Estado e expans?o do ensino superior privado no Brasil: uma análise institucional dos anos de 1990
Gon?alves, Sandro Aparecido;
Educar em Revista , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40602008000100007
Abstract: this article deals with the expansion of the private higher education in brazil in the 1990's based on the institutional changes involving the state in twentieth century, highlighting the crisis of the 1980's and culminating in the search for a new model in the last decade of analysis. it is worth pointing out that there is still no clarity concerning the relationship between state and society, even in the twenty-first century. given that the state has fewer instruments to direct action, it has not managed to reduce its size, has difficulty with regulatory operations and also has a reasonable interest in being constituted as the welfare state. in this context, it becomes easier to understand the current expansion in that it is an aspect of change and not an isolated phenomenon. as a methodological approach, thirty-two semi-structured interviews were conducted, and others read authors who have dealt with the subject. the main conclusions are given in this text.

Abstract: based on the analysis of certain editorials of the weekly publication brazil, urgent (1963-1964), this article attempts some interpretations concerning the content transmitted by that weekly paper of christian inspiration. with the objective of being legitimated before the social movements that also defended the human being's rights, the newspaper used various and inconstant resources. thus, the pluralism of ideas, which was present in the combative pages of brazil, urgent, varied from a defensive posture of the third path to an option of faith reoriented by the rationality of the social praxis.

Trindade, Thiago Aparecido;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64452012000300007
Abstract: this article introduces itself into the contemporary debate on the right to the city from two analytical perspectives: first, legal-institutional, is based on the city statute, a brazilian legislation approved in 2001; the second, theoretical, involves the classic debate about rights and citizenship, especially the contributions of thomas marshall and norberto bobbio to it. these perspectives, which are fundamental for the improvement of the theoretical debate on the right to the city, are scarcely present in the current discussion about that topic.

Bortolotto, Luiz Aparecido;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Endocrinologia & Metabologia , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27302007000200006
Abstract: functional and structural modifications in large arteries play an important role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. the diabetes mellitus besides arterial hypertension and ageing can induce these alterations in different arterial sites, and so leading to the development of atherosclerosis and its cardiovascular consequences. the main functional change of large arteries is an increase of stiffness, while the main structural modification is an increase of the intima-media thickness of carotid artery, and both changes have been recognized in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. the mechanisms of these structural and functional arterial modifications in diabetes include insulin resistance, collagen increase due to inadequate enzymatic glycation, endothelial and autonomic dysfunction. the increase of arterial stiffness is an independent cardiovascular risk marker in diabetic patients, and the treatment of diabetes per se and even of associated dyslipidemia and arterial hypertension can favorably modify these arterial changes.
