Engenharia Ambiental : Pesquisa e Tecnologia , 2009,
Abstract: The beneficial effects of the fertilization with silicon have been researched in several species, among them the sugarcane. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of silicate on the micronutrients of sugarcane leaves. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse conditions, using a Red-Yellow Argissoil and the calcium and magnesium silicate waste as silicon source. The experimental design used was the completely randomized one, in factorial outline (5x2) with five silicate doses (0; 2.5; 5.0; 10.0 and 15.0 g pot-1) and two cultivars of sugarcane (RB72454 and SP791011), with four replications. After ninety days of budding emission, the cut of the plants was made for analysis of micronutrients (Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn) and silicon (Si) concentrations in the leaves. The varieties presented distinct behavior in relation to the absorption of diverse nutrients. It was observed increase in the Si leaf concentrations, while Fe leaf concentrations decreased with the application of silicate into the soil. The RB72454 variety accumulates more Si compared to the SP791011 variety.
Influence of siderurgical slag about gaseous changes and production of biomass of sugarcane

Engenharia Ambiental : Pesquisa e Tecnologia , 2009,
Abstract: The experiment was installed in greenhouse, using one of the most representative soils of the state of Ceará, Brazil, for sugarcane crop, a Red-Yellow Argissoil. The main goal of this research was to evaluate the influence of silicon in the gas exchange and production of biomass of sugarcane cultivars in sandy loam soil. It was used a completely randomized in 5x2 factorial scheme with five silicon doses: 0; 2.5; 5.0; 10.0 and 15.0 g per pot-1 of siderurgical slag, two cultivars of sugarcane and four repetitions. The siderurgical slag (calcium and magnesium silicato) used containing 11% of soluble SiO2. It was evaluated the silicon level in the leaf, the production of dry matter of the aerial part, the relative growth rate of the plant, the water use efficiency, transpiration and conductance of the leaf. The results showed increase in concentration of Si in leaf with the application of the silicon; practically no influence in growth and physiological characteristics of the plants.Key-words: Argissoil, calcium, greenhouse, sugarcane.

Engenharia Ambiental : Pesquisa e Tecnologia , 2009,
Abstract: The beneficial effects of manuring with siderurgical slag has been researched in several species, mainly among grassy such as sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.). The experiment was installed in the field, using one of the most representative sugarcane soils of Alagoas State, was cultivated in Dystrophic AGREY ARGISSOIL. The siderurgical slag source was containing 11% of soluble SiO2. The objective this research was quantify foliate micronutrients in the sugarcane and pH of soil due siderurgical slag application submitted the different irrigation water in S o Sebasti o city. For such the design was band of randomizered blocks, with five doses of siderurgical slags (band) and five water (sub band) and four repetitions. The analyzed variables were the micronutrients concentrations (Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn) in the leaf. The slag application increased the concentrations significantly foliate of Zn while concentrations of Cu and Fe decreased. The foliate concentration of Mn, in the interaction of slag and irrigation water, it decreased in the cane plants and first it would beat, when the factor was slag inside of irrigation water however, when the factor was sheets inside of slag, there was increase of the concentration this element us of the cycles. The foliate concentration of Mn, due the interactive effect of slag and irrigation water, decreased in the first cut. However, when the factor was irrigation water inside of slag, there was increase of concentration of this in the two cycles.

Engenharia Ambiental : Pesquisa e Tecnologia , 2009,
Abstract: The geostatistics is an important tool in analysis and description of soil variability properties. The maps of productivity are considered an excellent tool for analysis of performance at the level of agricultural property. Objective was to analyze the spatial yield variability of soybean in no-tillage e conventional-tillage. The experiment was carried out in two plots in sampling points defined accordingly to grid with dimension of 40 x 55 m, totaling 44 points spaced 5m. Statistical and geostatistical analysis were performed to monitor the range of spatial variability and spatial dependence. Soybean yield didn't present spatial dependence in none systems. The management in conventional-tillage was decisive in increase the yield of soybean in relation to no-tillage.Key-words: geostatistic; spatial dependence; management soil.
Beyond the ethnic strategies: business tactics of immigrants as creative and dynamic processes Más allá de las estrategias étnicas: tácticas empresariales de inmigrantes como procesos creativos y dinámicos
Catarina Andreia Reis de Oliveira
Revista Internacional de Organizaciones , 2009,
Abstract: This article proposes and presents a heuristic model of business strategies which considers the diverse tactics adopted by immigrants and the limits of the generalizations regarding immigrant strategies. The model is tested and explained using data collected for empirical comparative research into Chinese, Indian and Cape Verdean entrepreneurs living in Portugal. The article tries to show the diversity and complexity of the business strategies adopted by immigrants.

Simple Method for Ontology Automatic Extraction from Documents
Andreia Dal Ponte Novelli,José Maria Parente de Oliveira
International Journal of Advanced Computer Sciences and Applications , 2013,
Abstract: There are many situations where it is needed to represent and analyze the concepts that describe a document or a collection of documents. One of such situations is the information retrieval, which is becoming more complex by the growing number and variety of document types. One way to represent the concepts is through a formal structure using ontologies. Thus, this article presents a fast and simple method for automatic extraction of ontologies from documents or from a collections of documents that is independent of the document type and uses the junction of several theories and techniques, such as latent semantic for the extraction of initial concepts, Wordnet and similarity to obtain the correlation between the concepts

Saul bellow's henderson, the rain king — a coming to terms with his self and with the world around Saul bellow's henderson, the rain king — a coming to terms with his self and with the world around
Myrian Vieira B. de Oliveira
Ilha do Desterro , 2008,
Abstract: As the plot focuses on Henderson, our starting point wil be a presentation of his most important characteristics, so we can better understand the developing of the action. Henderson, at the age of fifty-five, is not a happy man. Although he has a nice wife and kids, plenty of money and time to enjoy life and its pleasures, he thinks he has made a mess of his life. Physically, he describes himself as "six feet four inches tall. Two hundred and thirty pounds - An enormous head, rugged, with hair like Persian lamb's fur. Suspicious eyes, usually narrowed. Blustering ways. A great nose" (p.8). His appearance is, to say the least, remarkable. And he made it still more remarkable by the kind of clothes he liked to wear. He is a person who requires " large and real emotions" (p. 25) and that is why he was happy when he was in the war; /the civilian life bored him. Although he is always quarreling and many times "behaved like a bum", he wants to belong, to be accepted. On p. 256, when he's telling about one of his experiences with king Dahfu, what kind of words came instinctively from his mouth? "and certain words crept into my roars, like "God", "Help", "Lord Have Mercy"... plus snatches from the Messiah (he was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows, etcetera". He feels there is a similarity between the Messiah and himself. Another aspect of his contradictory personality is the combination of sensitivity and a taste for hard manual work. The same hands that have"thrown down boars and pinned them and gelded them" (p. 32) also played the violin. As the plot focuses on Henderson, our starting point wil be a presentation of his most important characteristics, so we can better understand the developing of the action.
