Abstract: the price fluctuation of assets negotiated in capital and financial markets has been the subject of a theoretical dispute between different methodological streams: some researchers understand that prices are determined at random, based on new information, and that investors decide rationally, according to the principles of efficient market theory. on the other hand, other researchers consider that reality is far more complex, so that no one is able to envisage all variables when investing, and that emotional factors play an important role in investors' decision. the latter support the behavioral finance theory. this article points out the main characteristics of efficient markets and presents some anomalies that are widely discussed among researchers to refute market efficiency.

Abstract: Given the importance of the thymus to the immune system and the limited knowledge about its development and involution processes, this study evaluated the expression of the vascular endo-thelial growth factor, a key angiogenic factor for the formation of vascular tissue bed and modulation of functions related to cell proliferation and migration, hormone synthesis, and immunomodulation. In this study, thymus samples of dog fetuses (30, 40, 50 and 60 days old), and young (180 days old) and adult (365 days old) dogs were submitted to real-time PCR and Western blot. Time-dependent changes were observed for proteins and genes associated with the development of the vascular system, such as VEGF-A, VEGF-C, Flt-1, KDR, FLT-4, and EG-VEGF. This result demonstrates that these system components play different roles during development and involution of the thymus. Possible functions, such as the modulatory effect on vasculogenesis and microenvironment, influence the proliferation and differentiation of thymocytes, T cells maturation, cell-cell interaction and hormone secretion.

Abstract: The most fundamental influence in the breastfeeding process is the fathers support. The mother feels safer in breastfeeding when she has her partners support and a more active and effective participation. This study aimed at evaluating the fathers knowledge about breastfeeding in a quantitative approach through a transversal cohort study, interviewing 78 fathers in a public maternity in Salvador. The average age of the interviewees was 29.9 years and 53.8% had an incomplete fundamental schooling. Regarding knowledge of the subject, 10.3% believed that breastfeeding can be substituted. All fathers interviewed answered that they support breastfeeding for their children and believe in its benefits; 39.7% reported that their opinion could interfere their partners decision to prolong the process. Moreover, 69.2% of the males attended their partners antenatal meetings, and of these, over a third had no intervention on the subject. Of all the participants, 80.8% confirmed that they had participated in the breastfeeding process and emphasized their gratification during this phase. About the paternal opinion, 39.7% believed that there is a degree of influence over the partners decision to breastfeed, and for that reason 50% told the mother their opinion. The study widened the knowledge about the role of the

Abstract: titanium alloys have several advantages over ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials, such as high strengthto-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance. a blended elemental titanium powder metallurgy process has been developed to offer low cost commercial products. the process employs hydride-dehydride (hdh) powders as raw material. in this work, results of the ti-35nb alloy sintering are presented. this alloy due to its lower modulus of elasticity and high biocompatibility is a promising candidate for aerospace and medical use. samples were produced by mixing of initial metallic powders followed by uniaxial and cold isostatic pressing with subsequent densification by isochronal sintering between 900 up to 1600 °c, in vacuum. sintering behavior was studied by means of microscopy and density. sintered samples were characterized for phase composition, microstructure and microhardness by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and vickers indentation, respectively. samples sintered at high temperatures display a fine plate-like a structure and intergranular b. a few remaining pores are still found and density above 90% for specimens sintered in temperatures over 1500 °c is reached.

Parrots are among the most popular pets in the world and they are also some of the most illegally traded, particularly in Brazil. Some computational tools were recently developed by researchers based on molecular databases for taxonomy support, forensic identification and conservation purposes. In this study, the DNA Surveillance platform was used to build an online database tool for molecular identification of Brazilian Psittacids using DNA sequences of six mitochondrial genes. To illustrate possible taxonomic issues of the online tool due to interspecific hybridization or unresolved taxonomy, we focused on Amazona aestiva that is considered as one of the most common parrots in Brazil, commonly bred as pets, and considered to be part of a species complex with Amazona ochrocephala from South America. We provide three curated sequence databases, which allow the species identification of individuals or tissue samples of birds of the Psittacidae family using mitochondrial DNA markers, and a comprehensive description of a taxonomic issue involving the A. ochrocephala complex. The results obtained corroborate previous studies suggesting that these species are not reciprocally monophyletic, due to either an ancient hybridization in central Brazil, or, they maybe just are morpho-varieties of the same species. Alternatively, if A. aestiva and A. ochrocephala were considered as sister species, the data could be interpreted either as a result of secondary contact or incipient speciation. Beyond the use of mtDNA for species identification, the high mtDNA haplotype diversity observed in A. aestiva indicates its potential use in discrimination of lineages that could be an important auxiliary tool to certify the captive origin of legally commercialized parrots.
