Abstract: the research ascertain about the senses that young persons, in the high mountain from the colombian andean zone, assign to his condition as "rural youth" and if they are the same senses that give the agents of the state in the public policies of youth. from the analysis and interpretations realized, arises the category of "rural youth" including as life project, and in this category emerges, in turn, the subcategories of "social perentorium" and "rural social moratorium", subject to its consolidation through future research.

Abstract: index of neurosciences papers published in cuba. preliminary report some elements related to the history of neurosciences in cuba and to its institutionalization since the triumph of the revolution as an expression of its evolution and true development are offered. the importance of the bibliographic compilations as points of reference to know the scientific production of researchers and its particular significance in the neurology and neurosurgery fields is explained. the current state of a research that is carried out with the aim of grouping in a printed volume and in a bibliographic database all the literature about neurosciences published by cuban specialists since the first half of the xix century till our days is given.

Abstract: first cuban publications on psychiatry a brief exposition is made on the situation of psychiatrist patients in cuba from the colonial times up to the beginning of the second half of the 19th century when the first actions towards a more or less systematic care of these persons were taken. the paper mentions the first paper published about this discipline in the island, the most ancient cuban original study on this subject and other related publications that came out between the end of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century. finally, there is a brief analysis of the contents of the book entitled "tratado de alineacion mental"(mental alienation treatise), published in 1863 in havana, which is the first among the most complete works written about this subject at the time of spanish domination.

Abstract: the content of the small collection of la emulacion medica magazine, perpetuator of el eco de paris is examined as a publication conceived at the beginning of the second half of the 19 th century to satisfy the information needs of the medical students. to this end, an analytic index with the references of the 71 works divulged in this second cuban student magazine is presented, arranged in the same order in which each one of its scarce nine issues was published. the auxiliary author and subject indexes are also registered as part of this bibliographical inventory to facilitate the search.

Abstract: antecedents and evolution of the literature production related to children diseases at international scale are exposed. the first articles edited in cuba on this theme are identified appeared at the end of the xviii century in the papel periódico de la habana, pioneer in these periodic national publications. a brief analysis of the first cuban book content, completely dedicated to this matter is done, and other materials with similar characteristics that appeared after the colony period are disclosed. other documentary modalities part of the group conforming the precursor literature of paediatrics in the island are presented, among them the first thesis defended by cuban students opting by the doctor in medicine degree in the university of paris, the first journals articles and the first papers seen in a scientific event in the country. finally, some distinctive features regarding to the revista cubana de pediatría history, dean of the national scientific publications in the health sciences, are specified.

Abstract: when one glances through the endless book of history and reads about the lives and actions of persons with great merits for their perseverance and dedication, the luminous trail they leave behind causes pleasant admiration. thera are plenty of examples of human beings, who, in the course of time, have made unforgettable achievements with which they have conquered the glory. nevertheless, it is very sad to leaf through this book about someone very close that also deserves to reach posterity and getting to the first blank page after having turned numerous written pages. the recent death of dr. josé lópez sánchez has left the iciest empty space among his colleagues and disciples, and the grief of an irreparable and regrettable loss in the institutions where he worked. overwhelmed by the painful impression caused by his death , the author of this paper tries to approach his work as a publicist and biblographer, as well as his contributions, paying a modest homage to his memory from the perspective of the information sciences

Abstract: obstetrics is defined and characterized as a present medical specialty and as an art exercised by man since ancient times. references are offered on the documentary sources that constitute the first written testimonies of this practice at the international level before christ and up to the first years of the xix century. the actions linked to the art of assisting women in childbirth among cuban aborigines are identified and classic works on the discipline produced in cuba or by cuban authors in other nations during the colonial period are reported in the style of factual information. finally, a brief account of the history of the revista cubana de obstetricia y ginecología as an instrument of dissemination of the scientific society bearing the same name is made from its upsurge up to now. its founder members are mentioned. this article intends to help the doctors and information professionals, mainly the obstetricians and librarians who work in institutions dedicated to the beautiful activity of bringing children into the world, by providing the first with a useful reference work for the assistance, research and teaching activity, and the latter with a work of aggregate value to support the rendering of higher quality services.

Abstract: information related to the contribution of dr. nicolas josé gutiérrez hernández to the progress of medical sciences in cuba , in general, and of surgery, in particular, during the 19th century is offered, giving a special emphasis to his contribution to the national medical bibliography. a critical analysis of the content of the book “breve manual de medicina operatoria dispuesto en lecciones para el curso del a?o 1839” (brief manual of operative medicine arranged in lessons for the course of 1839) prepared by doctor gutiérrez for its utilization as a basic text for the first course of operative medicine taught by him in havana, is made. it is stressed the importance of the work as a resource that allowed to free surgery from the backwardness in which it was in the island, and as a bibliographical relic for being the first cuban book devoted to the teaching of this discipline
