Universitas Psychologica , 2012,
Abstract: The aim of this study was to build and evaluate the psychometric proper- ties of a scale to assess factors related to adherence in patients with can- cer. In a sample of 120 patients from the Oncology Service from Hospital Clínico Regional de Antofagasta, we applied the questionnaire developed and previously validated in a pilot sample in similar patients. The internal consistency and factor structure of the questionnaire, and the relationship between the dimensions was assessed. According to the results, the scale has an alpha greater than 0.9, both overall and in various dimensions, and a factor structure consistent with the theoretical factors chosen. The research concluded that the scale is constructed can become a useful prognostic tool for use in cancer patients.

Revista de la construcción , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-915X2011000100008
Abstract: the theory of the bid rent is prevalent in the urban economy, establishing a trade-off between transport costs and income that is transferred to the ground, so that the greater the distance between a point system urban and cbd, the lower the income transferred to the ground. however, this theory in its original sense, the assumption of a monocentric, in which all jobs are located in the center, a paradigm, therefore, far from the present. this article aims to: 1) a set of methods for detecting sub-employment, 2) test the extent to which they exert an influence on the real value of their environment. since employment data from the metropolitan area of barcelona (rmb) and residential values were detected between 15 and 26 municipalities as potential subcentres; from here, using a hedonic price model, is tested on the influence of these the spatial distribution of the value of housing. the results highlight the presence of problems multicolinealidad meantime, the distance to the cbd and subcenters some correlation. however, the model built from subcentres detected by the negative exponential function minimizes this problem and will validate, in a polycentric theory of income offered.
Os coletores de lixo urbano no município de Dourados (MS) e sua percep??o sobre os riscos biológicos em seu processo de trabalho

Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232011000900011
Abstract: there are several occupational risks inherent to urban garbage collection, and the scope of this study was to identify the biological risks to which urban garbage collectors in dourados/ms are exposed. a qualitative study using the lefévre and lefévre collective subject discourse method was used with 42 urban garbage collectors working for the outsourced provider to the municipal department of urban services. data were collected from september 2005 to january 2006. the interviews had an average duration of 40 minutes, and were recorded at the company office when the workers arrived to start their working day and subsequently transcribed. the biological risks mentioned by the garbage pickers were accidents with glass, syringes, thorns, dog bites, and contact with substances found in the garbage. accidents with sharp and jagged instruments are ways for microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi to infect the human body. virus contamination, like hiv and hepatitis b and c, can occur in accidents involving inadequate disposal of contaminated needles. the conclusion reached is that biological risks in urban garbage collection can be reduced by educating the population about adequate garbage disposal.

La visualización en los primeros ciclos de la educación básica. Posibilidades y complejidad
Gustavo Marmolejo
Revista Sigma , 2011,
Abstract: This paper attempts to attract attention about the complexity that is seeing in the geometric figures, matter that is far from being obvious and spontaneous for our students, even for some of their educators. Equally, it proposes to highlight the opportunities in the learning of the mathematics for students who have studied the heuristic possibilities that the figures offer in the understanding of mathematical tasks.

Química Nova , 1998,
Abstract: In this work we describe the synthesis and characterization of chalcogenide glass (0.3La2S3-0.7Ga2S 3) with low phonons frequencies. Several properties were measured like Sellmeier parameters, linear refractive index dispersion and material dispersion. Samples with the composition above were doped with Dy2S3. The absorption and emission characteristics were measured by electronic spectroscopy and fluorescence spectrum respectively. Raman and infrared spectroscopy shows that these glasses present low phonons frequencies and strucuture composed by GaS4 tetrahedrals. The Lines model was used for calculate the coefficients values of the non linear refractive index.
Modelling the Impact of Stages of HIV Progression on Estimates  [PDF]
Angelina Mageni Lutambi
Advances in Infectious Diseases (AID) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/aid.2015.53012
Abstract: HIV/AIDS is a public health problem especially in sub-Saharan Africa where majority of infections and deaths occur. Despite the large number of studies and efforts made in covering the data gap using mathematical models, little is known on how model estimates are confounded by the transmission variabilities that exist in stages of HIV progression. This work investigates the impact of including stages of HIV transmission in HIV/AIDS models. A deterministic HIV/AIDS model is developed and extended to include stages of HIV progression of infected individuals. Theoretical investigation of the models and numerical analyses indicate that the two models produce different estimates, with the model without stages producing lower estimates than the staged model. These results call for a careful consideration in evaluating the efficiency of HIV/AIDS models that are used to estimate and project the burden of HIV/AIDS disease.
Ochratoxin A in Portugal: A Review to Assess Human Exposure
Sofia C. Duarte,Angelina Pena,Celeste M. Lino
Toxins , 2010, DOI: 10.3390/toxins2061225
Abstract: In Portugal, the climate, dietary habits, and food contamination levels present the characteristics for higher population susceptibility to ochratoxin A (OTA), one of the known mycotoxins with the greatest public health and agro-economic importance. In this review, following a brief historical insight on OTA research, a summary of the available data on OTA occurrence in food (cereals, bread, wine, meat) and biological fluids (blood, urine) is made. With this data, an estimation of intake is made to ascertain and update the risk exposure estimation of the Portuguese population, in comparison to previous studies and other populations.

Abstract: Learning of the English grammar has always been a challenging task particularly for students at the national-type schools in Malaysia. Often, these learners are not competent as they do not communicate in English language except during their English lessons merely because English is not their first language. Hence, it is the responsibility of the teachers to prepare appropriate grammar resources to gauge the varying needs of students with different learning styles. This paper therefore seeks to share with classroom practitioners several tested workable grammar activities using “throw-away” materials to help learners overcome their inhibitions in learning grammar. The results indicated that such teaching approach was indeed an effective strategy which brought about a “stress-free” environment and help build learners’ self-confidence in learning English grammar. This paper would be handy to ESL teachers who crave for creativity and innovation in their pedagogical approach.
