Homotopy type of symplectomorphism groups of S^2 X S^2
Silvia Anjos
Mathematics , 2000, DOI: 10.2140/gt.2002.6.195
Abstract: In this paper we discuss the topology of the symplectomorphism group of a product of two 2-dimensional spheres when the ratio of their areas lies in the interval (1,2]. More precisely we compute the homotopy type of this symplectomorphism group and we also show that the group contains two finite dimensional Lie groups generating the homotopy. A key step in this work is to calculate the mod 2 homology of the group of symplectomorphisms. Although this homology has a finite number of generators with respect to the Pontryagin product, it is unexpected large containing in particular a free noncommutative ring with 3 generators.
Lideran?a de mulheres em pastorais e comunidades católicas e suas retribui??es
Anjos, Gabriele dos;
Cadernos Pagu , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-83332008000200021
Abstract: this paper covers the militancy of popular class women within mothers' clubs, ecclesiastical communities and pastorals of the catholic church. such militancy implies a differentiation between "leaders" and the other participants. this differentiation is defined by specific motivations and interests related to the commitment and militancy as "leader" in these forms of association. these motivations and interests can be understood by analyzing the rewards for militant activities and their relationships with the exercise of leadership and with the meanings associated with militant action.
Cabo Verde e a importa??o do ideologema brasileiro da mesti?agem
Anjos, José Carlos dos;
Horizontes Antropológicos , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-71832000001400008
Abstract: this article intends to reveal the relationships between the intellectual's point of view and the controversy over the national identity of cape verde and the arguments over it's definition. up until the first two decades of the 20th century xx the intellectuals regarded africa as a sleep potion, africa objected to the colonization of the portuguese people. therefore a new atlantic identity emerged, competitive to the portuguese colonization. africa appeared for the intellectuals as asleep potency, the portuguese colonization was objected partially and an atlantic identity emerged competitive to the portuguese identity. the racialization of that atlantic identity under the brazilian point of view and the hegemony of that identity statement in the archipelago takes place in the decade of thirty under the political silence imposed by the regime of salazar. after the discussion on the effects of that political censorship on the autonomy of the literature in cape verde the article suggests that identities (african, mestizos, creole, european) argued in transcontinental level and strategies transatlantic geo-politics have acquired unexpected senses in this contexts.
Species richness and relative abundance of birds in natural and anthropogenic fragments of Brazilian Atlantic forest
Anjos, Luiz dos;
Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0001-37652004000200036
Abstract: bird communities were studied in two types of fragmented habitat of atlantic forest in the state of paraná, southern brazil; one consisted of forest fragments that were created as a result of human activities (forest remnants), the other consisted of a set of naturally occurring forest fragments (forest patches). using quantitative data obtained by the point counts method in 3 forest patches and 3 forest remnants during one year, species richness and relative abundance were compared in those habitats, considering species groups according to their general feeding habits. insectivores, omnivores, and frugivores presented similar general tendencies in both habitats (decrease of species number with decreasing size and increasing isolation of forest fragment). however, these tendencies were different, when considering the relative abundance data: the trunk insectivores presented the highest value in the smallest patch while the lowest relative abundance was in the smallest remnant. in the naturally fragmented landscape, time permitted that the loss of some species of trunk insectivores be compensated for the increase in abundance of other species. in contrast, the remnants essentially represented newly formed islands that are not yet at equilibrium and where future species losses would make them similar to the patches.
Prevalência das doen?as do comportamento alimentar
Dixe,Maria dos Anjos;
Análise Psicológica , 2007,
Abstract: the goals of this study is: a) to evaluate the prevalence of eating disorders in a non-clinic population of students; b) to identify the group at risk in this population. methodology: in order to accomplish the goals we conducted a non experimental, transversal, correlational quantitative study. the population for this study is composed by 1388 high school and undergraduate students from the central area of portugal. all students filled in an anonymous questionnaire, consisting of socio-demographic, recent weight history, dsm iv criterion for bulimia and anorexia and edi 1. outcome: in accordance with the dsm iv criterion, we found no case of anorexia. in the case of the girls of the first group (14-17 years) we found 3.4% of partial situations of restrictive anorexia probable cases and 6.3% cases of bulimia. in the case of the older girls (18-25 years), we identified 1.4% of partial situations of anorexia and 3.4% of bulimia. in the case of the boys of the first group (14-17 years), we found 1.1% of sub-clinical situations of anorexia and 3.5% of bulimia. with the older boys (18-25 years) the values are slightly lower: we didn?t find any situations of partial anorexia and found only 0.6% behaviours that can be framed as situations of bulimia.
