ICF in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Prakash H,Anand V
Indian Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation , 2010,
Abstract: The International Statistical Classification of Disease(ICD 10) and related health problems focuses ondiagnosis, disorders, morbidity and mortality. TheInternational Classification of Functioning, Disability andHealth by World Health Assembly (ICF) augments andenriches the ICD 10 in a way of a multipurposeclassification for description and measurement of aperson's functional status and associated health condition.Together the ICF and ICD 10 form the WHO Family ofInternational Classifications and provide a meaningfulpicture of health. In May 2001, the world health assemblyratified and approved the ICF for implementation in variousfields.

Abstract: Preparing our self for changes and challenges will keep us active, alive, artistic and authoritative. The first step before preparation is discussion and initiation. This paper aims at analyzing various developmental changes faced by our country and aims a developing a practical approach to address this issues and aim at implementable solutions ,with prime focus on value based approach
Integrated Security Monitor Model for Enhancing Application Security
Sheila Anand,V.Ramachandran
Asian Journal of Information Technology , 2012,
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to propose an integrated security monitor model for protecting business software applications. Security monitors have been designed to directly integrate with the applications and protect them from malicious activities by monitoring all user access to the application resources. Rule-base approach has been used to define permissible actions of users. User requests are analyzed before being processed by the application and the application response to the user requests are also analyzed to block access to unauthorized information. Knowledge of application characteristics enables such monitors to be specifically tailored to protect against misuse of application resources. User activities and usage of application resources have been logged for future analysis. Security offered is two-fold; protection from external intruders and protection from internal intruders being legitimate users who misuse their access privileges to gain unauthorized access to confidential information. The proposed model is a general one and can be implemented for any application. The model has been successfully tested with Email and File Transfer applications.
PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF RHIZOME PART OF CURCUMA ZEDOARIA
Himaja M.,Anand Ranjitha,Ramana M.V.,Anand M.
International Journal of Research in Ayurveda and Pharmacy , 2010,
Abstract: Curcuma zedoaria belongs to the family Zingiberaceae. The rhizome parts of Curcuma zedoaria was dried, extracted with different solvent by soxhlet extraction method. Phytochemical studies of all the crude extracts showed the presence of terpeniods, alkaloids, saponins, flavanoids, glycosides & carbohydrates, phenolic, tannins and phytosterols etc., The phytochemical results confirm that all extracts contains more important chemical constituents for various biological activities. Antioxidant activity (DPPH) has been carried out for all the crude extracts of Curcuma zedoaria. From the results, it was found that the different crude extracts from the rhizome part of the plant material had shown potent antioxidant activity. The Maximum antioxidant activity was seen in Ethyl acetate, n-hexane and water extracts, whereas petroleum ether, chloroform and ethanolic extracts of the plant material had shown moderate antioxidant activity. The present paper deals with the phytochemcial screening and antioxidant activity for all crude extracts of the plant material.

Identification and phylogenetic analysis of filamentous Cyanobacteria using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) fingerprinting
GM Perumal, V Ganesan, N Anand
African Journal of Biotechnology , 2009,
Abstract: RAPD techniques were used for the detection of genetic heterogeneticity among the axenic culture of fresh water cyanobacterial isolates. The electrophoretic patterns for 12 cyanobacterial strains belonging to 2 genera (8 Oscillatoria strains and 4 Lyngbya strains) were used for molecular analysis using the RAPD technique. A total of 12 cyanobacterial isolates were selected and mass cultured in BG11 medium. Genomic DNA was extracted from fresh water cyanobacterial isolates and was amplified using primers D7, M13, OPC11, OPC12, OPC13, OPC14 and OPC15 and distinct PCR fingerprint were generated. Unique banding patterns were observed from all tested cyanobacterial species and their molecular weights of each band were used to calculate their genetic distance among them. Random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) was carried out for the phylogenetic characterization of these strains. RAPD fingerprinting results clearly showed the genetic variation among the cyanobacterial isolates.
