QUADROS SEDUTORES NO CAMPO DO TURISMO E MíDIA: A CONSTRU O DA IDENTIDADE PARAIBANA PELA MíDIA TURíSTICA

Andrade, Pedro Beraldo de;Tebet, Marden André;Andrade, M?noca Vieira Athanazio de;Labrunie, André;Mattos, Luiz Alberto Piva e;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0066-782X2011005000026
Abstract: background: although the radial approach offers an unquestionable result in terms of reduction of vascular complications and occurrence of severe bleeding in comparison to the femoral approach, so far it has only been used in few centers which elected it as the preferential access. objective: to evaluate the current status of percutaneous coronary interventions in brazil, as regards the use of the radial approach. methods: analysis of data spontaneously recorded in central nacional de interven??es cardiovasculares - cenic (national center for cardiovascular interventions) from 2005 to 2008, in a total of 83,376 procedures. results: the radial approach was used in 12.6% of the procedures performed, and the femoral approach, in 84.3%. the remaining 3.1% corresponded to brachial artery dissection or puncture. with a success rate of 97.5%, the choice of the radial approach was associated with a significant reduction of vascular complications in comparison to the femoral approach (2.5% versus 3.6 %, p < 0.0001). conclusion: the radial approach remains uncommonly used in brazil, and this is possibly explained by the lack of training programs, uncertainties regarding the learning curve, and the lack of large-scale studies corroborating the benefits demonstrated to date.
Interven??o coronariana percutanea primária pelo acesso transulnar: seguran?a e eficácia
Andrade, Pedro Beraldo de;Tebet, Marden André;Andrade, M?nica Vieira Athanazio de;Labrunie, André;Mattos, Luiz Alberto Piva e;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0066-782X2008001600017
Abstract: the transradial approach is safe and effective for coronary procedures. however, its use may be compromised in cases of variations in radial artery anatomy, spasms, and negative allen's test. the transulnar approach emerges as a viable alternative to transradial approach. we report on a patient who underwent primary angioplasty via ulnar artery without ischemic hand complications despite prior occlusion of the ipsilateral radial artery.
Louren??o, André Luiz;Carvalho, Luiz Olavo de;Lasca, Dalmo Henrique de Campos;
Bragantia , 1989, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051989000100010
Abstract: larvae of a. citrinopsis dyar were found feeding on leaves of castor-bean plants (ricinus communis l.) on plantations at caiuá, tupi paulista, junqueirópolis, ouro verde, marabá paulista and candido rodrigues, in the state of s?o paulo, brazil. the larvae feed on the lower surface of leaves, were they form cocoon and pupate later on. only at junqueirópolis the infestation was high, but there was a natural decrease in the insect population. the hymenopterous glyptapanteles dalosoma santis, 1987 (braconidae), ceratosmicra argentina blanchard, 1942 (chalcididae) and isdromas monterai (costa lima, 1948) (ichneumonidae) were reared from larvae; the latter two probably behaved as hyperparasites.
Tebet, Marden Andre;Andrade, Pedro Beraldo de;Andrade, M?nica Vieira Athanazio de;Gentile, Milena;Mattos, Luiz Alberto Piva e;Labrunie, André;
Revista Brasileira de Cardiologia Invasiva , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S2179-83972008000300013
Abstract: background: right and left heart catheterization (rlc) is a limitation on the use of the transradial technique (trt). however, recent studies have shown that the procedure can be safely performed with the use of a forearm venous access. in this study, it was evaluated the use of this new approach compared with the transfemoral technique (tft). method: between january 2006 and june 2008, 70 patients were submitted to rlc. from september 2007 on, trt was adopted as the first choice technique. venous access in the trt was obtained by puncturing a forearm vein using a jelcotm 20 catheter. this study aimed to evaluate trt safety and effectiveness compared with tft through the procedure success rates, occurrence of in-hospital complications related to the puncture site, as well as procedure and fluoroscopy times. results: among the 70 patients evaluated, 35 had undergone the procedure through trt and 35 through tft. the groups were well matched, with no significant differences in baseline clinical characteristics, except for the higher percentage of patients using oral anticoagulant in the trt group (p = 0.005). the procedure success rate was 97.1% in trt and 100% in tft (p > 0.99). in one case in the trt group it was not possible to advance the introducer through the forearm venous access, and the technique was converted to tft. the mean duration of the procedure was significantly shorter in the trt group compared with the tft group (28.28 ± 10.21 min vs. 42.85 ± 20.33 min; p = 0.0004). the fluoroscopy time was 6.17 ± 2.42 min in trt and 8.39 ± 6.38 min in tft (p = 0.060). there were 6 cases of minor bleeding from the puncture site in the tft group and none in the trt group (p = 0.024). conclusions: performing rlc using trt was safe and effective. it is a useful alternative to standard tft approach, reducing procedure duration, vascular complications, and possibly procedure costs.

