Abstract: introduction: azadirachta indica a. juss, known as neem tree, has various applications in agriculture, veterinary medicine and health care, thus it is a relevant vegetable species due to its antimicrobial, antiparasitic and immunostimulating properties. objective: to detect any signal of toxicity after daily oral administration of decoction for 28 days. methods: a repeated dose toxicity assay using a a. indica decoction at a dose of 1000 mg/kg, orally administered to sprague dawley rats for 28 days. clinical signs and body weight of the study animals were evaluated together with hamatological, blood chemistry, anatomopathological and histopathological analyses. results: this decoction brought about neither significant change in the body weight nor clinical signs indicating toxicity. there were not altered hematological and biochemical indicators that may be attributed to the substance under testing. the anatomopathological results did not show any alteration upon systems, organs and tissues. conclusions: the study did not reveal toxic effects in the animal model that might be connected with the repeated oral administration of a. indica decoction under the study conditions.

Abstract: In the face of the changes the experiences in Cuban higher education is a necessity to elevate the quality of the formative process, as indispensable factor to form a highly professional competitive. It constitutes the formation of communicative competence of the students that is the essential link to guarantee the social responsibility of the educational institutions. This work arises in the face of the necessity of solving the inadequacies that the students of Mechanical Engineering degree course of Higher Mining Metallurgical Institute evidence in its professional acting related with professional communicative competence which limits the performance of the objectives of the professional model. As a process of being resolved this problem intend those dimensions and indicators that are considered necessary for the treatment to the educational communication by means of formation process of the Mechanical Engineer in the labor context. The results are sustained in the dialectical - materialistic relationship of the activity from the subject - object relationship, the historical - cultural theory, and the theoretical conceptions that continue the professional formation process of engineers in Cuban higher education. The experience in the work with these dimensions and indicators has allowed checking its feasibility in the improvement of the professional performance of the students of Mechanical Engineering related with the formation of the trained communicative competence.

Abstract: a cross-sectional epidemiologic or of prevalence study was conducted to describe the morbidity by dental caries and risk factors selected in young adults from january, 2006 to december, 2006 in libertador municipality, distrito capital. universe included 245 venezuelan social workers "social fighters", located in energy mission. a form was designed in which was recorded all information need using empirical methods of observation and questioning to patients, determining the morbidity of dental caries as well as the association each other, and risk factors modifiable , estimating also the potential risk and social impact indicators. the 90.6 % of person polled had dental caries the more affected were those aged 30 and more with 94.4 % and male sex with a 91.2 % although there were not significant differences related to it (p> 0.05). in significance order there was a significant difference among the cries and the prior experience of disease (odds ratio (or)= 2.63). etiological fraction in those exposed (eee)= 62.0 and etiological fraction in population (fep)= 55,1), ingestion of cariogenic diet (rp= 2.33, fee= 57.1 and fep= 49.9), inappropriate oral hygiene (rp= 1.63, fee= 38.6 and fep= 31.55), non-suitable knowledge level on oral health (rp= 1.30, fee= 23.1 and fep= 16.4), and the non systematic visit to stomatology consultation (rp= 1.27, fee= 21.3 and fep= 15.5). it is advisable to design and to apply educational interventional strategies with community involvement to modify the knowledges, attitudes and practices to prevent dental caries.
Microbiota and Mycotoxins in Trilinear Hybrid Maize Produced in Natural Environments at Central Region in Mexico  [PDF]

Abstract: Mycotoxigenic fungi and mycotoxins in 3 inbred lines (hybrids resistant to corn ear rot) were identified in twenty samples. The maize (Zea mays) accessions were collected in five plots of two municipalities in High Valley, state of Hidalgo. The fungal population was determined with a microbiological dilution method used two culture media (PDA and ELA), for the detection of mycotoxins with thin layer chromatography with visual inspection in UV light and a direct competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA). The results showed high moisture content in all hybrids evaluated on an average of 38.3% and a 1.8 × 103 UFC/g fungus, values within the permitted limits by the Mexican legislation; however the most prevalent fungi were Fusarium sp. (76%), Alternaria sp. (14%), Penicillium sp. (4%) and Aspergillus sp. (5%), and the species Aspergillus nidulas, Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium verticillioides, Fusarium poae, and Penicillium ochraceum. The aflatoxin concentration was observed in a range from 2 to 13 ng/g and 370 to 660 ng/g to fumonisins. It is concluded that trilinear corn hybrids have a variety of pathogenic potential fungi. The two genetic hybrids showed levels of aflatoxins and fumonisin safe for human consumption, contrary to one hybrid, with a content not suitable for human consumption. A better understanding of genetic hybrids corn will improve predictive mycotoxin contamination.
Magnetization Dynamics of Amorphous Ribbons and Wires Studied by Inductance Spectroscopy

Abstract: Inductance spectroscopy is a particular formulation variant of the well known complex impedance formalism typically used for the electric characterization of dielectric, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric materials. It has been successfully exploited as a versatile tool for characterization of the magnetization dynamics in amorphous ribbons and wires by means of simple experiments involving coils for sample holding and impedance analyzer equipment. This technique affords the resolution of the magnetization processes in soft magnetic materials, in terms of reversible deformation of pinned domain walls, domain wall displacements and spin rotation, for which characteristic parameters such as the alloy initial permeability and the relaxation frequencies, indicating the dispersion of each process, can be defined. Additionally, these parameters can be correlated with chemical composition variation, size effects and induced anisotropies, leading to a more physical insight for the understanding of the frequency dependent magnetic response of amorphous alloys, which is of prime interest for the development of novel applications in the field of telecommunication and sensing technologies. In this work, a brief overview, together with recent progress on the magnetization dynamics of amorphous ribbons, wires, microwires and biphase wires, is presented and discussed for the intermediate frequency interval between 10 Hz and 13 MHz.

Abstract: NOvA is a long-baseline neutrino experiment using an off-axis neutrino beam produced by the NuMI neutrino beam at Fermilab. The NOvA experiment will study neutrino $\nu_{\mu}\rightarrow\nu_{e}$ oscillations. A short term goal for the NOvA experiment is to develop a good understanding of the response of the detector. These studies are being carried out with the full Near Detector installed on the surface (NDOS) at Fermilab. This detector is currently running and will acquire neutrino data for a year. Using beam muon neutrino data, quasi-elastic charged-current interactions will be studied. Status of the NDOS running and early data will be shown.
