Can Non-Agricultural Employment Reduce Rural Poverty? Evidence From Mexico
Araujo,Caridad;
Cuadernos de economía , 2004, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-68212004012400004
Abstract: this paper explores the role of the local context on the effectiveness of policy interventions in reducing poverty through non-agricultural rural employment (nare). nare is negatively associated to poverty in mexico. manufacturing employment is more poverty-reducing than services in semi urban municipalities. in turn, services employment matters more in rural than in semi urban areas. factors associated to pro-poor nare are low income inequality, dynamic agriculture, and government expenditures. policy interventions in education and roads are poverty-reducing through manufacturing employment in semi urban municipalities and through services employment in all municipalities

LOS PROCESOS DE INSTITUCIONALIZACIóN COMO PROCESOS DE RECEPCIóN: AGENDAS TRANSNACIONALES Y CONTEXTOS LOCALES EN EL CASO DE CHILE
Araujo,Kathya;
Universum (Talca) , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-23762009000200002
Abstract: this paper discusses the pertinence of approaching the study of institutionalization processes at the state level as reception processes, that is, as a result of two interconnected dimensions: the political opportunities context and the reception operations. the text underlines the importance of the normative effects of institutionalization processes and its consequences on the discussions about domination within the context of transnational-local relationships. the implications of this analytical perspective are presented and developed through the analysis of feminist transnational agenda?s visions and concepts mobilized in the international sphere that find their way into the national state institutions. specifically the analysis will be carried out in the case of state policies and programs on sexuality (1990 - 2002) in chile.

CONFIGURACIONES DE SUJETO EN LA MODERNIDAD LATINOAMERICANA: EL CASO DE PERú A INICIOS DEL SIGLO XX
Kathya Araujo
The text analyzes the theoretical and political reception of the notion as well as the consequences of this type of understanding in two main areas: the production of knowledge and of the processes of state institutionalization (public policies). The main argument is that the non critical use of the notion of individual leads to its normative overdetermination contributing to the impoverishment of the reflections on Latin American societies, triggering the paradox that pursuing feminist utopian horizons of emancipation, new modes of domination might arise.
