Abstract: A evapotranspira o (ETc) e o coeficiente de cultivo (Kc) s o parametros comumente utilizados na estimativa das necessidades hídricas de uma cultura para propiciar um melhor planejamento de projetos agrícolas. Este trabalho objetivou-se determinar a ETc e o Kc da bananeira cv “Pacovan Apodi”, utilizando o método do lisímetro de drenagem. O experimento foi conduzido na área experimental da agroempresa FRUTACOR, em Limoeiro do Norte-CE (05°06’S, 37°52’W, 151 m) no período de 21 de julho de 2007 a 19 de mar o de 2008. A cultura foi irrigada através de um sistema de irriga o por gotejamento, constando de cinco emissores por planta, vaz o nominal de 2,3 L h-1e PS (Press o de Servi o) 20 m.c.a. Alamina de água total consumida no 3o ciclo foi de 1.381,17 mm planta-1 (5,68 mm dia-1), num período de 243 dias. Os valores médios de Kc para os estádios de desenvolvimento da cultura foram de 0,92 (início), 1,07 (meio) e 0,98 (final).
Avalia o Qualitativa das águas Subterraneas para Irriga o na Regi o do Baixo Jaguaribe – Ceará

Abstract: O conhecimento da qualidade da água para irriga o em uma regi o na qual se pretende instalar mais de 50 mil ha irrigados será de grande importancia para a manuten o da sustentabilidade produtiva dos solos. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a qualidade das águas subterraneas para irriga o na regi o do Baixo Jaguaribe – Ceará. Coletaram-seamostras de águas subterraneas, provenientes de oito pontos de amostragem nos municípios de Aracati, Itai aba, Jaguaruana e Limoeiro do Norte. Foram realizadas coletas durante o período de abril a agosto de 2002 e analisadas no Laboratório de Solos, águas para Irriga o e Tecidos Vegetais do CENTEC Limoeiro do Norte, Ceará. Os parametros analisados foram: Cálcio (Ca2+), Magnésio (Mg2+), Sódio (Na+), Potássio (K+), Cloreto (Cl-), Carbonatos (CO-3), Bicarbonatos (HCO-3), Sulfato (SO4-2) e Condutividade elétrica (CEa). Utilizou-se o softwareQualigraf para realizar a classifica o das amostras pelo diagrama do Piper. Os resultados mostraram que 87,5% dos íons cátions foram predominados de águas sódicas e 47,5% dos anions se enquadraram em águas bicarbonatadas e cloretadas, porém de acordo com a classifica o geral predominaram as águas bicarbonatadas sódicas com 47,5%.

Abstract: A bananeira (Musa spp.) sob déficit hídrico poderá ocorrer significativa redu o na produtividade e na qualidade dos frutos, pois o déficit hídrico no período vegetativo afeta a taxa de desenvolvimento foliar, influenciando o número de flores e consequentemente o número de pencas e a produ o de frutos. Este estudo objetivou avaliar a qualidade póscolheita dos frutos da bananeira cv. Pacovan Apodi, no terceiro ciclo de produ o, sob diferentes laminas de irriga o nas condi es edafoclimáticas da chapada do Apodi – Ceará. O experimento foi conduzido na área experimental da agroempresa Frutacor (05° 06 S, 37o 52 W, 151 m) no período de julho/07 a junho/08. As laminas de irriga o corresponderam a 50, 75, 100, 125 e 150% da ETc do lisímetro de drenagem. A cultura foi irrigada através de um sistema de irriga o por gotejamento, constando de cinco emissores por planta, com vaz o nominal de 2,3 L h-1e PS de 20 m.c.a. Abstract: Diante da carência de informa es sobre laminas e doses de fertilizantes observa-se a necessidade de maiores investimentos em estudos que possam proporcionar um adequado manejo de água e uma maior eficiência por aplica o de nutrientes. Este estudo objetivou avaliar as concentra es de N, P e K nas folhas de bananeira cv. Pacovan Apodi sob diferentes doses de potássio nas condi es edafoclimáticas da Chapada do Apodi-CE. O experimento foi conduzido na área experimental da agroempresa FRUTACOR (05° 06’S, 37o 52’W, 151 m) no período de julho/07 a junho/08. As doses de potássio corresponderam a 0, 60, 140 e 200% da recomenda o pela análise do solo. A cultura foi irrigada através de um sistema de irriga o por gotejamento, constando de cinco emissores por planta, com vaz onominal de 2,3 L h-1e PS de 20 m.c.a. Através do software “SAEG 9.0–UFV” os dados foram submetidos à análise de variancia e posteriormente quando significativo pelo teste F, ao nível de 5% de probabilidade, à análise de regress o. As doses de potássio influenciaram significativamente (p<0,05) no teor de potássio nas folhas e os teores N e P n o foram influenciados pelos tratamentos.

