d'Andréa, Carlos;
Ciência da Informa??o , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19652006000300004
Abstract: this paper presents the concepts that are important for the understanding, under the light of information science, of the specificities and potentiality of the electronic document in the hypertextual environment of the www. to achieve this, terms such as document, documentation chain and information unit are brought together to concepts that characterize the digital environment such as hypertextuality and information architecture. the ideas presented here are part of the studies developed for the dissertation "strategies for the creation and organization of information in the www: an analysis of touristic sites", presented in april of 2005 at the graduate program in information science of the school of information science of the federal university of minas gerais, main objective was to present a methodology for analysis of sites (not included in this paper) that takes into account the identification and understanding of the processes of creation and organization of information.
COLLABORATION, EDITING, TRANSPARENCY: Challenges and possibilities of a “wikification” of journalism
Carlos d'Andréa
Brazilian Journalism Research , 2009,
Abstract: This article discusses the possibilities and challenges of the incorporation of wikis in journalistic editorial offices, especially in the processes involving the drafting and editing of texts. The reflection takes into consideration a context marked by 1) continuous fragmented publication of information; 2) simplification and horizontal organization of journalistic routines, which directly impacts the figure of the editor (mainly in the media on the web); and 3 increasing public participation in the development of the news, with the mediation of professionals. “Wiki-journalism” practices on the Wikinews and Wikipedia sites and initiatives originating with print publications are presented and discussed, and based on them we distinguish two models, which differ in the degree of control of the process by the journalists.
WIKIPéDIA COMO UM SISTEMA ADAPTATIVO COMPLEXO: AUTO-ORGANIZA O E EMERGêNCIA NA PRODU O POR PARES
Mejía D,Andrés;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2005,
Abstract: it has been suggested that given the impossibility of constructing pedagogical theories that can predict with some reliability what will happen once some pedagogical strategy is applied, pedagogical research can only help teachers construct tacit knowledge. accepting this argument, but relegating it to the specific domain of scientific theories that seek to answer questions of the kind "what works in pedagogy?", or causal questions, this paper explores the possibility of doing research that attemtps to construct philosophical theories that respond to questions of the kind "what we do and what we get in pedagogy, what are they about?", and "what is derirable or right to do in pedagogical practive?" while both types of questions must be dealt with in pedagogical research, just like "what works?" questions, i will nevertheless conclude that research can only help construct theories that answer "what are things about?" questions. questions about norms or ethics have to be dealt with in the same manner as causal ones:working on particular local experiences, helping teachers to develop sophisticated capacities for reflection in support ot a flexible action. this kind of research is illustrated with an example.

The Role of Certification in the Brazilian Fruit Chain
Andréa Cristina D?RR
Annals of Dun?rea de Jos University. Fascicle I : Economics and Applied Informatics , 2008,
Abstract: Concerns about food safety and standards in the developed countries,particularly in Europe and the United States have made certification inevitable for worldwide fruit producers who target such export markets. The fact that certification is demanded by final consumers is increasingly making buyers, retailers and wholesalers buy certified products from the producers. For the fruitindustry in Brazil, certification has important consequences as it ensures access toexport markets. Using primary data obtained from interviews with 303 small,medium and large mango and grape producers in the regions of Juazeiro/BA andPetrolina/PE in Brazil, this paper aims at assessing the determinants of demand forcertification among mango and grape producers. Empirical analysis using a logitmodel shows that grapes farmers have higher likelihood for certification thanmango growers. The farmer’s education level and years of experience producingfruits are the major positive determinants for certification. The factors whichdecrease the chances to adopt certification are small size of the farm, nonagriculturalincome, awareness and trust type of arrangement.
Atom correlations and spin squeezing near the Heisenberg limit: finite system size effect and decoherence
A. André,M. D. Lukin
Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.65.053819
Abstract: We analyze a model for spin squeezing based on the so-called counter-twisting Hamiltonian, including the effects of dissipation and finite system size. We discuss the conditions under which the Heisenberg limit, i.e. phase sensitivity $\propto 1/N$, can be achieved. A specific implementation of this model based on atom-atom interactions via quantized photon exchange is presented in detail. The resulting excitation corresponds to the creation of spin-flipped atomic pairs and can be used for fast generation of entangled atomic ensembles, spin squeezing and apllications in quantum information processing. The conditions for achieving strong spin squeezing with this mechanism are also analyzed.
