Relation between postpartum depression and childbirth practices recommended by Estrategia de atención al parto normal
Ana Belén Lavia Castán
NURE Investigación , 2013,
Abstract: The high prevalence of postpartum depression (PPD) (rates between 10-20% in developed countries) and its serious consequences for both women and children, highlight the need to continue studying the factors affecting DPP.Many studies have looked for factors related to this disorder, but none has carried out a comprehensive analysis to find out its relationship with childbirth practices, despite the possible relationship between the childbirth experiences and the emotional disorders in mothers, and the early alteration of the link between mother and child, that we have seen during our professional lifes. The objective of this research is to determine the prevalence of PPD among women whose childbirth took place at Miguel Servet Hospital, in Zaragoza, during October and November 2011, and to analyse its connection to carrying out clinical practice based on the best know-how available recommended by “Estrategia del parto normal del Ministerio de Sanidad y Consumo (2007)”. An observational and transverse study based was carried out that consisted of an initial survey to an approximate sample of 600 women with a later phone call between the sixth and eighth week after the childbirth to detect women suffering from PPD, using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). The relationship between each variable defined within “Estrategia de atención del parto normal” and the existance of PPD will be studied; the following variables will be taken into account too, due to its high importance: parity, gestational pathology, prematurity, nationality and fulfilment of her childbirth.
Lateinamerika oder -amerikas? Latin America or Americas?
Ana Belén García Timón
querelles-net , 2008,
Latin America is presented as a stage for the development of transcultural phenomena through the use of interdisciplinary and empirical studies. Gender relations in different contexts lie at the heart of this study. Terms such as power, race, or space are revised with the goal of moving away from current perceptions of homogenous cultural unities.

querelles-net , 2006,
The author begins with the question as to whether the sociocultural and analytic category of “gender,” put forth in the last decades by Gender Studies, can be relevant in the context of the Middle Ages. To answer this question, she examines a series of texts that were collected around the time of the Benedictine Reform by the various monastic communities.
Nuevo mundo - Mundos Nuevos , 2009,
In order to answer the question what are the causes of the high rate of violence in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala compared to the (relatively) low rate of violence in Nicaragua and Costa Rica? proposed by Professor Heidrun Zinecker, experts from Central America and Europe came together. The lack of social policies appropriate to the reality, the absence of transparency in state institutions as well as the mano dura policy, could be some of the possibilities to define the causes of the violence.

Abstract: the term "folate" is a generic way to name the different forms derived from folic acid, one of the b vitamins (specifically b9 vitamin). they are essential in the metabolism when they act as cofactors in the transfer reactions of one carbon. however, only plants and microorganisms are able to synthesize them de novo, in such a way that both animals and human beings have to intake them through their diet. folic acid is widely spread in nature, mainly in vegetables, liver ans cereals. however, nowadays, the lack of folates in the diet is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in the world, and it has serious consequences on human health. there is evidence that even in developed countries folate intake is usually low; and even, is some cases, below optima levels. the authorities in several countries have adapted different norms related to folic acid, fortifying staple food such as dairy products or cereals, mandatory (usa, canadá or chile) or voluntary (most of the european countries).

Open Journal of Pediatrics (OJPed) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojped.2012.23041
Abstract: Introduction: teratomas are non-malignantgerm cell tumors commonly composed of cell types derived from all of the three germ layers. Intracerebral teratomas typically are midline or paraxial lesions located in the pituitary stalk or the pineal region. We report our experience with mature teratomas of the posterior fossa. Case report: we present the case of an 11-year-old caucasian female with progressive headache that caused interrupted sleep. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging showed a midline lesion in the posterior fossa with mass effect and without contrast enhancement. Anatomic pathology revealed a mature teratoma. Conclusion: differential diagnosis of midline lesions in pediatric patients must include teratomas in spite of being posterior fossa lesions.
The influence of maternal education in a group of woman
Lourdes Ortiz Villanueva,Ana Belén García Varela
NURE Investigación , 2013,
Abstract: Understanding that pregnancy and childbirth are physiological situations of women, we can wonder us what brings maternal education (ME). Recent studies have no conclusive findings about its effectiveness. When historically ME began, the focus was on reducing pain and improving child-bearing. However, the change in the way of life of women and the introduction of new strategies in the care of child-bearing, as non-intervention, epidurals and birth plan, among others, forces us to review the objectives and activity. Objective: Analyze why women come to the courses of ME (maternal education) and how it influences them.Method: We analyze a real context in which we work and research about the experiences of pregnant women, developing a qualitative research using "discourse analysis" of information generated from the open interviews to women attending an ME program in a Health Center in Madrid (Spain). All interviews will be recorded with audio system. The participants in this research will be selected from a group of Spanish-speaking women closer in their child-bearing date.
Horticulture in Argentina: a productive alternative with great potential
Ana Maria Castagnino,María Belén Rosini,Silvia Benson
Italian Journal of Agronomy , 2011, DOI: 10.4081/ija.2011.e37
Abstract: Horticulture in Argentina is an activity with great potential whose history has mainly been driven by Italian immigrants who arrived during the last two centuries. It is a valuable complement for traditional primary productions on which the country is focused with more than 30 millions of cultivated hectares and different agro-climatic conditions that characterize the different horticultural regions distributed throughout the country. The aim of this article is to give a panorama of the history, reality and perspectives in Argentina of an activity that is an opportunity for producers and entrepreneurs interested in it. Due to its characteristics, horticulture generates and dynamizes employment with great importance for regional economies. The proportion between vegetables and fruit produced and commercialized in Argentina is 63 and 34% respectively. Horticultural products for exportation largely are garlic, onion and beans. Concerning the most commercialized vegetables in Argentina, potato, tomato, onion, squash, lettuce, pepper, marrow and sweet potato stand out, whereas orange, tangerine, apple, banana, lemon, pear, grape and grapefruit may be highlighted among fruit. At present, the main challenge of the Argentinian horticultural sector is given not only by the possibilities of productive diversification and the expansion of the productive area but also of the technological level optimization, the application of quality norms and the agro-industry growth.