Feeding ecology of a nocturnal invasive alien lizard species, Hemidactylus mabouia Moreau de Jonnès, 1818 (Gekkonidae), living in an outcrop rocky area in southeastern Brazil
Rocha, CFD.;Anjos, LA.;
Brazilian Journal of Biology , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-69842007000300013
Abstract: we studied in fieldwork, the feeding ecology of a hemidactylus mabouia population from southeastern brazil throughout one year in a region with marked climatic seasonality. a sampling of availability of arthropods in the environment was carried out, which evidenced that the availability of food resources influenced the composition of the diet of h. mabouia. there were no seasonal differences on diet composition, which may be due to the relatively constant availability on prey throughout the year. in general, this population can be classified as generalist and opportunistic regarding diet. there was a high food niche overlap among juveniles and adults, although juvenile lizards tend to eat higer number of prey (but in lower volume) when compared to adult lizards. the ability to exploit a wide array of prey in an efficient way, maintaining a positive energetic balance, may be a factor determining the efficiency of this exotic species to occupy invaded areas.

Análise preliminar das manifesta??es sonoras e do habitat de Picumnus nebulosus Sundevall (Aves, Picidae)
Anjos, Luiz dos;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81751999000200009
Abstract: observations and recordings of picumnus nebulosus sundevall, 1866 were carried out at santa rita farm (21o15's, 50o00'), municipality of palmeira, state of paraná, southern brazil, from 1984 to 1991. the song of this species (0.25 s to 0.64 s total time) is composed by a series of four to six high pitched (6.3 to 7.8 khz) and short (0.03 to 0.05 s) notes (n=23). the fight call is a series of very short notes emitted between 2 to 8 khz during 0.23 s to 0.32 s (n=34). the drum, a sequence of pulses, is emitted during 3.5 to 7.2 s (n=42); the four sequences in the begining are composed by four pulses and the rest by three pulses. p. nebulosus was more abundant in forest patches than in continuous forest. it was usually watched foraging in branches 1 to 4 mm diameter at mid-level; foraging in bamboo, the most common habitat cited in the literature, was registered in less than 10% of the observations.
Maternidade, cuidados do corpo e "civiliza??o" na Pastoral da Crian?a
Anjos, Gabriele dos;
Revista Estudos Feministas , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2007000100003
Abstract: this paper is an analysis of how the pastoral da crian?a (children's pastoral), organization of the catholic church, seeks to define women's identities by disseminating practices related to the use and care of the body. the techniques utilized to examine and care for the body found in the handbooks of the pastoral da crian?a are used to develop women's self-identification as mothers among the women seen by the service and the "líderes" (leaders) as educators. this work enables the pastoral da crian?a to present an ideology opposed to feminist activities and compete with the later in government spheres in which policies related to the use of the body are defined.
índices antropométricos e estado nutricional de escolares de baixa renda de um município do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Brasil): um estudo piloto
Anjos,Luiz Antonio dos;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 1989, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-89101989000300007
Abstract: the growth and nutritional status of 185 school-aged children (97 boys and 88 girls) of low socio-economic level in nova igua?ú, state of rio de janeiro, brazil, were studied. nutritional anthropometry identified 3.52 and 6.25% of the children as suffering from wasting and stunting, respectively. these prevalences of malnutrition were comparable to those described in pre-school children living in a "favela" (shanty town) of rio de janeiro. in general, the median height fell below the 25th centile of the international standard of growth. the value of 10 year-old boys fell below the 10th centile. the mean values of weight and height of these children were comparable to those of children from the northeastern region of brazil ("nordeste"), higher than those found for children in the state of paraíba, brazil, and lower than those for middle-class children of the state of s. paulo. skinfold thickness, arm circunference, and arm fat area data were higher in girls than boys. however, arm muscle are values in boys were superior in comparison to those of girls.
