Animal Manure as a Nitrogen Source to Grass  [PDF]

Abstract: The use of animal manure has been studied increasingly in recent years due to the excess waste in confinements, which generates great amounts of animal excreta; and as a result of the worsening petroleum crisis, the cost of mineral fertilizing products has increased. Thus, studies point out the potential of this waste to improve biotic and abiotic soil condition and nutritional value of forage. Substances ingested by animals that resist the action of gastric enzymes are enriched with large amounts of bacteria, other microorganisms and other substances to form residual feces, the main component of manure, which, together with the wash water from barnyard urine, form the slurry. The volume of living or dead bacteria in the feces represents 20% of total manure and it is from these that a large amount of nitrogen originates as protein. Due to this potentiality, animal manure can be used as an input in agriculture, impacting positively on production and forage productivity, and having a favorable effect on the environment.

Abstract: Resumo.- Embora a queima seja uma prática de manejo muito usada, principalmente em pastagens nativas, o seu uso em excesso prejudica a produtividade e a persistência das pastagens. Queimas freqüentes prejudicam as plantas forrageiras por esgotar as reservas das raízes e base do caule, diminuindo o vigor da rebrota o. Parece ser consenso, que o melhor manejo do pasto, seria evitar o uso do fogo no cotidiano, pois, além de ser uma técnica pouco segura e no momento ilegal, leva a uma série de fatores negativos do ponto de vista ecofisiológico e sustentável do ecossistema. Abstract.- Although it burns is her handling practice very used, mainly in native pastures, use in excess harms the productivity and the persistence of the pastures. Frequent burn harm the plants for draining the reservations of the roots and base of the stem, reducing the energy of the rebrotation. Is consensus, that the best manntje of pasture, would be to avoid the use of the fire in the daily, because, besides being a little safe technique and in the illegal moment, the series of negative factors in the ecofisiologic and maintainable of ecosystem.

Abstract: A a o do fogo provoca uma série de modifica es de natureza física, química e biológica no solo. O uso contínuo do fogo tem como conseqüência a exposi o do solo ao impacto das gotas de chuva, aumentando a compacta o e a eros o, além de interromper gradualmente o ciclo de retorno da matéria organica, diminuindo a capacidade de troca de cátions, a reten o de água, a perda de nutrientes do sistema, principalmente N, S e K, o que favorece o surgimento de plantas invasoras e acelera o processo de degrada o das pastagens. The action of the fire provokes a series of modifications of physical nature, chemistry and biological in the soil. The continuous use of the fire has as consequence the exhibition of the soil to the impact of the rain drops, increasing the compacting and the erosion, besides interrupting the cycling of return of the organic matter gradually, reducing the capacity of cautions change, the retention of water, the loss of nutrients of the system, mainly N, S and K, what favors the appearance of plants invasion and it accelerates the process of degradation of pastures.

Abstract: O regime, ou padr o de desfolha o é a variável de maior influencia na resposta da planta ao pastejo. O padr o de desfolha o é definido pela intensidade (quantidade de material removido) e frequência (número de vezes que a planta é desfolhada) em um dado período de tempo de desfolha o. Esses indicadores funcionais de pastejo, juntamente com intercepta o luminosa, altura, massa de forragem, aduba o, taxa de lota o, subdivis es dos piquetes, etc... proporciona às plantas forrageiras um ambiente adequado para seu desenvolvimento, através da percep o de seus limites ecofisiológico, tendo como resultado a sustentabilidade do sistema. Para o capim Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu amplitude ótima de manejo em sistema de lota o contínua para produ o de forragem variou de 20 a 40 cm de altura. Abstract: Inadequate management in recent times has been considered the main factor contributing to pasture degradation. A major reason for this is related to gross errors of grazing management as a consequence of the lack of knowledge of ecophysiological limits of forage. This review aimed to approach the importance of organic reserves for grasses under grazing. Therefore, the predominant effect of animal grazing is the reduction of leaf area which impacts on carbohydrate and nitrogen reserves and consequently the growth of tillers, leaves and roots. Grass growth after defoliation is related to organic reserves and rate of photosynthesis. The latter is affected by the level of canopy light interception of and by the reminiscent leaf area index. When grazing management is carried out with respect to the physiological limits of grass growth, the rate of dry matter accumulation will be quick and constant. In this aspect, grazing management consists of seeking an efficient balance between plant growth and consumption which will reflect on animal productivity. Therefore, a balance point among frequency and intensity of defoliation must be found to achieve greater animal production concerning the ecophysiological limits of the forage plants. So the challenge will be to find a balance between frequency and intensity of grazing to achieve greater production of animals respecting the eco-physiological limits of forage plants for each forage grass individually.

Abstract: Aditivos alimentares ainda é um grande desafio para os pesquisadores. O benefício do uso, de muitos, s o comprovados, e reputáveis, e existe ainda uma ampla gama de aditivos alimentares a serem testados e descobertos. A indústria de alimenta o animal continua investindo em pesquisas e no desenvolvimento de aditivos promotores de crescimento, apostando no aprimoramento do sistema produtivo do país. Os promotores de crescimento est o divididos em duas categorias distintas. A primeira, formada principalmente por antibióticos e ionóforos, que s o produtos que melhoram a qualidade e aumentam a quantidade de nutrientes disponíveis na alimenta o dos animais. A segunda categoria é composta principalmente por horm nios e anabolizantes, que aumentam a eficiência dos nutrientes absorvidos pelo animal. A utiliza o desta categoria, apesar dos benefícios, encontra-se proibida no Brasil. Alimentary Addictive is a big challenge for the researchers. The benefit of to use many them are proven and there is a wide range of alimentary addictive to be tested and discovered. The industry of animal feeding continues investing in researches to the addictive growth promoters' development, betting in the improvement of the productive system of the country. The growth promoters are divided in two different categories. The first, formed mainly by antibiotics and ionforos, that are products that improve the quality and increase the amount of nutrients available in the animals feeding. The second category is composed mainly by hormones and anabolizantes, that increase the efficiency of nutrients absorption for the animal. The use of this category, in spite of to be benefics, is forbidden in Brazil.

Abstract: O consumo e a digestibilidade s o parametros chaves em vários sistemas de formula o de dietas para ruminantes. A medi o desses parametros faz-se necessária, pois, estes possuem alta correla o com a ingest o de matéria seca e eficiência na absor o e aproveitamento dos nutrientes. O consumo de alimentos é influenciado por vários fatores e, quando a densidade energética destes é mais baixa, como é o caso de dietas a base de volumosos, o consumo poderá ser limitado pelo efeito do enchimento. The consume and the digestibility are key parameters in several systems of formulation of diets for ruminant. The measurement of those parameters is made necessary, because, these possess high correlation with the ingestion of matter dry and efficiency in the absorption and use of the nutrients. The consume of foods is influenced by several factors and, when the energy density of these it is lower, as it is the case of diets the base of roughage, the consumption can be limited by the effect of the stuffing.