Abstract: the enterolobium contortisiliquum (vell.) morong. is a tree of brazilian origin, occurring from north to south, from the family leguminosea-mimosoideae. the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different substrates on germination and seedling growth of tamboril. the treatments were: t1 - soil, t2 - soil + manure, t3 - soil + carbonized rice straw and t4 - soil + manure + carbonized rice straw. the evaluated variables included emergence percentage, emergence speed index, plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, weight of the fresh and dry matter on the aerial parts and weight of fresh and dry root. the experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments and five replications of 20 seeds. the emergence and the emergence speed index had better performance in substrates soil +manure and soil + carbonized rice straw. the characteristics of the seedlings growh at 120 days after sowing has positively influenced by the presence of manure in the composition of the substrate.
Características clínicas e citogenéticas da síndrome de Turner na regi?o Centro-Oeste do Brasil

Abstract: purpose: to examine the association between cytogenetic characteristics and clinical and epidemiological changes in patients with turner syndrome (ts). methods: forty-two patients were included. data were collected using a standardized questionnaire in interviews conducted with the responsible person and, when possible, with the patient. a detailed physical examination was performed. the association between karyotype, stigmata and clinical disorders were examined using the χ2 test. results: sixty-four percent of ts patients were 45,x; 26,2% 45,x/46,x;7% 45,x/46xi(xq), and 2,3% 45,x/46,x,del(xq). regardless of the karyotype, all patients had short stature. low hair implantation was more frequent in patients with 45,x (p=0.03). cardiovascular abnormalities (45%), otitis (43%), thyroid dysfunction (33%) and hypertension (26.6%) were the most frequent clinical disorders, but without correlation with the karyotype. anthropometric measurements revealed a positive linear correlation of waist and hip circumference with age (r=0.9, p=0.01). thirty-one patients (74%) were using or had previously used growth hormone (43%), sex steroids (30%), thyroxine (11.9%) or oxandrolone (9.5%). comparison between gestational age at birth and learning difficulties showed a prevalence ratio of 1.71 (p>0.05). conclusion: low hair implantation is the most prevalent stigma in patients with a 45,x karyotype and the most common clinical changes were cardiovascular problems, otitis, thyroid dysfunction and hypertension; however, they did not show any correlation with the karyotype.

Abstract: the anatomy of the embryo and the initial germination phase of o. minor seeds are examined here. ripe fruits were collected from five individuals, the pulp removed, and the seeds sown in beds with sandy substrate in a greenhouse with 50% shade. germination follow-up was made by collecting different stages of development. the anatomical study done according to usual techniques of light microscopy. the embryo is capitate and occupies a central position in the basal region of the seed. the embryogenic axis is located in the proximal region in a position that is oblique to the cotyledon axis. the cotyledon is formed by parenchymatous, procambial and protodermic tissue. the vascular bundles lie along the peripheral zone of the distal region to the embryogenicaxis. after 14 days, the primary rootemerges; after 21 days, the first cotyledon sheath and after 35 days, the second cotyledon sheath, and the seedling emerges above the substrate. germination is of the ligule adjacent type.
Produ??o de mudas de eucalipto com substratos para sistema de blocos

