Establecimiento de un protocolo de permeabilización con detergentes que incrementa la eficiencia en la producción de betacianinas en cultivos de células de Beta vulgaris L

Abstract: red beet (beta vulgaris l.) cell suspensions were permeabilized by means of four chemical detergent agents, tween 20, 40 and 80, and triton x-100?, to evaluate the recovery of betacianins (bc). the permeabilizating agent was selected as a function of the quantity of bc released and the contact time. betacianin concentration was measured using digital color image analysis. the results showed that 36% of betacianins was released using triton x-100? (0.7mm) during 10min; using these extraction conditions, the viability remained at 60-70%. this treatment allowed a second growing-cycle, as well as, an additional accumulation of betacianins.

Abstract: In this work, morphology of Beta vulgaris L. cells permeabilized with 0.7mM of Triton X-100 was evaluated using digital image processing and concepts of fractal dimension (perimeter- area relations). Important morphometric changes were found when the contact-time with chemical agent was increased. The size of cells decreased, the cells lost the roundness and their shape was more sinuous; this behaviour was a result of a probable shrinkage caused by the excess of exposure with the permeabilization agent. Morphology of B. vulgaris cells after permeabilization, exhibited a fractal nature since the slope of the ratio of the logarithm of the perimeter vs logarithm of the area was higher than unit. Fractal geometry of the cell morphology was affected as a result of the exposure to Triton X-100 . Those changes can be attributed to the loss of turgor and structure of the cell wall.

Abstract: El cempasúchil (Tagetes erecta L.) es una planta originaria de México y sus flores acumulan carotenoides, principalmente luteína. Los pigmentos del cempasúchil se utilizan como aditivos en la elaboración de alimentos para aves, peces y crustáceos, y así mejorar el aspecto de éstos para el consumo humano. Existen estudios en los que se relacionan a los carotenoides con la prevención de algunas enfermedades oculares asociadas con la edad, como las cataratas y la degeneración macular, los cuales han producido resultados interesantes y han promovido el avance en otras áreas del conocimiento relacionadas con estos compuestos, como el mejoramiento de los carotenoides para su utilización en alimentos de consumo común, a través del uso de técnicas de ingeniería genética.

Abstract: Los carotenoides son pigmentos fotosensibles frente a un exceso de intensidad luminosa durante el proceso de fotosíntesis. El objetivo de este trabajo fue el estudio del efecto en el desarrollo de la planta y la acumulación de carotenoides por la exposición a dos diferentes intensidades lumínicas (con y sin malla de sombra al 50%). Se evaluó el desarrollo de T. erecta en cuanto a la altura de la planta, número de botones florales y el diámetro de las lígulas. Adicionalmente, en las lígulas se cuantificaron e identificaron los carotenoides por HPLC. Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas (p 0.05) en cuanto al desarrollo de las plantas expuestas a mayor radiación UV y temperatura, presentaron reducción del diámetro de las lígulas y disminución en el contenido de Xantófilas totales ( luteína y zeaxantina) con respecto a las cultivadas con malla,. La ultraestructura de los plastidios mostró mayor cantidad de membranas tilacoidales y gránulos de almidón más conspicuos en las células de las plantas de T erecta desarrolladas con malla.

Abstract:

In this article, we prove that if B is a simple binary-Lie superalgebra whose even part is isomorphic to sl2(F) ?and whose odd part is a completely reducible binary-Lie-module over the even part, then B is a Lie superalgebra. We introduce also a binary-Lie module over which is sl2(F) not completely reducible.

Study on the Antioxidant Activity of Grape Stems (Vitis vinifera). A Preliminary Assessment of Crude Extracts  [PDF]

Abstract: The antioxidant activity of 80% ethanol and 70% acetone extracts of stems from red and white grapes (Vitis vinifera) used in wine industry were evaluated to determine their feasibility as natural antioxidants. The results showed that all grape stem extracts were rich in total polyphenolic compounds and flavanols and had clear antioxidant activities. The free radical-scavenging capacity of the extracts was determined using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. The extracts obtained from red grape stem present EC50 values of 0.14 g dm/g DPPH (acetone extract) and 0.20 g dm/g DPPH (ethanol extract) while the extracts obtained from white grape stem present EC50 values of 0.26 g dm/g DPPH (acetone extract) and 0.37 g dm/g DPPH (ethanol extract). There are significant correlations between the total content of polyphenols and the antioxidant activity (R2 = 0.9352) and between the flavanols content and the antioxidant activity (R2 = 0.9404) of the grape stem extracts obtained.

Abstract: The provision of services as e-commodities and the wide use of networked business models have driven buyer experience to new heights. Innovation, coupled with quality is the competitive advantage e-commerce vendors strive to achieve when designing or re-designing their software. In terms of quality, evaluation stood in the spotlight for many years. However, software analysis and design based on quality models have been used mostly for understanding, rather than improving. In this work, we present a new model for the analysis and design of e-commerce software systems mapped to the software life-cycle process. Quality control procedures are mapped to every phase, from initiation and design to delivery. Based on current ISO standards such as ISO25000 series, this work discusses technical and managerial principles that need to be applied in order to obtain quality e-commerce software.

Abstract: passion fruit (passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa degener) is a tropical fruit well known for its distinctive flavor. the responsible components for this flavor are developed during ripening as a result of the increase in metabolic activity. in this work, co2 production and color development were evaluated as markers of ripening. also the activities of a-amylase, polygalacturonase (pg) and pectinmethylesterase (pme) were determinated, in relation to the presence of different responsible components (like soluble solids, sugar, organic acids and ph) for the flavor of this fruit. the results show that fruit ripening continued after separation from the plant at week 8 after anthesis (aa). the activity of a-amylase and pg increased during week 9 aa and that of pg increased again after fruit development. that of pme also had two maxima, at weeks 8 and 11 aa. the results show that the increase in the activity of the enzymes is asociated with the ripening of the fruit indicated by the increase in co2 production and color rise, and generate an increase on sugars and organic acids, some of which could be responsible for the characteristic flavor of passion fruit.
El cambio climático y su impacto en el agro

Abstract: the debate on the effects and impacts of climate change has intensified in recent years. globally, it is considered as a threat, not only from the environmental point of view but also socially and economically, because of its possible impact on different sectors, including agriculture, which is one of the most vulnerable. understanding the potential impacts is essential for developing and implementing adaptation strategies, which are required to manage emerging risks related to climate. this article, drawn from a review of recent scientific literature on climate change, provides an overview of the impact of climate change on agriculture, and considers expected effects on water resources and explores the challenges and opportunities for adaptation. it concludes that risk assessment is a key factor in reducing agriculture vulnerability to climate change.
Nota sobre la presencia de portulaca rubricaulis H.B.K. (Portulacaceae) en la península de Yucatán

Abstract: Portulaca rubricaulis H.B.K. es una especie que se distribuye principalmente en la zona del Mar Caribe, desde Florida hasta la parte norte de Sudamérica, y de la cual se tenían escasos registros como integrante de la flora de la Península de Yucatán. No obstante, la revisión de los herbarios mexicanos CICY, ENCB, MEXU, UCAM y XAL puso de manifiesto que esta especie se encuentra ampliamente distribuida y bien colectada en la parte septentrional de la zona de estudio. Aún más, se detectó material proveniente de la porción suroeste del estado de Campeche, lo cual posiblemente indique que P. rubricaulis esté efectuando un movimiento de dispersión del norte de la Península hacia las costas sure as del Golfo de México. Adicionalmente, en el presente trabajo se anexa una clave de identificación para las especies conocidas de Portulaca de la Península de Yucatán.
