change in its effort to maximize the company’s benefit. However, implementation of ERP system does not always give a strategic benefit for the company. Most companies did not succeed in implementing this system. In this study, we focused on the exploration of strategical and tactical impact induced by the implementation of ERP and to find out the correlation among ERP implementation success with the strategical and tactical impact. Thirty-five respondents from seven companies became the samples that represent four different industrial sectors (oil & service, manufacturing, telecommunication, automotive). It was found that ERP implementation gave more impact to tactical level than to strategical level. This is derived from data analysis using Spearman rank test which shows that ρyx1 = 0.167 (not significant with p<0.05) and ρyx2 = 0.813 (significant with p<0.01). Thus, specifically for Indonesian companies, the present study shows that ERP implementation acted only as a support toward the core business instead of creating a competitive advantage. The reasons behind these findings are: (1) the companies were not ready to make big investment for implementing all modules in ERP, including the specific modules; (2) the companies were afraid to fail in their implementation, so they chose to implement the modules only for supporting the core business; (3) the ERP implementations were not driven by the organizations’ business needs, but by the technology itself; (4) there were other external factors which forced the companies to implement ERP, such as: government policy, bank policy and political issue.
Effect of SrCO3 addition on the dynamic compressive strength of ZTA

Abstract: Ceramic parts usually experience dynamic load in armor applications. Therefore, studying the dynamic behaviors of ceramics is important. Limited data are available on the dynamic behaviors of ceramics; thus, it is helpful to predict the dynamic strength of ceramics on the basis of their mechanical properties. In this paper, the addition of SrCO3 into zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA) was demonstrated to improve the fracture toughness of ZTA due to the formation of the SrAl12O19 (SA6) phase. The porosity of ZTA was found to be increased by the addition of SrCO3. These newly formed pores served as the nucleation sites of cracks under dynamic load; these cracks eventually coalesced to form damaged zones in the samples. Although the K IC values of the samples were improved, the dynamic strength was not enhanced because of the increase in porosity; in fact, the dynamic strength of ZTA ceramics decreased with the addition of SrCO3.
The influence of leadership behaviour on organisational citizenship behaviour in self-managed work teams in Malaysia

Abstract: This study examined the influence of transformational-transactional leadership behaviour on organisational citizenship behaviour in self-managed work teams and the augmenting effect of transformational-transactional leadership behaviour. This cross-sectional correlation study was conducted on 93 self-managed work teams in a multinational manufacturing company. Data were collected through group face-to-face administration by the researcher and statistically analysed through Pearson correlation, partial correlation and multiple regressions. Results showed that both transactional and transformational leadership behaviour have a positive influence on organisational citizenship behaviour among team members. Transformational leadership behaviour, however, has a greater influence on organisational citizenship behaviour compared to transactional leadership behaviour. The results also conf rmed the augmenting effect of transformational leadership behaviour on the relationship between transactional leadership behaviour and organisational citizenship behaviour. Abstract: Information extraction is an early stage of a process of textual data analysis. Information extraction is required to get information from textual data that can be used for process analysis, such as classification and categorization. A textual data is strongly influenced by the language. Arabic is gaining a significant attention in many studies because Arabic language is very different from others, and in contrast to other languages, tools and research on the Arabic language is still lacking. The information extracted using the knowledge dictionary is a concept of expression. A knowledgedictionary is usually constructed manually by an expert and this would take a long time and is specific to a problem only. This paper proposed a method for automatically building a knowledge dictionary. Dictionary knowledge is formed by classifying sentences having the same concept, assuming that they will have a high similarity value. The concept that has been extracted can be used as features for subsequent computational process such as classification or categorization. Dataset used in this paper was the Arabic text dataset. Extraction result was tested by using a decision tree classification engine and the highest precision value obtained was 71.0% while the highest recall value was 75.0%.
Preparation and characterization of tubular ceramic support for use in transesterification process

Abstract: A tubular ceramic support intended for use in transesterification process was prepared using the polymeric foam replication method. Pieces of foam with pores 120 ppi in size were completely immersed in a 25wt% solid-loading of porcelain slurry. The dried samples were sintered for 2 hours to temperatures ranging from 1200°C to 1265°C, respectively. It was found that the optimum sintering temperature was 1250°C as the following values were obtained for each characteristic: 1.98 MPa compressive strength, 47.3% porosity, 2.773gcm3 density and 0.45mm pore size. XRD results show that the sintered ceramic consists of mullite and quartz.
Ultrafuzziness Optimization Based on Type II Fuzzy Sets for Image Thresholding

Abstract: Image thresholding is one of the processing techniques to provide high quality preprocessed image. Image vagueness and bad illumination are common obstacles yielding in a poor image thresholding output. By assuming image as fuzzy sets, several different fuzzy thresholding techniques have been proposed to remove these obstacles during threshold selection. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for thresholding image using ultrafuzziness optimization to decrease uncertainty in fuzzy system by common fuzzy sets like type II fuzzy sets. Optimization was conducted by involving ultrafuzziness measurement for background and object fuzzy sets separately. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed image thresholding method had good performances for images with high vagueness, low level contrast, and grayscale ambiguity.