Abstract: the objective of this study was to determine mixtures of regional organic residues that present aggregation to the root system and make a good development possible for eucalyptus seedlings in block systems. residues of coconut fiber (fine fibers - fcf, long fibers - fcl and mixed fibers - fcm), eucalyptus bark (ce) and sugarcane filter cake (t) were used, with ten mixtures obtained. the blocks for the expansion tests were made in a steel form (11.5 x 2.3 cm), and afterwards moistening and evaluating for the volume and height increment. there was not a difference in the volume increment among the mixtures, and mixture 3 presented a larger increment in height than in mixture 8, however, they didn't differ from those remaining, with those chosen for use in the production of eucalyptus seedlings: fcm (40%) + t (60%); ce (60%)+ fcm (40%); ce (40%) + t (60%) and ce (40%) + t (30%) + fcm (30%). the choice was made in consideration of the component's readiness, because it did not differ in the tests. the eucalyptus urophylla seedlings were produced in 40x60x7cm trays, with 96 seedlings, sown directly in the blocks made with the selected mixtures pressed or not pressed. at 90 days the seedlings were evaluated for the diameter, height, shoot and root dry matter. in the expedition time, the substrata were evaluated as for the stability of the turf and the aggregation degree of the substrata to the seedlings roots. the nutritional analysis of the shoot seedlings was accomplished (n, p, k, ca, mg, mn, zn, fe). all the substrata presented aggregation and good stability. nutritional problems were not observed in the seedlings. for the production of eucalyptus urophylla seedlings in blocks with pressed substrata the substratum ce (60%) + fcm (40%) is recommended, and without being pressed the mixtures: ce (60%) + fcm (40%); ce (40%) + t (60%) and ce (40%) + t (30%) + fcm (30%) were recommended.
Outplanting performace of eucalyptus clonal cuttings produced in different containers and substrates

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the outplanting growth of eucalyptus grandis e e. saligna clones, produced by cuttings in tubes (50cm3) and in pressed blocks (40x60x07cm) - 175 cm3/ seedlings, with different substrates (bt - sugarcane bagasse+sugarcane filter cake; ar - carbonized rice hull + eucalyptus bark; tf - peat). the experiment was arranged in a randomized block design, in a 2x7 factorial (2 clones and 7 treatments), with four replicates with 25 plants. survival was evaluated two months later. plant growth was monitored through height and ground level diameter at 20, 40, 60, 120 and 180 days after outplanting. to evaluate the effect of the containers on stem and root biomass in both clones, 180 days after outplanting, the cuttings grown in bt substrate with fertilizer were selected. one plant per plot of each clone, grown in tubes and in pressed blocks was selected. the e. grandis and e. saligna cuttings grown in pressed blocks with sugarcane bagasse+sugarcane filter cake presented greater height and diameter after out planting. both clones presented larger root, bark, log and branch biomass production in plants produced in the block system. cuttings of e. saligna grown in pressed blocks showed 80% most wood biomass 180 days after outplanting, compared to that grown in tubes. in e. grandis, the differences in diameter and height, in function of the cutting production system, decreased along time, while in e. saligna these differences increased along the evaluation period.
Magnetic resonance spectroscopy in the diagnosis and etiological definition of brain bacterial abscesses

Abstract: we report two patients with bacterial brain abscesses whose etiological diagnosis was correctly proposed by association of diffusion weighted images (dwi) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (mrs) with conventional mri. both patients presented ring enhancing lesions with evidences of restricted diffusion. on mrs, the abscess caused by aerobic bacteria presented lactate and aminoacids peaks and the abscess caused by anaerobic facultative bacteria showed also acetate and succinate peaks. these results are in agreement with an unique previous study that related mrs pattern with bacterial etiology. conventional mri, associated with dwi and mrs is effective in diagnosing bacterial abscess and promising in exploring its etiology.