Pre-processing for noise detection in gene expression classification data
Libralon, Giampaolo Luiz;Carvalho, André Carlos Ponce de Leon Ferreira de;Lorena, Ana Carolina;
Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society , 2009, DOI: 10.1007/BF03192573
Abstract: due to the imprecise nature of biological experiments, biological data is often characterized by the presence of redundant and noisy data. this may be due to errors that occurred during data collection, such as contaminations in laboratorial samples. it is the case of gene expression data, where the equipments and tools currently used frequently produce noisy biological data. machine learning algorithms have been successfully used in gene expression data analysis. although many machine learning algorithms can deal with noise, detecting and removing noisy instances from the training data set can help the induction of the target hypothesis. this paper evaluates the use of distance-based pre-processing techniques for noise detection in gene expression data classification problems. this evaluation analyzes the effectiveness of the techniques investigated in removing noisy data, measured by the accuracy obtained by different machine learning classifiers over the pre-processed data.
Carvalho, André Luiz Gomes de;Araújo, Alexandre Fernandes Bamberg de;Silva, Hélio Ricardo da;
Biota Neotropica , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1676-06032007000200025
Abstract: this work presents the results of a survey of the lizard species that occur in marambaia, rj. twelve species of lizards, distributed in seven families were registered. teiidae is the richest family (3 spp.), followed by gekkonidae (2), scincidae (2), tropiduridae (2), gymnophthalmidae (1), leiosauridae (1), and polychrotidae (1). the lizard fauna of marambaia is similar to that occurring in other localities in the southeastern coast of brazil. nevertheless, marambaia harbors cnemidophorus littoralis and liolaemus lutzae, species restricted to restinga habitats in rio de janeiro state and considered under threat. the area also protects typical forest species, including the arboreal lizards enyalius brasiliensis and anolis cf. fuscoauratus. forest and restinga are continuous in marambaia and represent the richest habitats for lizards, comprising nine and eight species, respectively. the possibility of genetic variability loss due to the geographical isolation of the area, and the apparent difficulty of re-colonization in the case of local loss of diversity, added to environmental modifications caused by human activities, are worrying issues for the conservation of marambaia herpetofauna.

Cadernos EBAPE.BR , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-39512011000100003
Abstract: despite the growing quest for knowledge about the importance of brands, we know little about how consumers attach meaning to them in their daily lives. with this in mind, we carried out this study to identify how consumers confer meanings to brands when interacting with each other, assuming that social interactions is a strong influence among consumers and, therefore, the impressions of some interfere with the judgments of others. to this end, an ethnography of communication was undertaken through participant observation of everyday interaction of people from different social groups. a key finding was that people use brands as a means of stigmatizing one another in social interactions. our findings align with the social theory of erving goffman, which may be based on a rich interpretation of this level of significance of brands by consumers. our results point to twenty-four forms of stigmatization by the marks, divided into three categories: "communal", "social" and "personal." in the end, we analyzed the possible contributions of our study for both academia and for brand management.
Le?o, André Luiz Maranh?o de Souza;Mello, Sérgio Carvalho Benício de;
Revista de Administra??o Contemporanea , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-65552010000200005
Abstract: among management activities, control is the most neglected. however, monitoring becomes a key player as the area of marketing has continually sought out metrics to measure its results. upon analyzing the current perspective of marketing control, we conclude that it is contingential. as a result, some problems were identified. we suggest that a different, institutional perspective may be more adequate. for our analysis, we assumed as scope the perspective of service encounters. this choice was due to our belief that all businesses are - in essence - service-oriented, and that service encounters bring aspects of the external environment to the internal environment, as customers and contact employees are from the socio-cultural environment. with this in mind, the aim of this theoretical essay is to develop a marketing control process based on the meanings of the organization. however, we recognize that - as this is a long-term view - short-term interests may compromise it.
