Lima Nogueira,Antonio Carlos; Bataglia,Walter;
Journal of technology management & innovation , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-27242012000100011
Abstract: this article deals with the influence of transaction costs and organizational competences on the choice of governance structure for manufacturing stage in a productive system. the objective is to develop a conceptual model that explains the choice of supplier for manufacturing through transaction costs and organizational competences. following earlier studies, the model proposes competences of the product′s owner influence the vertical scope in a relation moderated by transaction costs. the constructs in the model are: “governance structure”, the dependent variable categorized as internal or external supplier, “transaction costs”, measured by asset specificity of the product and bargain power of the firm in the manufacturing stage, and “competences on operations”, measured by experience and diversification of the firm. the study presents some methodological implications for applying the model in brazilian pharmaceutical industry, through searching for secondary data on drugs and firms in a public database of the federal regulatory agency.

Papéis Avulsos de Zoologia (S?o Paulo) , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0031-10492008000300001
Abstract: frugivorous bats are fundamental components in the maintenance and regeneration of tropical forests since they promote the mobility of the fruit seeds. there are controversies about the effects of the seed passage through the bat gut in the germination tax and speed. the goal of this work was to investigate the diet of frugivorous bat species at esta??o experimental de itirapina to find out which species significantly use the fruits of the pioneer plants species cecropia pachystachya. it was tested the importance of bats on the spread and germination of seeds from this plant species. for that, the bats were captured in the period from august 2005 to july 2006, their feces were collected and the seeds of c. pachystachya separated. the germination tests were made for two bat species, artibeus liuratus and platyrrhinus lineatus, and were compared with seeds collected directly from the plant (control). five repetitions were made with 30 seeds in each gerbox for each test. the tests were conducted in " mangelsdorf" germinators chambers, with temperature of 25°c, luminosity and constant humidity for 40 days. there was a high germination percentage of the seeds found in a. lituratus (79,3%), and it did not differ statistically from the seeds control (76%). these results were superior from p. lineatus (52%). regarding the germination speed index (ivg), the results were similar, being 2,73 for a. lituratus, 2,66 for the control seeds and 1,80 for p. lineatus. it was concluded that the passage of the seeds of c. pachystachya through the bats gut did not increase the percentage or the speed of germination, when compared with the control seeds, being smaller for p. lineatus. with the results obtained, it was concluded that the effects of the bats? gut passage in the germination still needs further studies but the benefits of seed dispersion of c. pachystachya promoted by four bat species in the studied place cannot be refused.

Abstract: The need for an instrument to support the environmental licensing of the mining activity held in the Sorocaba river watershed State of S o Paulo, led the Geological Institute to develop, in partnership with the Environmental Company of State of S o Paulo – CETESB, a computational tool able to perform the input, edition, queries and visualization of the mining companies data. The aim of this tool is to provide a regional analysis to the licensing agency favoring the identification and evaluation of critical areas and related potential conflicts, according to criteria of densification, environmental degradation, commitment of water resources, proximity to urban areas and conservation units. This paper expresses the activity in the region and describes the structures and main features of the Geographic Information System. The development of GIS, designed in a client–server environment, mainly comprised its modeling and database organization, developed from information assessment in the CETESB’s environmental agencies of Itu, Botucatu and Sorocaba and involved the preparation and edition of several thematic maps. The developed and now being implemented system allows the user to access and interact with a georeferenced database of mining enterprises and licensing activities, mining supervision and control in the area of the watershed that may be extended to other environmental agencies of the State of S o Paulo.
